A comfortable and homelike place for my mother's last few months
The staff were very kind to me and my mother. I could tell she was loved and well taken care of. There could've been better communication between the staff and me when supplies needed restocking and when my mother needed medical attention.

The food is to accommodate the ones that don't have chewing problems. You must ask for soft food for the ones that don't have the teeth. No vegan options. No traditional Asian or other options This is a problem for new residents.

We moved my mother into Columbia Place in August. She has a large studio apartment at the front of the building, so she overlooks the front lawn. She seems to really enjoy the view. There is round the clock care there and fortunately we have had no need for yet but it is a comfort to us knowing it’s there. Meals are mainly taken in the dining area on the main floor. My mother thinks the food is great.

I like the rooms they are large and clean. The neighborhood is excellent. I do not like that they do not pay much attention to the residents. They bathe possibly only once a week. They do not change their bedding more than once every two weeks. They do not help with changing clothes daily or their basic personal hygiene. The food menu is the same weekly.

This is a good place to check out for your loved one. The food has been really good that I've seen. The community has cut back on activities due to the pandemic. They have a gardening group and walking group available for the residents.

What we like about this community is how flexible that staff has been, they are doing a great job working with our loved one and making sure she is getting the care that she needs. Some of the improvements can be with their meal service, our loved one complains that it is slow at times which is troublesome. Also they have not been able to do as many activities as we would of hoped for.

I looked at several facilities and we chose Assisted Living at Summerplace because I got very personalized attention while I toured this facility. The main thing that stuck out to me was the longevity of employment of the staff members here. If the staff members are happy, the residents will be happy. The memory care unit also really impressed me, the director spoke of the residents like they were her family. Overall it is a very cozy, small, family oriented facility.

For people who are still active it is great community, there are a lot activities for them. If you are not independent this is probably not the right fit for you. We chose this community because at the time he was active and the location was close to his home. I would recommend this community to other families.

Our Dad Checked into Summerplace last week. He had a stroke. We've had nothing but a great experience so far. Starting with [name removed] who went over and above the call of duty handling my father's special needs and making the transition as smooth as possible. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Dad has enjoyed the food and really likes the dining Hall. Any time Dad or I as a son have asked Andrew or any of the staff for anything they have gotten it for us. I'd like to thank the staff and Andrew for taking good care of my dad

Summerplace, like ALL Assisted Livings have turn over, staff that may not mesh with out loved ones, Administrative staff that are just too busy to take our phone calls, and foods we may not like. They do have 1 thing in common. The desire and want to care for our loved ones. My mother lived at Summerplace for 5 years. We saw it all. The good, the bad, the terrible.as a retired nurse myself, I can say that the Health office has the best of intentions and 95% of the staff REALLY cared about my mom. The other 5 percent, were the bad apples that just wanted a paycheck. Summerplace is a beautiful community. The new, improved, and long term staff will be an amazing team going forward in 2018. I wish that I would see it unfold. Summerplace is trying very hard to have an amazing reputation again, all in do time. The reviews below do not demonstrate the truth of Summerplace. I would highly recommend Summerplace for anyone.

Don't bring your loved ones here. Caregivers are not trained properly, they have such a high turnover, caregivers [Removed] from residents. The menu is always the same. A few okay wait staff but mainly foreigners who just want to serve fast instead of delivering proper attention to the residents. Their juice and milk sits out for hours. No ones does anything about concerns. Management is barely ever there. They treat the residents like babies and have them do children projects. They are out for money. Not care.

Poorly staffed. Extremely high turn-over of management staff and caregivers. This place looks nice but once inside, you see the truth, long waiting for help, short staffed.

When I contacted the staff at Summer Place,, I had less than a week to find a suitable living situation for my 93- year old mother who was about be discharged from a post-surgical care facility in Bend. With no clue and no family to assist me, I was in over my head and nearly despondent. My request for a tour of Summer Place was answered immediately and I found: not the medieval environment I remembered from my youth, but a home that my mother would be proud of. This facility is extraordinarily clean and organized, with up-to-date knowledge of the social, physical, emotional, and medical needs of the residents in its care. The respect and rapport between administration and staff is also apparent. Grace Hall, the executive administrator, knows the name and status of every resident. She is gracious and takes a personal interest in providing the finest care possible. She and Nancy Silliman, the head RN, were sympathetic to my confusion and reached out to put me at ease. They didn't hesitate to take all the time necessary to ensure that I was comfortable with the life changes my mother was about to face. When problems arose that threatened her placement or well-being, they were quick to inform me of them and to get them resolved. For the length of time that she was there, my mother was comfortable and satisfied that she was being well cared-for. A fiercely independent woman who I thought would never accept having to leave her home, she was content, and told me repeatedly that she was in very good hands. The interior and the grounds are beautiful and set in a quiet, out-of-the-way neighborhood. If you have need of assisted living, please visit Summer Place Assisted Living. I'm sure that you'll be glad you did.

It's a wonderful place! We just love it! We only looked at a couple places, and we just fell in love right away. The administrative staff (Grace, specifically) is just wonderful, and always in touch. She's out there among the residents and always ready to talk if anything comes up! The nurse, Norma, is very involved with the patients and their families. The caregivers are all nice and patient. The only downside is that the bus only accomodates 2-3 wheelchairs, so that makes it tough for going out. Also, all doctors appointments have to be on Mondays or Tuesdays, which can be difficult sometimes. Overall though, she gets very good care here and we are so happy.

My husband is not at Summerplace because the didn't have any openings at the time. My daughter and I spent an hour with Grace there. They didn't have openings at that time so he was put on the waiting list. My daughter and I both loved it. We were hoping that we could put him there. The atmosphere was friendly and I've heard others have been there too. My neighbor's father was there and he had good care.
