Ava Cares - Highly Recommended

Having a mother who has been struggling with Dementia for the past 12 years and experiencing several facilities prior to Ava Cares, I can tell you this is the best facility in the Brandon area. The caregivers here are unbelievable, calling me directly when my mother is alert and able to talk, even face timing me since I am located in Texas. Like many others, I have visited my mom without notice and it has been consistently clean and noticeable that the staff interacts everyday on a personal level with each occupant. It truly is a family oriented business and they make sure to include us in birthday and holiday celebrations. The care and love they give is a peace of mind and something I can't stress enough about in terms of quality. They truly are a blessing.

Hell Hole

If you care about your senior family member, do not put them with Eva Cares! These houses are not staffed with trained personnel, there are NO activities to keep the seniors alert and mentally stimulated unless you count the all day soap operas. The food is garbage, there are no special meals. The meals are what ever was on sale at Sam's Club and the discounted dented cans of soggy veggies. The houses always smell of traditional Philippine fish cooking in the kitchen for the staff. Residents only have interactions with a staff member for meal time, 3 times a day, nothing more. More active residents are medicated so they can keep them 'in line' and quiet. Check your pharmacy bill!!! You will get billed for all kinds of things that are not reasonable or large quantities of meds. These ALF houses need to be shut down!! I visited my family member every week at different times and days, so glad I did! I saw the horror first hand every time!

Horrible, DO NOT PLACE

Do not put your family in any of Ava's assistant living facilities. I think opening up 5-6 ALFs is being greedy for money when the care is aweful, philipino workers don't speak a word of English or have legal papers, they are overworked, do not provide attention, care, food is not great, there is no love or care being offered. Turn over of residents is crazy, so I got my mother out of there before they killed her! Ava needs to be investigated by the state and put out of business.

It's All About the Money, Not About Your Loved One!

If I could go less than one star, I would. As others have said, this place is all about the money, not the care. The staff barely speaks English, there's no interaction with the residents (they get put in front of the TV for the entire day). If your loved one is ambulatory and can feed him/herself, maybe. But if they are not, it is not worth the $3,500 per month that's being charge. If you do put someone there, please, please get a nanny cam and hide it somewhere. Other than being clean, there's nothing good I could say about their care of my mother, who really declined while there and not because of her condition. Ava Cares IV is at 616 Valle Vista Rd., Brandon.

Could not ask for more!

My wife's uncle was here for almost 2-years until he passed away. I cannot tell you how comforting it felt to see how they provided a home for him with compassion, laughter, and a whole lot of caring and compassion. All necessary medical needs were provided for in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner as well. My family and I were there often, many times unannounced, and it was always top notch. I highly recommend Ava Cares!

A place to call home.

The care at this community. I like knowing that she is happy here. The staff are always attentive to her needs. The community is clean and maintained. They have activiites for the residents who want to participate. We like the care and the value that is offered here.

If you are looking for a good ALF this is not it! The owner wants money and doesn't truly care for patients. Do not give diabetic diet to diabetic residents. Other legally questionable acts done. They should be shut down and or prosecuted. Do not place your loved one here.

Ava Cares is the Best!

I cannot say enough about the care, love and comfort that my mother receives from the entire staff of Ava Cares. It starts with the owner, Ms Eva, and flows through each of her employees. They treat my mother like she was their own. Mom has been living there for about six months now and couldn't be happier. She suffers from dementia and depression, but I can honestly say that the depression is fully under control. This is a smaller facility so the bonds of affection are strong between staff members and residents. The food is absolutely wonderful, the cleanliness is beyond compare and the atmosphere is very homey. I love the location as it is near to my house and they have a very large yard to stroll in.
