Avista Apache Junction experience
Food was terrible! That was [name removed] biggest complaint. What they could also improve on would be the housekeeping.

The staff was excellent. My husband didn't eat much because he was sick , what I witnessed the food was good. My husband passed away 9 months ago! Yes, I would recommend this facility to others who may be needing to find care for their loved one.

They are very clean and seem to be on top of things. They know all of there patience by name and where they like to spend their days. The CNA's are always on top of their medications and know which ones they are taking. My dad seems to enjoy living there

What we like most about this community is that it is smaller so you do get to know everyone that is there. Also I am there enough that they even know me when I call over the phone. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families looking for a place for their loved ones.

They lost her [fee removed]. Hearing aids as well as some clothes. After [name removed] had been there for a few days, I was called on a Friday afternoon to come and pick her up as she kept trying to leave the facility. They then required that she have anti anxiety drugs to return. I arranged for that and she returned to the community on Tuesday. I was then called Friday evening to come pick up [name removed] as she had gotten out of the facility and was all full of scratches from making it into the bushes. They had not given her any of the anti anxiety drug. They were very friendly, enthusiastic people. They have no business dealing with people who have Alzheimer's and are still very mobile.

I am very happy with the support we receive from everyone that works there. They are going through a shortage in their personnel. . . Sadly they no longer have a chef, which disturbs my mom. But she loves all the people that are there to help her.

The staff at Aurora Place were wonderful to my mom and to our family. Mom was on Hospice for two months before her passing. They all worked together to give her the best care possible. I would recommend Aurora Place to my family, friends and neighbors. We could not have picked a better place for my mom to spend her last six months.

We toured Aurora Place and this facility would have been our second choice. The friendliness was good. The cleanliness was also good from what we saw during the tour.

Aurora Place had constant roof water leaks, couldn't keep AC units running, a med tech refused to take my loved one to the restroom during dinner hour resulting in soiling themselves. and then that med tech wielded our loved one to their room after dinner and put them back in her chair, still soiled. our loved one had diarrhea for 2 weeks, the resident RN and other staff did not assist in trying to figure out the cause. then when I removed my loved one from the facility, I was handed their medications and discovered they had not given our loved one 5 days of their blood pressure and stroke medications. Aurora place is extremely dangerous. if I could give them a zero rating I would. a rating of one is much too generous as far as I'm concerned.

I love Aurora Place. While the cost is difficult for me, it is worth the cost. The management is fabulous. The staff are generally happy, and that is a direct result of good management. I toured several places in the same price range, and this place is a clear winner. It has a wonderful courtyard in the center where it is safe for people with memory issues to go outside. It's a quiet location, with no loud traffic. And management is just extra caring and involved.

I loved Aurora Place, I told my husband we should even look into it. They had so many things offered amenities wise for the residents. My favorite that I saw was the happy hour that they have. We were thoroughly impressed by the tour.

before covid, the facility was very clean, and they had medical staff come in for the residence. They a barbershop at the facility too. The room sizes are small, and the grounds are kept nice. They have a courtyard for the residence to use. I would recommend this community to others if you have the money to afford it

This is a kind of place that I will not recommend to anybody for their parents. I understand the rules for COVID and restriction, but kindness and care has to be expected. Caregiver is not only a job, it is a caring attitude and compassion, that it is not find on this place. Keeping people in a prison like environment and expected to be paid is wrong. My mom a 93 year old woman with intact mind and feeling, cried as she stated that did not expect after a life of work to be improvement and paid for room and board. Better to be in a real prison. As about care, medication given constantly late and even the caregivers had to be called and reminded that the time for meds is long passed, Hygiene poor, and the laundry constantly lost. In 3 years, we had to buy so many times, towels, clothes, bed sets - . No activities, no social interaction among the residents, very poor atmosphere, even when the were no restriction, there is no difference. Anyway enough said - Finally we took mom away from this place

My Mom lives with me and is visually impaired at 90 years of age. I wanted to get away to visit friends and take a vacation. It is hard to find someone who you can trust will take care of her and make her feel at home. I never have to worry about the care she is given at Aurora Place. The staff is very friendly. Her meals and personal needs are provided for along with some activities she can enjoy. She loves Aurora Place and looks forward to her stay when I am away from home. Mom has decided that when it is time for her to go to a facility full time, she would choose Aurora Place.

My father-in-law was here till he passed and it was nice. They took good care of him, he couldn't walk so his needs were high. They would make sure he was clean and up out of his bed. They would take him outside. Took him to the dining room to feed him. They washed his clothes and just treated him like a real person. It is very homey here and the administration ladies were amazing. I would recommend them to other families.

My family has not had a good experience with this community. First of all, the food is bad and even other people have said so. Secondly, most of the CNAs are really nice and the building is very nice and clean, but there’s one nursing assistant that’s been very nasty. We reported her because of a few instances where she made my loved one feel uncomfortable with the things she’s said. Even after reporting her, she has continued to be rude. She’s told my loved one horrible things and has laughed at her. There have been plenty of other people that have reported her and we’re really afraid that she might do something to hurt my loved one in retaliation. Other than the assistant, everyone else has been really nice and my loved one likes them. I’m hoping the facility does something about the assistant so my loved one can continue to live there.

A Place for Mom has scored Avista Apache Junction 7.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
