Horrible Experience

I was a patient at Bellbrook following foot surgery. I was living independently before my admission, playing bridge 2 days a week and have a car. I thought I was going to get back to my prehospital level of fitness and return to my previous standard of living. I could not have been more wrong! I did not receive adequate PT or OT and was not allowed to walk to the bathroom even with an aide. I became weaker and weaker. I was shocked when my daughters showed me the documentation that was provided to Medicare to justify my release. They were blatant lies. There is no way to appeal a decision when the only information provided to a Medicare reviewer is false. I was left sitting in a wheel chair for countless hours and have just been informed I now have a pressure sore. It is a dehumanizing experience to call for help to go to the bathroom and have no one come and soil yourself out of sheer desperation. Do not go to Bellbrook if you want to maintain your dignity and get stronger.

Deplorable beyond words

My father in law went to Bellbrook from an independent living situation, he came out demoralized, disheveled and unable to return to his previous life. After visiting him several times I decided a more appropriate name would be Hellbrook. The main elevator to the third floor is permanently broken so in order to get to the third floor you must walk through a hallway that is more like a circle of Hell than a skilled nursing facility. It is dark, reeks of human excrement and patients are screaming for help. My father in law’s OT and PT were awful. He spent countless hours just sitting in a wheel chair and now has a decubitus ulcer on his sacrum. They forced him out before he was ready submitted fraudulent information to Medicare and shared protected health information to a sleazy wheel chair company that tried to scam him into getting a new wheel chair, presenting it like it was a gift. He already has 2 wheelchairs and was never asked if he wanted or needed a third. Avoid at all costs.

Deplorable Staff and Conditions

My father was admitted to Bellbrook after minor surgery for rehab. He was living independently prior to surgery. The abysmal physical therapy and occupational therapy and mobility restrictions rendered him unable to return to independent living. My father was a meticulous man prior to Bellbrook when I picked him up he looked like he had slept in a dumpster, he was physically and mentally destroyed. The staff at Bellbrook fraudulently documented his abilities to Medicare in order to justify his discharge and making an appeal impossible. They shared protected health information with a wheel chair company who after searching his Medicare history tried to scam him into purchasing a wheelchair. My dad already has 2 wheel chairs. We were never asked if we needed or wanted one. A salesman showed up saying this was his new wheel chair and NEVER indicated this included out of pocket expenses. Bellbook is a horrible place that should be investigated for HIIPA violations and Medicare fraud.

Great atmosphere, friendly

Casual, fun atmosphere vs Formal which is perfect for my mom. Little store/café is sweet. Beautiful but not "stuffy". We loved it right away. I would recommend Bellbrook to others looking.

Quality Care

I highly recommend Bellbrook to others for their loved ones. They have a secure memory care unit and it is a smaller number of residents in memory care as well. The staff are accommodating in where the residents eat their meals, whether it is in the dining room or in their room. The community is able to provide medication management, bathing, dressing, and more if the resident needs it or the family requests these care services.

A Very Very Good Place

I've had a very good experience. I've heard nothing negative from anybody who lives here. The staff are all very nice. My apartment is pretty, and it's just big enough for me. I did have to downsize, but I have everything that I need. They have a place where I can go for mass, which is important to me. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Wonderful community!

My father-in-law lived at Bellbrook for three years, two in Independent Living and one year in Assisted Living, plus he had multiple stays in rehab at Bellbrook for physical and occupational therapy. He thoroughly enjoyed dining with his neighbors in the beautiful restaurant, he enjoyed the transportation for outings and shopping trips when he was no longer driving, and he participated in many group activities and church services. The care that he received when he needed it was amazing, the staff treats their residents like family, and all of the residents are happy there. We were so very blessed in having the angels at Bellbrook watching over our family.

My tour review

The staff and everyone were friendly, this community was also a little closer to my house but it seemed like the room kind of stopped and I wanted to make it seamless. This community also seemed run down, it was a close call for a while but there was another community that worked out better.

Our families experience so far

Our loved one is in a large double size studio apartment, it is expensive but it is worth it. We are now getting the sufficient communication we needed that was lacking at our loved ones previous community. The staffing is down like at a bunch of other communities, but they do their best and there are staff members there that have been there 20+ years which is reassuring. The doctor is only miles away from the community, which is much better. The doctor and his team give us all the feedback we need to know about our loved one, and they understand our concerns regarding their health.

Great tour, beautiful building, Catholic Mass on Sunday, Rosary twice a week. Priest that lives there. Library, can cook or go down for meals for additional fee. My folks live in the neighborhood already so this would be a good choice.

Lack of physical therapy

My father was in memory care for almost a year. He was able to get around with a walker fairly well. Then due to Covid lock down I was unable to visit and take him out on our daily lunches and home visits. I was concerned about his loss of mobility during this time. I didn't want him to lose the use of his legs. My Father would call and request I ask for physical therapy because he felt his legs weren't working as well as they should. When I asked about starting it for him the facility assured me he was doing just fine. Due to the fact I couldn't see for myself I trusted their judgement. I found a group home for my father and had him assessed by the physical therapist and they said he hasn't the ability to even stand on his own now. I am so saddened that he is wheel chair bound due to the neglect of this facility. For the amount of money spent every month and the fact that physical therapy was covered by insurance should of guaranteed they were making the best choices for my father.

Do NOT let your loved one live at Bellbrook!!!

My dad stayed in Bellbrook for 4 days and is now in the hospital fighting for his life! This is a horrible rehab facility and I would never let anyone you love stay there! They are not capable of taking care of someone in their best interest!!! They should be closed down!!!!!

We liked it here.

We were in the independent apartments. He got his food and his meds and took him to the doctor. They had a home care service that was great to help with meds and any assistance he may have needed.
