Review for Brighton Gardens of Saddle River

The staff there is A+++++. EVERYONE is super friendly, respectful, and goes out of their way for you. Every need is acknowledged and addressed. There facility is spot less. They make an effort to have all residents participate in activities. My mom passed away while living there and when she was picked up by the funeral home, the ENTIRE staff stood in a line as she passed by. Many had tears. They treat all residents with the up most respect.

Brighton Gardens of Saddle River

Staff are all very pleasant however lacking in skill and are short staffed, so everyone has multiple roles. There is no continuity, food is not acceptable, a new chef is being trained. Does he know how to cook? Most residents are very ill, almost nursing home ready. I expected more people to be up and around. Not my definition of assisted living.

Excellent Staff

Although my mother's experience was short, the nurses and staff were very caring and competent. The facility is nice. I wish she had the time to actually enjoy the amenities and make some friends. I would recommend them.

Wonderful environment

Very happy and satisfied with the whole atmosphere. The staff, from top to bottom are helpful, friendly and on top of everything. My mom took no time to get adjusted. She seem happy and secure. She is getting involved in activities that I thought she would never do. She has made a few friends. She has only been there two months and has adjusted to a routine. She is anxious for nice weather to enjoy the outside walks and patio area. I am very happy with the cleanliness, friendliness, and concern the staff shows for the residents.

A Perfect Place For Family Member- Home Away From Home

I loved Brighton Gardens in Saddle River NJ. My Aunt was there for one year in a small, one bedroom apartment. She moved because she did not like the food at all and they only offered bus service once a week to the same supermarket. There were no planned trip anywhere else. She is now at a more active and expensive facility in a bigger room. They have a indoor pool and a full gym at the new place. I would rate it a 5, but I did not eat there. She would probably rate it a 4. They did ALL of her laundry, cleaned her room once a week, they made her bed and took our her trash every day, called me if she fell (which she did a few times) and they walked her small toy poodle which lived there with her when it was too cold or very rainy. Everyone I interacted with was kind and pleasant. I did not want her to move. Also they just finished a massive renovation so the place looks brand new. It is beautiful!! Also they have a resident dog that lives there named [name removed]and a beautiful fish tank. I think these 2 features make it much more homey and appealing for residents. The Director's name is [name removed] and she is AMAZING. Like I said I did not want my Aunt to leave there. It wasn't my choice. Grounds are beautiful and very well maintained too. Flowers all seasons

Exceeded my expectations

My mother is very stubborn. She will be 97 in March. She did NOT want any form of assistance. She uses a cane for security, in case she falls. I drove by Brighton Gardens with my daughter and liked the place from the outside. We went inside without an appointment, we were greeted with smiling faces and offered a tour. The staff knew all the residents names. The place was cheerful, bright, very clean and the residents looked happy. My mom is very happy here. It feels more like a home with friends and great service than an assisted living facility. I highly recommend.

Bright Gardens is the extended family we needed. (Exactly how we feel).

We and my folks are so happy with Brighton Gardens It was lovely to begin with and are currently doing a $6 million renovation. Two elevators, full facility generator. The staff is great. My folks place gets cleaned and laundry done every week. If they need help with a shower, the staff is happy to help. They call us if they see or hear anything off with my folks. All the staff from administration, sides, nurses, servers, maintenance are wonderful. We couldn't be happier. It is home to my parents. Sometimes they run out of things for the second seating but to food is good. The staff is wonderful.

The staff members are AMAZING! Brighton Gardens of Saddle River has a very "homey" feel about it, and they truly care about the safety and well being, both mentally and physically, of each and every resident that is living there.

Great choice for loved ones!!

We chose Brighton Gardens of Saddle River because it felt really good and it is very close to my home. They have lots of family activities planned. Not inexpensive, but then none of them are. My folks are very happy there and I am very pleased with their care. The staff is wonderful and the facility is lovely.

Fantastic Place

I think it's a great facility. The people who run it are fantastic. They've created a family-like environment. They know all their customers/clients, as well as their families. They go above and beyond in helping long distance families like myself in getting things done with third parties. Their cost is in line with other places. Generally I'm very impressed.

it is a little bit more affordable - in a nice area nd the people are very friendly

They are health driven when it comes to the meals but our loved one does complain sometimes about the portion sizes and the flavor. We have seen activities going on, our loved one is not much of a joiner but they do have activities in their living room area which is near the dining room that has couches and TVs. This community is more economical then others we saw in the area.

Good experience

We chose Brighton Gardens because they were close to where I live, they were highly recommended to us, and the overall admissions person was very nice throughout the process. The room sizes are adequate for what she needs. They send out newsletters and emails frequently to keep families updated and they also have an app called SMILE as well where you can get updates. I would recommend to others looking.

Nightmare on Boroline Road

I have talked to other families interested in this community, and I told them to run the other way. Unless your loved one is comatose and in a wheel chair, they can't handle dementia patients. I tell people don't go near the place. Also having problem internally. Director abruptly resigned at the first of the year, and I've had billing problems the whole time we've been there. Every time I call, she's always on vacations. It seems like staff are always disappearing and quitting. It's a mess. I sent a letter stating that my loved one would not be returning, and I never even received an acknowledgement of that letter. I honestly don't know how they're even open. Two or three outstanding staff, rest were incompetent.

Convenient location, easy to get to.

Staff is really nice. Feels like a homey place. I toured a lot of places and Brighton Gardens is the best place for us. The fireplace in the lobby is very inviting. The food is really good. The new chef is really good, food is important. The studio is cozy. Very convenient to get to, right off of the highway.

Beautiful Friendly Facility

I ran into medical issues and needed respite care for my mother while I dealt with them. Brighton Gardens is wonderful, and were very accommodating. They have a warm friendly atmosphere. I knew it was the right place for my mother when I saw how genuinely happy the employees were in their jobs. My picky best friend was even stunned to find she liked it - it met her high standards for cleanliness, friendliness and layout. I cannot say enough great things about this facility. Even Mom, who desperately did not want to go, was surprised to find how much she liked being there!

Cannot even bear to mention

God help your loved one here

I am actually giving Zero/No stars! You actually are showing pictures like this is a five star hotel?. Are you kidding me—are you serious or haven’t you been in the place for years on end?!! Most residents don’t bring in brand new furniture in their rooms & they certainly don’t come prefurnished!; the dining area and bathrooms have never looked like this in the entire time my mom was here. It is run by a manager who is nothing more than a glorified salesman and a supervisor who also doesn’t have one ounce of compassion and def doesn’t look out for the resident’s best interests! I wouldn’t put my dog here. As a matter of fact I am traumatized by what I saw my mom go through here and I was on top of everything constantly after I saw how she was being treated. If your loved one is in control of going to the bathroom when they get there it certainly won’t be long before they lose that as well. Not enough staff to care for each resident! Personally there are some great staff members who work very hard and don’t get paid nearly enough money and there are the ones who ignore the residents requests and end up stealing from the ones who don’t know any better. I can go on forever but for now I’ll stop. I’m getting physically ill just thinking about it again. Bring in an aide to your home & save yourself t heartache! This parent is deceased.

Brighton seemed like it had a lot going on which is ok but a little less homey and more of a corporate feel than some of the other communities I visited. Didn't think it was the right fit for my 93 year old mom but seemed to have a lot of activities and good level of care. Tour was adequate.
