A Facility that REALLY cares about their Residents
The staff was EXTREMELY helpful and supportive in the whole process. This placement happened in less than 72 hours. The WHOLE staff bent over backwards to get the room ready for move-in and in assisting us with the transition. The only reason the rating was not a 5, when the staff found out mom would be moving to a facility closer to family, they basically just took care of day-to-day needs for her and did not give the extra attention/rehab to improve her situation. After just one week at Brookdale, they stated mom did not need to be in Memory Care and could be moved to Personal Care. A few days later we gave notice mom would be leaving and they decided to leave her in Memory Care and not move her into the other care level even though she stayed another 30 days at the community. We can understand the effort involved in changing rooms, but at a minimum we would have expected her to be able to spend daily time interacting with the Personal Care residents. [name removed] as the Program Director, does an AWESOME job giving personal attention to the residents on a daily basis and highly encouraged their engagement in community activities. [name removed] as the Executive Director and head on-site Medical Manager took care to ensure all health needs were taken care of. She went over and above to address any concerns we raised. Overall, we were VERY happy, just a little disappointed they couldn't get mom time in the Personal Care before she left.

My husband was only in the Memory Care Community for 5 weeks It appeared to be a good for him . The staff was super pleasant to us. My husband appeared to have adjusted to his new surroundings. The unit appeared to be well organized The transition into the facility was easy.

My family member requires secure memory care, in addition to Parkinsons. All places provided did not provide for future more intensive care. Home would help w/future placement when/ if funds running out. Cross Keys in New Oxford was never mentioned. Perhaps because it's nonprofit. Staff knowledgeable, knew patients by name. Patients also recognized staff. Feel good about placement.

We found Brookdale to be the right fit for us. The staff and management are genuine and friendly. The facility is just right from a size perspective. It's the Goldilocks place. It's not perfect but it's pretty darn good. We are very happy with Brookdale.

I know they have lots of activities for their residents. Unfortunately my family member doesn't participate in them unless we are there. The activities we have participated in have been excellent. Excellent communication with us.

The overall experience is amazing and the community is always clean. We absolutely loved all the staff and they are very attentive to the residents. I think overall the meals were very good. The activities were inclusive for all. The cost was worth it. To say the staff was amazing is an understatement, the fact that they treated us and our dad with dignity, respect, and kindness meant the world to us. Dad had his favorites for sure, and they seemed to love him as well. I personally cannot thank everyone enough for the experience. I will always cherish the memories. I have recommended the facility to some of my friends who were looking for a place for their loved one and I will continue to do so. Again thank you all for what you do and did.

Definitely an interesting task balancing my interactions vs my Dad's and the fact that they were in the beginning of a management restructuring when he arrived. It has gotten better in many ways. The number of people who show they really care and know my parents is something special. The current executive director and head of medical are wonderful. They have monthly resident meetings and do everything they can to address any legitimate issues that arise. They have also been very helpful to me since I live 6 hours away and cannot always be there when things come up. While there has been a significant turnover but even my Father is happy with 90% of the staff. For the meals it has been really up and down as the chef has changed a number of times but the current one is pretty good. The biggest problem with the dining room today is sometimes they are short staffed for servers.

The staff was friendly and would treat the residents like people. I have heard of some bad stories from other homes. Brookdale kept my dad safe, and he seemed happy. They made sure my father was fed and even gave him extra if he wanted. Brookdale had mostly residents that are lower functioning. They would include the higher functioning residents in the activities for the assisted living residents. Lots of times I would visit on the weekend and there would be no activities, just everyone watching TV. For the small amount of activities and the fact they hardly ever went outside, it was the most expensive place I've found.

I would tell others to check on your loved ones daily. My mom was left on the floor for hours and when some finally came asked her what did she expect to have done for her.

Our mom was previously a resident at Brookdale Grandon Farms and they were a Godsend for us! I could not say enough about the care and compassion that we received from them. They are excellent. The management and staff were very helpful in answering all questions. They were very communicative with us. They made sure our loved one was cared for in the best way and went above and beyond. Also, the place was very clean. I would highly recommend Brookdale Grandon Farms to others!

When it comes to the cleanliness we have always had issues with his bedroom floor being wet/dirty from the window that needed replaced. The staff and everyone seemed nice, however they seemed understaffed and overworked. Never ate there. He didn't complain, but that's not uncommon for him. For the activities, they seemed to have options. After 11 months, we started shopping around and discovered we were being charged significantly more, for overall less service, than other facilities. We moved [name removed] to a different facility.

They are going through a staffing transition along with some staffing shortages but it is a really nice place and they seem to be very caring and trying their best. We have not had a long experience yet but so far we would recommend them to other families.

Finding a place for a loved one is difficult, especially for memory care. Brookdale has been wonderful. The staff is great and they really care for the residents. I do wish that the patients in memory care had more time outside and doing activities. Overall we are very happy with Brookdale and appreciate all they do.
