I love [name removed] the receptionist- she is the perfect first point of contact upon entering. The nurses are wonderful as are the CNA's. [name removed] the Activities Director was absolutely phenomenal with the residents. He had a calming effect on everyone and the residents LOVED him. He found another position with a company that will train him to be Director of their facility. [name removed] was an amazing Director but she wanted to move up to be a District Manager and found another position with a company willing to promote from within. The community liaison/ salesman [name removed] was also wonderful. He quit shortly after [name removed]. These people really were the reason I chose Brookdale Granger; I felt comfortable with them caring for my mom. Now they are all gone and it isn't the same. Brookdale has 700 locations and Corporate makes business decisions that don't align with a "home" atmosphere. It feels like a business now. There should be a separate memory care wing. My mother sits at a table with a woman who has severe dementia and can be quite unfriendly which makes meals uncomfortable for others at the table. We were told before she moved in that new carpet would be installed after the first of the year in all of the hallways. It has not been replaced yet and looks pretty bad.

I went and visited several recommended places for my loved one. My heart came back over and over to Brookdale Granger! The staff's longevity is proof of their love for the job and love of the residents. My mom wasn't thrilled at all about this transition but she fits right in and loves it! She smiles again and her involvement in activities has made her healthier mentally and physically.

The over all experience was not good. I believe the marketing person at the time lied about what was going on. When my dad first went there they were being served their coffee out of Styrofoam cups. This is these peoples homes. People don't normally drink out of Styrofoam cups. We were given some song and dance about it being the supply chain. That was a lie. It took forever to get regular glass cups. The rooms were a mess. I even brought in a mop and bucket to clean the bathroom floor my self. It was like a morgue in there. I don't think they had very many residents. It was just bad all the way around. But my dad hasn't been there for 2 years. Weird that I'm just now being asked about the experience.

The staff is friendly and helpful. Very caring with the residents. My mom loves the food and they are very accommodating with her likes because she is a picky eater. My mom enjoys the activities especially bingo!

Spent the afternoon with my mom and stepdad at Brookdale Granger. My step-dad is well loved by staff and very happy. Very clean and hospitable. The meal sounds great but they are serving Lima beans, so I gave 4 stars for that.

I recommend Brookedale Granger to anyone I know in need or ask. I have close friends who are at the sad point about having to make the decision about considering a place for their mom soon. I let them know when ever they discuss the matter with me that Brookdale Community will be the best decision they can make.

If anyone asks me if they should check out Brookdale Granger I would say no. My family’s experience for past year has not been good. Biggest issue is staff to resident ratio. We were assured when we originally visited and asked for a ratio that they had residents at all level of care but would always have enough staff. This is just not true. It has taken at times over 1 hour to answer the call light to the point that my dad says it is a waste of time to push it as they won’t come. Turns out that the call light in his section didn’t work right for months but even with it fixed supposedly, wait time is over 20 minutes on average. We have reported numerous safety issues for basic care like being changed regularly and just getting a weekly shower to incorrect medication. But when you have 1 nurse and 2 aides to care for over 35 residents this is what happens. They have a lot of staff turnover and good people are driven away by frustration with management.

I have had a difficult time getting a response from a few of the administrators when I'm in need of some information. The activities director and staff have been very helpful with my mom.

The staff is overall friendly and helpful. Our father was not able to move or get out of bed without full assistance. Unfortunately, due to staffing shortages, my mother had to handle most of the care for our father.

We cannot comment on the care services as I did not require much care other than therapies which were great. When it comes to the meals and the 3 star rating, they serve a pot of fish. Also cannot comment on the activities as I didn't do any. They can definitely improve on the food. As to the community, it's kind of hard to say because it was really hard for her to fit in right off the bat, like for meals it's kind of like high school. No one wanted to give up a seat. But when she got in with some new ladies that came in it was great. She was much more involved. Enjoyed getting out of her room. Therapies were great.

We've had a very good experience and have been very happy with Brookdale Granger. It's a top notch facility and worth checking out. They offer a lot of activities. I was pleased with how they handled a Covid outbreak that was outside of their control. I felt they dealt with it the best they could, in the best way possible.

My loved one's care is substandard. The cleanliness of my loved one's room is not up to par. There has been times that garbage is overflowing. The floor isn't vacuumed, there is no mopping, or sweeping by the housekeeping staff. The director is very responsive. However, the staff aren't able to go visit my loved one. The community only has 2 staff members to care for the entire population of residents. They are so understaffed, and the community knows they are understaffed. My loved one doesn't care for the food. The meat is hard and tough to chew, and the rest of the food is unappetizing. There are no choices for the residents to choose from, and there is no alternate if the resident doesn't care for the food being served. There was a time the community ran out of food. The community is supposed to have snacks available 24 hours a day for the residents, and the snacks weren't available. However, I saw where the staff conference room had a huge spread of food available for a meeting. This is unacceptable! The activities director is great. She is posting a schedule of activities available. The activities director tries very hard to get the residents engaged in the activities available. I have heard that she will have to go help in the kitchen instead of doing her job. The family is paying for the staff to check on my loved one a couple times a day and this isn't happening.

I probably should have known better the very first time I went to meet with the sales and marketing person, when I was searching for a place for my dad. After introducing myself, and talking a bit, he said, When your dad moves in with us." I wanted to say, "Wait a minute, YOU don't know whether or not my dad is moving in here, I have not decided that yet" I know this is a sales tactic. But I don't normally judge a book by its cover. So on it went and my dad did end if moving in. I told them he needed to have his foot pedals on when being transported in his W/C. He is 98. His room is a ways away from the dining room. He can hold his feet up, but he is 98, he gets tired. What happens when he can't hold them up, and has to let them down? He goes head over heals out of the w/c into his head. There were numerous times I found they did not put the leg rests on!! And I had told multiple staff members. I even had one staff member tell me he does better without them on! The last thing I will say, and it is positive. They now have a new Health and Wellness Director, (Director of Nursing). The new Director of Nursing's name is [name removed]. She has been there about 3 weeks. She is doing a very fine job from what I can see. My sister and I had a meeting with her last week, to address our concerns. She was very straightforward and truthful. Brookdale Granger is not in a good place currently. I believe [name removed] is trying her very best and has very good intentions of turning the place around. I hope that it is not too far in the hole, for one person to tackle the job. I believe [name removed], the nurse who has been covering both the Granger and [community name removed], is very good also.

Brookdale Granger was nice, but is geared toward people who are much further along the dementia progression than my father. Also, it was on the small side, in terms of people in the community.

The staff members were very friendly during our loved ones stay and the community was always kept clean. They always had a lot of activities going on for the residents who wanted to participate.
