Move in and get acquainted experience was great. Recently have a new mgmt company running the place and menus, medications and nursing shortages on weekends have been an issue. The billing process is delayed and communication with residents on billings is haphazard and has errors. Errors are not timely addressed with current month credits but instead a future credit which is frustrating. The facility is new, it is beautiful and well maintained. The kinks with the new mgmt company need to level out - the menu and billing errors are a big deal to the residents and their families. I wish my mom would be more involved in activities and getting to know people. It has been hard for her to move there and hard for her to accept the situation. I cannot attest to the activities as my mom does not take advantage of them but she should!!! Bless anyone who deals with the elderly as it is a tough job!!!

Both parents are here

They are the same if not a little cheaper than [facility removed] and they are newer and in my opinion much better. The staff really cares about all of the residents and their families. I have both parents here.

My opinion concerning Capstone

For memory care, Capstone would never be my recommendation. I saw an immediate decline in Don's memory in the first two weeks. He had a room where the air conditioner did not work, so finally, they brought a noisy room air conditioner. They were understaffed, and the staff did not have time to be with the residents. They would give the people to the main TV area and leave them. The other TV area would be on with the other on weekends. Locked rooms only added to the loneliness if the residents. About the only time he would see the staff was when they would come to tell him it was dinner time. He fell 3 times behind closed doors while there. How long he laid there, no one knew. I could not handle him being treated so coldly, so I brought him home and hired in home health care. I have heard from a healthcare place where their residents are on a waiting list to get out of the place.

Caring and compassionate staff.

I would rate all of them 5. He was there for 7 months, we had a few hiccups. Anything that I took to them, they fixed immediately. They were very good to my dad and he spent the last few months happy and safe. They really do care about their residents. I would choose them again, 100%

a very satisfied family

My mother has had lots of trouble with her land line. She can't see to do activities except meals, church and talking on her phone. She has a cell phone, but it's harder for her. She really enjoys talking on her phone. I also wish there was a community walk-in tub. It would be great for her knees and arthritis. Overall, we're very pleased with Capstone. I love that her family can share meals with her. My suggestions are very small when we look at the overall level of care. I don't worry about my mother. That's the peace of mind our family needed.

Very nice facility, excellent car

Dad, gets 100% of his medical care there. The nurses are great, they have a PA that comes there every Tuesday. We use their pharmacy company so all dad's medication is managed by their nurses and the PA and gets delivered there. They do PT with dad there 2-3 times a week and they have a podiatrist that comes there. They also allow cameras in his room which some of the others did not. That was a big factor for us. Vitality did not allow cameras. The only issues we have really run across is them changing cleaning people. They have gone through a couple since we were there but they have a good one now. Overall, we are very happy there.

Capstone Senior Living

What we like the most about Capstone Senior Living is the staff and the security and we would recommend this community to other families. The staff made the moving in process easy and very secure with knowing everything was being handled. The staff security and everyone there are very professional along with the dining menu options, and the restaurant style facility made things feel like you were not in any type of assisted living facility Felt like home.

Disappointed

1. Nursing staff : mostly external staff and revolving door of turn over. Many nurses making mistakes with meds and bad attitudes. Nurses who report direct to Capstone were good and experienced. 2. The facility had poor communication from administrators about problems and they seemed not to care about customer satisfaction to keep people in the facility long term once they have your $[removed]k community fee don't plan to get anything back even if you are unsatisfied. 3. Food choices were minimal and not great especially for paying [removed]k into in memory care and [removed]k+ month in ALF. 4. Laundry service was a mess and people's clothes were frequently lost and mixed up with others. 5. Very disappointed in the activities advertised vs activities available to residents. Very limited outings and activities for my mother were provided. Also no welcome of someone to show her around and get her involved into any activities and meet people as new resident.

Excellent facility

They were great with my husband. My only complaint was when a fill in director took over while the regular director was on a continuing education leave. She had my husband sent to psychiatric hospital for evaluation n my husband died about two nights a half weeks later. I filed a complaint with the state. He went into the psychiatric hospital a happy man and came out a vegetable. They cost me my husband. The staff were absolutely great with my husband n everyone called him Papa. The food was always great n I noticed the residents that had difficulty feeding themselves were always assisted n not rushed. It always felt like a family atmosphere. They provided activities for the residents n were always encouraging. My husband passed in [date removed] and I haven't been back since, too painful. I would recommend it to anyone.

Clean, comfortable environment

The friendliness of the staff gets a 5+, and the care services as well as the value for cost is a 3 (neutral). Staff and care was great- [name removed] was her favorite. I would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

I would tell my friend that they take good care of your loved one. The food is really good. They give my husband two meals if he is still hungry which happens often. It is expensive but all of the memory care place are.

Capstone

Our family has been pleased with our moms care. We do feel like the food service could improve. Food menu items are brought a few at a time upon request, rather than serving everything at once. The staff is friendly and my mother is happy.

Think Twice Before Sending Your Loved One To Capstone

Capstone at SC memory care is NOT a safe place for your loved one with dementia. It has had 3 to 4 exec directors which led to an insecure atmosphere.Enduring the problems there for 19 months was challenging for my husband and me.Problems included inconsistent heat and air, quality of food, and rapid caregiver turnover. They were often shorthanded with agency caregivers and nurses brought in that struggled with their responsibilities including handling medication properly. As my husband’s dementia worsened, he became sometimes combative. The director and nurses at Capstone failed to consult with the house doctor about this. He was on hospice but still sent to Trustpoint psych hospital without my knowledge. When he returned to Capstone, he was unresponsive, lost 10 lbs, had UTI, and bed sores. He died 9 days later. The MC director was unprofessional, rude and showed no compassion. There were a few outstanding caregivers that truly cared & showed God's love to everyone. However, stay away!
