The people make the difference!

After visiting several CCRCs in PA, I chose Dock Woods. Most were lovely & offered many activities and good food. But the difference was the friendly residents I talked to at Dock Woods, who without exception praised their neighbors and the caring staff members. The people distinguish Dock Woods.

Day to day service is inconsistent

The community liaison was extraordinarily helpful and kind during the admission/intake process. However, my dad has been in their memory care unit for over a year and they are consistently understaffed, they don't take care of his hygiene or personal care needs that diligently, and their food is extremely bland and limited. Also, while I am grateful to A Place for Mom for the initial help with locating a place, I am not a fan of how ruthlessly I was spammed afterwards by repeated emails and texts from the places on the list and from a Place for Mom, too. My experience was not unlike being marketed to for a pyramid scheme and honestly, I think you all need a more sensitive and less acquisitive approach.

The staff is very friendly and they communicate with us when something is wrong. The food is excellent and my loved one is very happy there. The place is very clean and the residents are well cared for.
