Duncan Manor is just like being home with lots of relatives living with you.

Mother moved to Duncan Manor from another Seniors complex because Duncan Manor had meal options. At Duncan Manor she had her own kitchen but when she did not want to cook she had the option of eating in the dining room. The big plus was the very friendly staff and residents. Any time Mother wanted to visit with someone she just had to go to the main lobby or go outside and sit on one of the covered benches. Soon other people would join her and there would be LOTS of talk and laughter. But when she wanted to rest or just read or watch TV she could go to her own room and shut the door. She had her own apartment ..her own home. Mother LOVED living at Duncan Manor~! and I loved visiting there and meeting all the wonderful and friendly Residents.

Slum

Cannot even have a coffee pot or microwave in units forcing the tenants to eat in the cafeteria, most meals are very very light as 1/2 a sandwich & a cup of soup are common fare... they are not under BC housing anymore so the rents are market value leaving ppl no choice in a tight rental market, they seem to think it is acceptable to have the garbage overflowing every week as they are saving money on pickup...

Intervention needed asap

I here, and wish i didn't have to. I wish i could afford to move to a better managed place. The administration here literally has said, ' we don't get involved with the tenants'. The management, changes the rules as they see fit. There is conflict of interest, between the board, management, kitchen, and so called office staff. nepotism is here too. The food is terrible and not enough for a grown man. There are always bedbugs showing up in various locations inside. It now takes 3 staff members to run the place when before there was only one who was great at management. The housekeeping staff are overworked and are in fear of getting fired if they even complain a bit. We cant even hire our own housekeeper without going thru the office and using theirs at their prices. We cant approach the board, as again, the rot is there too. We don't even know who is on the board, except the board chair, who is hand in glove with the management. All request for board member names have been avoided.

Brother rots with gangrene in a small disgusting room, covered in bedbugs and cockroaches

My Brother was an amputee and lived there,( amongest bedbugs and cockroaches, Ive got the photos of all the filth) last nite he passed away from gangrene caused by his leg that he still had left, that it spread through out his body, his Doc said she had never seen anything this bad, he had fallen spilt his head open at duncan manor, yet not one medical personnel noticed blood all over his face for days, and noone did anything while he was rotting to death, eventually on his weakest day there, it was himself that finally called an ambulance, not this facility!!!!!this place has not heard the end of this..going to a lawyer then the news

This place is infested with bedbugs, and it is being ignored. The food is nothing more than slop at best.

Thank you to Duncan Manor

Not sure what the person below is thinking but this place has really turned around over the years, the staff and the manager are absolutely amazing, striving to make Duncan Manor a better place and going above and beyond and doing excellent jobs. The kitchen has really turned around for the better over the years. To say this is a non profit low income housing, these guys really know how to make you feel welcomed and cared for as well as providing delicious meals and great support staff. Places that charge more in Duncan are not even near as good as Duncan Manor. If you don’t like where you live and you live negativity and you are negative towards other people and if you can’t be appreciative of all they have to offer then leave. I like living here and I like all the staff here. The person who runs this place has really made every effort to make my home and other people’s home perfect.

Not a Good Place at Any Price

Some of the staff are great but the individual running this place doesn't have a clue about customer service. The kitchen was terrible, then it got great for about a year, now it is terrible again. Too many people worki g here who are related to each other who have no idea how to do their jobs. No is the most frequent word I hear. Are there not any provincial authorities who check these places out?
