Positive experience

The director and the other administration were wonderful. Very involved and attentive. They were always available for questions or concerns. Nursing was great! Detail oriented and available for questions or concerns. The caregivers were also attentive and encouraged my father to engage in activities. The caregivers really encouraged my dad to stick to a routine which was very important for him. The facility also respected my dad's desire to nap when wanted. The staff would always ask my opinion about these types of things to make sure I was comfortable with my dad's requests. The activities were nice especially the outings and the musical activities. My dad really enjoyed those. The food was not great. However, if residents wanted something other than what was being served, there were other options. The food is where the facility fell short, in my opinion. It wasn't very good. Hopefully the food quality can be improved. My dad's room was always clean and he was dressed and up for grooming daily. The caregivers also made sure that my dad sat with his pals. This was very important to him. During meals and for activities.

Review for Grace Point Place Memory Care

Poor communications when leaving messages for the nurses station for a call back. My mother always has missing items. I know that it's difficult to keep up with all clothing. However, I would like a call back at some point within a 6 hour period . Maybe this would help. The staff are all very nice.

My experience was just ok.

It was available. While searching for a place for my wife, we ran into a lot of dead ends. The staff was great. Administration was all about the financial situation.

Room for Improvement

*Cleanliness and calming nature of site. *The administrative staff is caring and responsive but their directions to staff are not adhered to. *Short on staffing which led to mom not getting proper hygiene care. *Concerning that clients are kept out of their rooms for over 14 hours daily. Led to mom having swollen feet from sitting in wheelchair all day. *Finally removed her after she got a horrible UTI and was hospitalized for over a week. Staff/ nursing didn't pick up on her change. On my weekend visit I thought something was off and got her to hospital. *Food was fair but no variety. Clients would hide food under napkins so cooks wouldn't get upset. *Perhaps I expected more from a Memory Care Facility so I may be off base. An average facility that could use some enthusiasm from staff, activities and food. Nursing staff has to be more hands-on. Just giving medicine out is not enough. Wish them the best.

What they could improve on would be to have better activities for the residents, but overall it is a nice place. Yes, we would recommend Grace Point Place to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

Our families experience

The value for cost is grey area because the price has increased from the base price to over 50 percent then what we budgeted for [date removed] (when she was admitted) and now is more at prices elsewhere (which she will run out of funds much quicker)

Warm and friendly staff

I found the staff to be warm and friendly. There is a lack of staffing with a high turnover rate during the 2 1/2 months. They had a full capacity which because of staffing, private bath room was neglected a bit. I had to step in to make sure she was showered regularly thus doing it myself on occasion. The meals were decent but no imagination. Same menu almost daily became boring for residents. Had a bad experience because my mom wanted to go to bed around 6pm and staff was instructed to jeep them up until 8:00 pm after visiting hours. The process to get them all into their rooms took an additional 1-2 hours. After my mom complained I visited the facility around 9:30 pm to find my mom and a few other residents sitting in activity room asleep at the tables. I was upset. Brought matter to management who said the addressed it but continued to happen via nurses on duty. The morning activities were really nice but after lunch they mostly just watched TV or slept in their chairs. I had to work evenings so I think it was the same after dinner. I believe they tried their best but without adequate staffing it didn't measure up. Pulled her out after she contracted a horrible UTI that nurses didn't detect until it was almost dire. She was in hospital and rehab for a month. Brought her back but gave up 2 days later when her new roommate and mom didn't gel. I thank the staff for what they provided and hope my input might provide insight. Learning experience for me. I know what to look for as mom's Alzheimer's progresses and I need to place her in a facility. She's home for now and I will do better in the future.

If I could give this place a zero I would.

My mom was at Grace Point for 5 days and did nothing but decline. By the 5th day I found her unresponsive and no one could tell me the last time anyone spoke to her. I left her at 8:00pm Thursday night to find her Friday morning at 8:00 am in the same position and non responsive. She then was taken to the hospital and did not return to Grace Point. We took her home the following Tuesday on hospice care. I would not recommend this facility. We thought we were doing a great thing for our mother but soon found out it was not what we were sold when visiting the facility. If you cannot visit your loved ones day and night please don’t bring them here. I would have to show up every morning and get my mom up and dressed for breakfast and return after work to get her to dinner and then to bed. She was taken care of better at home. We had a terrible experience.

Highly recommend

My loved one was only here for 8 days, but these were my findings! I would like to add that everybody there from the nurses to the CNAs to the admin staff to the maintenance staff and of course Shannon we were absolutely accommodating and sympathetic and professional and extremely kind. The only drawback for me was that GP was an hour away from my home so I could not be with my mother everyday as I was used to.

The Place to Stay

I would highly recommend this facility to others. [Name removed] has been instrumental in my decision making, preparation for moving, and all other issues as they arise. My sister and her husband have been clean, well fed, attended to, and kept safe from falls or any potential injuries. There's open two-way communication, quality staff, and a clean no odor environment. I would suggest a booklet/guide with all information: mail, furniture suggestions, policies etc.
