I'm not very familiar with Independence Village since they just recently took over. I have heard that the food is not as good as when [removed] owned/managed the facility. The staff is usually very friendly when I go in and visit my parents.

Dinning and singing with family
I have two very special Aunt’s that live at Westcourt in Saginaw who I have had the experience of dinning and singing with after the meal is served. Four siblings, four cousins with one playing the baby grand piano and residents living at a Westcourt that enjoy singing. I do believe it’s a great place for any family member to live in there senior years.

Great
I Love living here. The food is great and you get choices, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The people are nice and helpful. The staff is nice and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone. Easy living. If I could change anything I'd have more seating (rockers)outside to socialize with others. And have dinner on holidays in the dining room with residents, instead of a cold sandwich in room. I would also like to have water, tea and lemonade available during the day at any time to drink and take out side on the front porch.

Wescourt was a good move
The people are so nice here - the residents, the managers and the staff I call our cheer givers. It was a good move for my husband and myself, even though we are still perfectly capable of living on our own. It’s nice not having to cook and maintain a house and yard. Wescourt is a beautiful and bright facility. They provide transportation, but we have our car and rent a garage here.

Nice place but not a good fit for me
We were there 24 hours. The help at night was inadequate to transfer my mother I had to help. This place is not wheelchair friendly. My mother was unable to get to the bathroom sink because of the cupboards underneath were in her wheelchair way. I talked to a gentleman that was on a scooter and they were shutting down the elevators for two days so that means he was stuck in his room for two days because they had no other way to get him downstairs. This does not seem safe to me. I think this would be a great facility for a independent living person, but not for anyone that is in a wheelchair or on a scooter unless they're on the first floor. The short experience was very overwhelming for my mom. I did have to pay for three months rent and we only stayed 24 hours. I was able to get most of my money back after writing a letter to corporate, pointing out some of the things that were misleading.
I do not want to knock the facility, but it just was not a good fit for my mom. It's great for independent people, but not so much for the elderly with mobility issues

Happy with our decision
The issue I have with the food is if you don't want to eat in the dining room, they charge you to package the food to take to your room. I think that should be free!
My loved one has a corner unit and there is extra room for a studio, it is plenty big. I did not see any of the other room sizes that they have to offer.
Overall we are very happy that we chose Holiday Wescourt.
