I love it here the residents the staff are fantastic. I would most definitely recommend this place to anyone for the value for the price. Right now we're going to renovations a little tough, but will be fantastic when it's done.

Nice Location But Room For Improvement
We left after 2 months, feeling like we were taken advantage of. Housekeeping that we paid for was hit or miss cause they were so short of staff and the staff assigned those duties had health issues that limited their work ability. Dog clean up stations were not emptied the whole time we were there and were stinking and overflowing. Friendliness of staff really depended on which staff person you spoke with. They were so short staffed that the managers were serving food, working in kitchen, cleaning apts. We felt like many services were lacking needed attention. Food was plentiful but high sodium, greasy, not aimed at lower activity people. We had better things to do with the hours spent waiting for your food with few servers and eating. The majority of food served to us was not eaten and ended up thrown away. As an active senior I was bored. Most residents chose not to participate. I started my own activity to share and it was well attended. Again, lack of staffing limited the offerings. We felt the cost was too high for the care, activities, food, and facilities included. Our current senior living choice provides many activities, is very clean, pleasant staff, and we are around other residents who are not sitting in their apartments waiting to die. The cost is over [fee removed] less per month with a lot more provided.

Thank you for your fettered feedback from your stay with us over a year ago, (though I don't understand why your feedback comes to us years later?)
As we approach our full restoration as a Senior community functioning with IL, AL and Memory Care.
Our Executive Director has a work history of being an Executive Chef and enjoyed stepping back into the Kitchen at times to help. Most communities do incorporate staff to help serve meals as other work requirements are on hold during food service.
Though short staffed at times, all duties of the community where, and are, completed in timely fashion.
I think if you were to ask the senior residents here, they would disagree with your assessment that they are just "waiting to die".
Sorry that your 2-month stay was so unpleasant, Good to read that where you are now you are happy.

Title warm friendly home
It was a great experience for my dad. Very welcoming right from the first day. Great staff. Perfect size room. Our experience was 5+ stars. Friendly staff. Residents were so welcoming and made my dad comfortable to get involved. He made friends the day we moved in and they would stop by and visit. Meals were a great time for visiting and laughing - love loved the desserts.

super friendly staff
The staff members at this community are just fantastic and our loved one has all the freedom. They have a transportation bus that will take the residents to and from different shopping stores, and there are exercise classes. There are no requirements for our loved one, they can come and go as they please. We wanted a place like that for our loved one but also has staff on site to assist him if he falls or needs something. We would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have currently had,

My mom loves it there except the fact her rent went up. The place is always clean. But they don't clean my mom's room once a week like they said they would do. Other than that we love the place. I've recommended it to some of my friends for their parents. Oh and momma Complains about the food. She has made many friends and truly loves it here.

While my loved one was living here she really enjoyed it and absolutely loved the staff. Since she has moved out I know that they are under new ownership. My loved one has friends who have moved out because they said that they new ownership has dropped the ball on some things.

The people were pleasant at this community but there was another community that was the best overall. This community did not have a medicaid option and that was needed. Also the environment just seemed less social than what I was looking for for my loved one.

Mom is happy here
We chose Kamlu Retirement because it is a very homey, smaller facility. The people are so friendly and everybody is really nice. It is very centrally located, not far from the hospital and it just close to everything you need. They have a bus that you can sign up for rides to stores or doctors appointments. The apartment sizes are reasonable for a studio, they do have other options as well on sizes. It is a lovely place and my mom is very happy here. I would recommend to others.

My review of Kamlu Retirement
Our family had an in person tour and we have a great experience. We loved the community but unfortunately it was just not what our grandmother was looking for. It did not have the full kitchen in the apartment to where she could cook for herself. We would consider Kamlu later down the road when our loved one needs more assistance and not independence.

I would recommend
I chose Kamlu Retirement because of the affordability. The apartment sizes here depend what side of the building you are on, on the older side the apartments are smaller, but on the newer side the studios are quite large and nice. The best part about the community so far has been the staff members and residents, they are very friendly. I would recommend.

My happy dance!
I love this community,Sweet it is.Management is very caring and helpful, at all times.The food is great, as we have 3 meals, actual full on meals, with 3 choices at lunch and dinner with a heart healthy choice at each. This is a smaller, bright and open community.I am blessed to live here. It is a little pricey for my budget, AND....it is truly worth it!

Compliments from a Kamlu resident
I have been a resident of Kamlu for 5 years. Some advice for a prospective resident. Ask how they deal with disruptive residents. Example, a nieghbor that is loud, theTV,Music,Talking to yourself loudly. An unsanitary resident. Sneezing,coughing without covering mouth and nose. Unwilling to change adult diapers when soiled. Compromise security by blocking the locked doors open.
Management that suggest a resident move out because the resident complained to Corporate,Holiday Retirement.
The noisy nieghbor is [name removed].
The unsanitary resident was [name removed].
He also would block open doors instead of
remember his keys.
Earlier this year we had a Noro Virus out break.
We were confined to our rooms for almost a week.
I had to use a laundromat at my own expense
all because we have residents that are unconcerned
with the well being of others.
Also dog owners that make noise with barking
in a confined area it is excruciating and unacceptable.
