Excellent care! Highly recommended for the price of the loved one's care
The facility and care by the staff was top notch. The nurse station is the hub to get information on how the resident has been interacting and behaving with the other residents. I could not have been more pleased with the care of my mother while she was there. Prior to my mother's death, Oasis staff kept me up to date on her diagnosis, medications, and comfort. As her daughter and primary health care advocate, I was pro-active and stopped by the facility every 2-3 days, so I was able to observe at various times how the staff and care was provided. During the final days of my mother's life, we brought in Hospice, at no charge, for my mother's care and to help make her comfortable. The Hospice coordination/documentation book was not completed by Hospice. But calling Hospice direct, we were able to get updates from their staff notes. Feedback was given to Hospice to coordinate this vital information to Oasis for better joint care. The Oasis mission statement matches their treatment and care of the patients! Highly recommended. Thank you Oasis.

This facility is state of the art for assisting alzheimer patients in maintaining quality of life. From their low ratio of residents to staff, staff training and expectations, to the safety and interior design of the facility which takes in to consideration the needs of dementia patients. [Removed] Head, the marketing director is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her work and the focus of engaged resident care.

Was very nice facilities. Liked the fact that they kept the resident/nurse ratio low. Drawback was the rooms were small and no closets. It was the first tour given by my guide...She did a wonderful job and seemed very knowledgeable.

Bad experience
Inadequately staffed. The staff they do have is rude and neglectful. This facility is not a good fit for people with Alzheimer's and dementia even though it is promoted as such.

We’re sorry you’ve had this experience. We take pride and encourage our families to openly communicate any concerns, ideas, or praises that will better serve our neighbors and their community. Here at Oasis Dementia Care our ratio of residents to caregiver is 6 to1. This ratio does not include our ancillary staff who most are crossed trained. We strive to only hire energetic people that have a desire and love for their job. Additionally, all employees go through an extensive course on caring for individuals with dementia & Alzheimer's, as well as several hours on the floor instruction with lead staff and administrators. Again, i am so sorry you have had this experience with us, I would greatly appreciate if you could give me a call to discuss the specifics of your situation that you experienced. I can assure you we will investigate it thoroughly.

They have been okay
They have been okay, but the problem was the original assessment wasn't very thorough, and they takes fall risk very seriously. We have to pay for extra care through another agency, to cover the care. Everything is clean, but I have noticed that since we brought in extra care, they seemed to have back off all care. There is a little bit of a lack of communication between the community and the outside care staff. It's been difficult to find something that works well for the in between stage.

We apologized for the experience you had with us. We try in every assessment to be as thorough as possible. We want to ensure every neighbor that moves into our community can be provided the best level of care. Our neighbors are our heart, their care is always our number 1 priority. Falls in the elderly population especially with dementia can be debilitating, so we do take fall risk very seriously. Our clinical department leader is aware of your concerns, will ensure that make sure all policies are being adhered to in regards to communication with outside care staff. Please feel free to give us a call to discuss any specifics, or ideas you may have to ensure that we are the best that we can be.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Indiana regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Indiana regulations for Assisted Living.
