Pilgrim Place Stands Apart from the Run-of-the-Mill Retirement Communities

After a national search of retirement communities, we chose Pilgrim Place for several reasons. It had a demonstrated longtime history of welcoming and including everyone (singles and couples, people from various faith traditions or none, LGBTQ people). We also liked that Pilgrim Place feels like a neighborhood within the City of Claremont, an easy walk to hiking trails, shopping and dining in Claremont Village and the Metro Link to LA. The proximity to the Claremont Colleges campus brought access to top-notch music, art, theater and lectures--free! Finally we liked Pilgrim Place's emphasis on building community, as well as its three values to make our world a better place.

Great Active Community in Great Surrounding Area

I have been living at Pilgrim Place for close to two years and could not be happier! It is an active and vibrant retirement community of caring persons dedicated to the values of justice, peace, and care of the earth. It is also in walking distance to the 5 area Claremont California colleges (which offer free concerts, speakers, and courses) and the downtown Claremont village with cafes, movie theater, weekly open street market, etc. Numerous progressive faith communities and grocery stores are within a short driving or cycling distance. And Claremont is in close driving and public transportation vicinity to the many attractions of Los Angeles and Southern California, including its warm weather, beautiful foliage, and cultural attractions.

Great place for active, engaged retirement!

Are you looking for an active retirement Community where you can pursue interests that were hard to find time for when working full time? Do you value peace, justice, and care for the Earth? Is living in an intentional community that cares for one another important to you? Do you enjoy attending educational and cultural events? If so, Pilgrim Place may be the place for you! Pilgrim Place Independent Living homes are filled with persons who spent their careers serving others through NGOs, Peace Corp, academia, teaching, international organizations, ministry, and volunteer groups! I love the fascinating conversations and the many ways to get involved in this life-giving retirement community.

An excellent place to live

I applied in 2001 knowing that Pilgrim Place was the right one for me to spend the autumn of my years. I have lived here since 2017 and love it. The mission of this retirement community of justice, peace, and care of the earth resonates so much with my own values professionally and personally.

I live here and I am so happy that I chose this place.

I live here and am so happy. I searched so many different CCRCs in So California and chose this one especially because of the welcome I felt during the lunch meet and greet. I have an outdoor garden and enjoy watching the birds in my backyard. Perfect for me.

A Great Community!

My wife and I have loved living at Pilgrim Place since 2012 in a beautiful 1929 Spanish style house. More like a college campus than a retirement community, what makes this place is the people. Think of people who have mentored/inspired you by their creative and caring lives. That is the kind of community you will find at Pilgrim Place.

Diverse and Inclusive

I like sitting with different people at lunch, thus being able to interact with more of our community, not just few. Being a gay person, it is good to live in a community where I feel welcome and accepted. It is rewarding to live with such a great number of people who are deeply committed to contributing to the betterment of our world.

Comfortable, Caring, Senior Community

My experience at Pilgrim Place has been wonderfully good. After 18 years here, I grow more thankful that my husband and I chose Pilgrim Place to spend our senior years. With the right balance of gentle care and needed independence, we have been delightfully surprised at the care that we have received. We have moved from independent living to Assisted living, and been welcomed into the loving kindness of staff and residents.

I would definitely go back

My mother was here for rehab after a fall. I thought it was very good. I was very satisfied. They have a lot of patients so you don't get the one on one care but I would rate them tops! I thought the care was very good and I would definitely go back there.
