We would very much like to provide an overview of our communities, and why we are so proud of our reputation as the hidden gem of senior living on Long Island. <br>Conveniently located in Western Nassau County, we are near Queens County, all Parkways and the LIRR. An even closer train station connection will soon open on Hempstead Turnpike, by the UBS Arena, making Plattseniorliving even more convenient for public transportation. <br>Because we have served seniors as a nonprofit organization for more than a century, we provide amenities, services and support at price points presenting exceptional value, for all our residents. <br>If you google "PlattSeniorLiving.com" you can see our web site and take a virtual tour. While many of our seniors initially envision that they would rather extend their stay in their own homes, this often leads to loneliness, isolation, accelerated sarcopenia, and cognitive decline. All our residents are encouraged to engage in group activities, including playing games, listening to live music, going on trips, doing arts and crafts, and making connections leading to new interests and activities. Engagement has been proven to be the greatest tonic to increase one’s “health span” and longevity. <br>At PHS, we serve the needs of independent, autonomous &amp; self-directing seniors 55 and over, who can ambulate, with the assistance of a walker or without, at least 150 feet. Our mission is to help maintain the well-being of our residents through case management, nurse supervisor oversight, service of nurse aids, integration of therapists and Doctors, engagement by recreation staff, and nutrition provided by our Executive Chef and his team. We support the physical and emotional wellbeing of our guests through focus areas of exercise, excursions, art, music, hobbies, cultural and intergenerational visits/events, education, and community service. Just like other private pay social model Adult Care Facilities, we work with long term care assistance providers, such as John Hancock, to support monthly maintenance obligations. Veterans and spouses of Veterans are welcome at PHS. Our Case Managers assist eligible residents and their representatives, to initiate the VA benefits process, which can partially pay monthly maintenance at Plattseniorliving, depending on need and services, on a case-by-case basis.
