Highly recommend
We chose Porthaven Manor because it seemed like a more friendly environment and we knew she would be the happiest here. The apartment sizes are good but she could always use a little more space. She is very happy here and we would highly recommend them to others looking.

Great place for people to retire.
It's a good place. They seem to offer a lot of activities. And they have a lot on-site for the residents. They have their own library, movie theater, and salon. And the apartments are nice.

Friendly community with a lot of activities
The activity director is doing a great job the residents just need to participate more. They bring in entertainment once a week, and play bingo, movies and crafts and exercise for the residents to do. They also had a really big party at the end of summer. This is a fantastic community for your loved one. There was a black out and they did the best they could to help us get through it and brought us meals to get through. I would recommend to anyone.

Great Care for My Parents
The staff made the transition very easy. It is a great community to live in. They exceeded our expectations. The community calls twice a month with needs or something they are seeing with my parents. This allows the community to intervene or myself.
Even though there may not be activities, they still find a way to engage the residents.

My thoughts
We chose Porthaven manor because of the price of the rent per month as well as the good location. I also love the apartments here, they are perfect size and very beautiful. The food is not very good, senior housing brings in the food but it is not something you would want everyday and it arrives cold. Overall I would absolutely recommend to others.

A blessing becomes tanagable
We are so happy to living in Porthaven now. We spent a lot of time visiting the different homes in our area, and finally picked the one we liked the best. When we first inquired and told them we wanted a ground floor room because it was better for our two little dogs to poop on the grass instead of the rug. We were told it usually is a one or two year wait... but we said thats ok , we will wait and made a holding deposit.... well "6" days later we got a call saying a ground floor became available...... We took it right away, and that day put up our home up for sale. So our house sold within a few weeks and we moved in as soon as we coud.
We love it there, the people, the staff, the location in the
center of Port Huron was an answer to our prayers.....
Thank you Lord for looking after two old folk. Amen

Great place to retire !
We have lived here for 2 months and already feel at home. It was quite a change moving from a 2000 sq. ft. house to a one bedroom apartment, but the adjustment was easy. The people here are very friendly and helpful to new folk who are asking questions. It is nice to have an outside door and be on the ground floor so we can let our two small dogs out. Staff is friendly and courteous and there are lots of things going on, if you want to join in.

I love it here!
I like it a lot here at Porthaven Manor. They are friendly and helpful. I have no problems here at all. I have choices for meals. I can prepare my own meals, or I can choose one of their meals for dinner and pay for it to be catered. They have donuts and coffee on Fridays for the residents to get together and socialize. The rest of the time they have coffee breaks in the morning for the residents. They have quite a few activities, I haven't gotten into many of them as I am still getting settled in. I love my apartment. It has a nice big living room and bedroom. Each of the apartments has their own patio. They offer transportation to get into town to go places like to the banks, shopping, doctor appointments. I'm getting acquainted with my neighbors, they are all very friendly. I fell in love with this community and it was affordable for me. Yes, I would definitely recommend this community to others.

Good Move For Mom
I am extremely glad we moved mom to this location. It has been so good for her. She is enjoying interacting with the residents there and joining the activities. She loves the food it's great. The staff has been so kind and friendly.

Getting to know the place!
The staff is doing a great job. Mom on the other hand says that she does not need to be here. Mom is having a rough time with the transition. They have activities, but again mom has not got involved yet. She enjoys her meals and the dining experience.

pleasant experience
We have had a very positive experience with Porthaven Manor. They have a lot of really good activities and keep my mother active and involved. They check on her regularly to make sure she has everything she needs, is well cared for, and is happy. They handle her administration of medication very well, always done correct and in a timely manner. It's been a very pleasant experience.

We have had a wonderful, wonderful experience here.
I am very happy with them. It's an absolutely wonderful place. They keep her busy and take her out. They go out of their way to be patient with the fact that she is hard of hearing. They are very structured, which is perfect for her. She is very happy, and that makes us happy. The meals are optional, they put the menu up for the month and she can pick and choose which ones she wants, or if she wants to cook for herself. We have had a wonderful, wonderful experience here.

I like that this facility i...
I like that this facility is independent to Asst. Living. I love the locaton, right in the heart of a busy area. The Blue Water bus pulls in front of the building every 40 minutes and can be utilized for 35 cents. The client can contract w/the health facility next door. The lady that runs the place was very pleasant and took time to go over everything. This would be my first choice depending on the money situation. I really like Pt. Huron. I like their Theater room.
