Tour experience
We had a great tour experience with Sharon Care Center. The main reasons we did not choose this facility was because they did not have the bigger apartment available right away when we needed it. The facility was also older, yet it costed nearly as much as the updated ones that we visited.

Would recommend if your hands are tied and don't know what else to do. Look at trying private in-home care.
I would recommend Sharon Care out of all the other options in the Lewis County area. They will work with you. Sometimes it's hard to get a meeting with a supervisor, but once you do, they're very courteous and try to handle and address the issues you bring to them. They're very short staffed, and a lot of the employees are not trained to do a whole lot. There's about 10 memory care residents to four caregivers, but even so, the residents are often just sitting around doing nothing. If you really need a place, Sharon Care would be the one I would recommend. But I would recommend private in-home care more if that's a possibility for your family. Sharon Care has very limited activities in memory care, but they try to do some type of activity every day. The cost is pretty extreme, but I think that's pretty standard for these places.

My mom has been in Sharon Care for the last three weeks following a serious car accident. Her therapists (physical, occupational & speech) have all been wonderful to her and to the rest of our family. They go out of the way to remember the little things like mom's preferences on how she likes her oatmeal and her fondness for cookies. I live a couple of hours away and they have always called me well in advance of any meetings so that I can make arrangements to be there. Requests are answered quickly by care staff and they are friendly and efficient.

Thank you Sharon Care!
My mother has been a resident in the memory care unit at Sharon Care in Centralia for the past several months. I have had an opportunity to visit her on multiple occasions. The staff are all friendly and very attentive to the residents. One in particular, [name removed], is amazing. He is compassionate and extremely patient. He always considers their safety and has a upbeat, positive attitude. Another outstanding individual is the house-keeper (female-can't remember her name), she is also genuinely kind and caring to residents and visitors. I work in the health care field and know this is a difficult patient population to work with d/t the uniqueness of their disease (dementia, Alzheimer's). Thank you to all who do such a great job of keeping my mom safe and for being there for her and all of the memory care residents every day!

Compared to the other facility I looked at, Sharon Care was much better. My mother is in a semi-private room. Other reviews say the rooms are nothing special and they are not, but family can bring things in to brighten them up. I am very happy with the care my mother receives. The staff check on her frequently, and appear attentive to all residents. The staff notify me of any issues that arise and don't mind when I call and ask about her. I have observed activities and meals. I was very impressed when I ran an errand while visiting my mother . When I returned she was wearing different clothes. Staff had helped her change after she spilled some juice. All the residents appear well groomed.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Washington regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Washington regulations for Assisted Living.
