From giving back to the community to redoing the building and adding compassionate employees. The Groves is the way to go if you want your retirement to last longer. Apartments are big, rooms are well equipped and family is loved

You should add communication to this list. It takes 10-15 minutes to get a nurse to respond to a call bell in a residents room. I called the facility from the residence room last night and the phone operator didn't have any contact info to get assistance to a room. The Dietitian visited and after 2 weeks, nothing has been changed in the residents meal plan. There has been many communication issues. The recruitment staff was great and there are a couple people who wor really hard but they don't retain staff and none of them ever know what to do. They have to get a nurse and there is only 1 nurse for 3 floors+

[name removed] , the director, is wonderful! If your family member has dementia/mental issues, ask her to attend the assessment with your loved one. The woman who did the assessment can be cold and without [name removed] there my husband would have been intimidated.

Well worth it, everyone is nice. Affordable option but you wouldn't know it from visiting. Nice sitting areas and clean private rooms and bathrooms.

I appreciate the staff, and residents and glad about the general environment. Hope everyone considers what they could get included in the price compared to other locations for seniors citizens and those that need such care

I have nothing but positive experiences with this facility. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, my friend liked this place and the staff. I hate she didn’t get more time to spend there, so God took her home

The facility has a lot of maintenance problems. I have been told by residents the food is extremely cheap and barely edible. Staffing is a major problem with a high turnover rate. The staff try to fix issues you have but communication is so bad it takes several phone call and an in person visit for things to get done. It's one of the more affordable options for assisted living. The other places are too expensive and would require the person to get Medicaid along with its restrictions.

We were told there would be assistance if needed, none is provided. They have issues with bed bugs. The cleaning staff does not clean regularly. The woman in charge yells at my mother for her dog who is an emotional support dog. The have removed chairs from common areas so they cannot sit. Washing machine broken. No air conditioning in my mother's apartment. Mold issues.

Rosewood Nursing Home Independence MO is horrible and abuses residents daily. Cruel treatment from nursing staff Withholding meals for days from residents. Do not consider this facility or the Groves of Independence MO.

Excellent physical therapy department. Responsive medical staff. I love Dr. [name removed]. My mother's health has improved while living there. The facility is old, but a new director just hired and already seeing improvements.

Nurses were great and very supportive. Very clean and did not smell. My mother did not participate in activities but Christmas was very festive and lots of Christmas music. Even though she was supposed to go eat at dining room she didn't feel like it so they would bring her a tray

It has been the worst experience for my sister ever. My sister was hit by a car and had not walked since December 2023 before she was transferred to this place. When she arrived it was like a ghost town and never seen employees. She had 2 broken legs and 1 with a rod which she could not bend and left broken arm. Day 2 she had to get in the wheelchair by herself to get to the bathroom because they never answered call light and then she had to start wearing depends because of accidents. Never changed the beds and we had to bathe her. Insurance lapsed so they stopped PT. Why is there such a thing as case worker if they can't do their job and missed her first doctor's appointment. She is doing better by getting in the wheelchair and taking couple steps at a time but fell last week. Still waiting on insurance so she can start PT which is the reason she was transferred there because it is the rehab facility. Limited resources due to insurance.

Our family had an in person tour with The Groves and based on the tour experience and the community it was just not going to be the place for our loved one. IT also did not have memory care.

I hope this helps. They are honest I can say that. They have all new management and they are really trying to impress all of us. They are going through a readjustment phase from what I can tell. I would rate the overall community a 3 I think. I want to give them a 4 but they do not have enough staff to help the residents more than they are. It's a judgment call I admit. I think they can reach 4, in time.

It is clean and they go above in de orating for each holiday. Looks great and always festive. The staff are very friendly. The groves has a new activity director and she is adding more activities, they still need more added in my opinion. They have changed directors and nursing director since my mom came in sept. The hot food is cold most of the time when served to resident in eating area. They need to improve on that add more fruit.

Please do not have loved ones there, change of ownership in last 2 yrs, the place is FILTHY, my loved one moved in 6 yrs ago, was great, now it's a nitemare! The food is a nitemare, shortage of kitchen staff, have one employee in kitchen more than once in last 3 months for 350 residents! Dinner served at 8pm in styrofoam. One dinner was mashed potatoes with canned corn thrown in and brown gravy, 4 bites of frozen chicken nuggets. No salad no milk, no fruit, no drink. I have the pictures to prove. The pictures you see are over 15 years ago. Potholes for months in parking lot, dead trees, landscaping the allowed weeds to over grow, place will be shut down I'm sure, it couldn't get worse I think, then it does, residents barely get proper care due to high turnover. Im sorry its HORRIBLE

A Place for Mom has scored The Groves 6.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
