The Landing Senior Living

The Landing Senior Living is an inviting community surrounded by scenic views. Located across the street from a residential neighborhood in Roseburg, Oregon, the community is less than a mile from the local hospital.

Whether residents are in need of assisted living or memory care, the community offers short- and long-term stays for both. All residents receive on-site care provided by round-the-clock caregivers and medication assistants — all of which is overseen by licensed nurses. Caregivers not only provide personalized care but also help coordinate and provide transportation to off-site medical appointments. While receiving on-site care, residents live on campus with a total of 73 apartments designated for assisted living and 21 designed for memory care. Depending on their care type, residents can choose between a studio, shared suite, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartment options.

Beyond on-site living accommodations, the campus is filled with various amenities and activities. Throughout the community are features like the beauty salon and barbershop, the fitness center, and the secured courtyard — not to mention the restaurant-style dining room, where residents can socialize while enjoying home-cooked meals that are made from scratch. In between mealtimes, residents can find friendship through multiple programs, such as aromatherapy, Tiny Stories™, True...

Review for The Landing Senior Living

Food / dining experience- 4. Overall the food / dining experience is very good (but not exceptional) There is a variety of foods. In fact, my mom has gained a lot of weight since she moved in 2024. The dining experience is mom's favorite social activity, 3x a day! They have a large group of friends who sit together at each meal and who know each other quite well since they spend time together 21x a week!! I would not recommend this place to others who are looking for a place for their loved one. I wouldn't recommend due to majority of caregivers not listening to residents and poor communication between staff and other staff and staff w/family.

Our experience with The Landing Senior Living

I recommend The Landing as a safe, caring and friendly place to live. My MIL had lived in Roseburg and knew The Landing was being built. When she no longer could manage and maintain their home in Florence after my FIL passed, we toured The Landing. She liked it right away. There are lots of windows, natural light, beautiful natural wood in the interior, and friendly faces. Aging can be challenging with changes in independence and dementia. The staff are kind. I know this industry has a lot of turnover, but the staff were excellent. I observed some of the online orientation and training for new hires glad there was some. While an ALF is not the same as home, staff are caring and professional and I saw enough times how the staff communicated together to help the residence and keep them safe. Other awarenesses, my MIL was a vegetarian and there were times the food offerings were not very interesting to her. My MIL liked to go places, but was not safe to drive. She would have preferred more/varied weekly shuttle outing-activities. She was not open to a hired caregiver that could have driven her to shops, or getting her nails done to give her more normal social life. Ask more detailed questions about available transportation if you are not available to go to medical appointments, etc. There is not enough parking for staff, residence and guests combined. My MIL did have a POLST on her refrigerator, and the few times 911 was called, no one took a copy of the POLST. Took me awhile to figure this out. But a DNR at the ALF does not translate to a hospital as an order- they need the POLST. I hope the staff know this now. Over all, The Landing provided amazing care and safety to my MIL for several years and through Memory Care with Hospice.

Look elsewhere

Don't put loved ones at the Landing. Much of the staff is good, but they are stretched thin. They are on their third administrator in a year. The place is a mess. I moved my parents out of the Landing, it was a very bad experience.

The front desk reception is exceptional! Everyone is so caring. Lots of great activities to do. Love how The Landing gets involved with community. They are working on getting meals out hot.

My husband and I lived at the Landing, for about a year and a half. We both love it here. The many activities keep us busy and out of our small apartment. Our apartment and the rest of the building are kept very clean. The food is too delicious. I gained weight.

Exceptional care and exceptional organization!

The Landing Senior Living is a new building, so it's nicer from that perspective, as not every facility has that advantage. I'm very impressed with the staff. They all care and I've watched them provide orientation. I'm very impressed with their level of orientation, a lot of the staff were involved in facilitating that. There is a labor shortage and like most communities, they are a bit short-staffed. I'm unsure of the exact amount of turnover, but there have been a lot of familiar faces over the past several months. I know majority of the staff by name, so from that perspective, that feels good. I'm also a nurse, so I pay attention to the safety aspect. I can say that they are very safe, very clean, and very well run. They pay nice attention to residents. When dealing with a lot of residents who have different "thoughts", it's pretty amazing that younger people want to take care of older people with dementia. I'm really grateful that a place like this exists, I feel it's pretty well run.

I would recommend them to other families

We went with the Landing because they were only of the only places that had availability in their memory care unit. They are a newer facility and they were also less expensive than some in the area. The staff were great and did a good job with communication. My mom was in memory care and they control that side very well .There is no ability for the residents to leave voluntarily and there is very good access for family members to come and visit. They also control medications well and it is very secure. The facility was always clean and well maintained. The staff always seemed readily available and were super friendly and welcoming.

Caring People and Beautiful Place

I would highly recommend this community to others for their loved ones. There are a lot of activities for the residents to participate in. The staff tries to engage the residents in activities. The food was good. [names removed] do a good job running the community together.

Finding Your Way Through Heartbreak

There are some staff members that go above and beyond for the residents. The community seems to be willing to accommodate dietary restrictions. There has been some challenges in keeping staff during the pandemic.
