Thank you

This place is amazing. They took such good care of my Mothers needs and wants from the day she entered the facility to the day she passed. The staff treated her as if she was family, as well as treating her blood family as family. My Mother really loved living here. She was a long term patient. I want to say thank you to all the staff at the [name removed] and the [name removed] units for the loving care my Mother received. The staff always took the time to answer all our questions and concerns. Drs, administrator, nurses, etc were always available for a conference call with both my brother and I, and we both live in different states. My brother living in Richmond so he spent every Sunday with my Mother at the Laurels. Some of the staff held her hand as well as my sister in law as she passed and they wept. Thank you always for being so kind. We will never forget. I would like to mention some people by name to say a special thank you for always making my mother feel special.... [name removed]

Don't, just don't!!

The nursing staff was ok but the office staff, especially the Social Workers, are LAZY and REFUSE TO DO THEIR JOB!! Notified the Administrator and never heard from him. Then the staff wanted to discharge my Mother HOME, without ANYONE APPROVING IT, knowing full well she was unable to care for herself. I was lied to several times, and threatened!! This place is a NO GO!!!

Run away

They were not administrating his medications correctly, he was on a thyroid medication that he had to take first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. They were giving them to him at night after a full day or eating. If you are in a shared room, it is so crammed and there is no where to sit. His cable went out while here and I asked for maintenance, they told me they did not work on weekends so they wanted him to just sit there in his room in silence. The staff were always extremely rude to me. All of his clothing was labeled and they lost more than half of his stuff, so I had to buy him a whole new wardrobe before I moved him out. I would never recommend them.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! The staff is terrible here and no one seems to want to do their job! I, unfortunately, had to stay here for 2 months for rehab and the staff NEVER answered call bells, they gave the wrong medicines, told me wrong information--it was a nightmare!! Things got so bad that I had to take things to the head nurse, the president of the park, who both were jokes, and finally I had to call the ombudsman to get things taken care of! It's as if not one person there cares about their job or about the patients there!!

Everyone seemed so nice when they want to get you in there. It was just horrible; my sister almost died this year in there when she ran a 103 fever and no one would even come in the room. I ended up calling 911 myself and thank goodness, got her to a hosptial in time. Since then, her friend's father who is a Dentist in Richmond was given the wrong medicine and went into seizures. He thankfully left that day and never went back. STAY AWAY IF YOU LOVE SOMEONE.
