My mom was living here I went to visit her on Mother’s Day and she was dirty, had ants crawling on her and all over her room, her feet were extremely swollen and she seemed confused. I asked them to transport her to the hospital and was told wait until she saw their doctor. That very next morning I called and asked for her to be transported to the hospital and was told the same thing and the nurse said she’d check her meds. I went back about 1 that afternoon to be told in person to wait for their doctor. In the meantime I went back in her room she was still confused and started to have a seizure. The nurses on staff had no idea of what to do. I kept saying turn her in her side and they didn’t listen. The head nurse took over 5 minutes to come and then and only then decided to call 911, 911 told them to turn her in her side and that’s when they decided to do it 10 minutes after her seizure began. I couldn’t turn her by myself I tried as they watched. The paramedics came 20mins after.

We picked this community because, I needed a place that took Medicare when he ran out of money and another family member was there a long time ago and it was good. They can improve on the communication. The food is terrible, they have moved my loved one twice since moving in.

There were almost no residents here during the tour. The community was dark and an older building. They had mannequins sitting on the couches to make it look like residents were sitting there.

My mother has being in the facility for over two years, and we can said enough of the great care she has received from all the staff. We look at many facilities before and they were very impersonal and cold towards their residents. From the first day my mother arrived at Wellshire she felt very comfortable. Last year she turn 100 years old, and they had a great celebration for her, well above our expectations. All we have to say is that Wellshire is a great facility .

My loved one resides at The Wellshire and he voices satisfaction with the care given and likes the staff and other residents which makes his stay more pleasant. I have developed a good and positive relationship with the employees, and they have always been available to answer any concerns that I may have and have always been up front and notified me of any changes needed for his care and benefit.

The Wellshire has been an amazing place for my dad. He was at the previous place for over 2 years and he physically declined. He could not walk anymore and was in a wheelchair full time. He moved to The Wellshire in December 2019 and within 2 weeks, he was walking with assistance and continues to improve. The staff is honest, hardworking, professional and dedicated. Their commitment to the health and safety of residents during COVID-19 has been incredible. I can't recommend them enough!

We were very pleased to find The Wellshire for my parents. Very difficult finding a caring place for TWO parents in their 90's, in wheelchairs. It was important that they could room together and they were given a large and very bright room. You can tell The Wellshire prides itself on cleanliness and it shows, also residents receive baths 2-3 x weekly. We also were pleased to not have an ala cart price schedule. Their staff is all CNA's and nurses and management there is very involved and knows every resident and their families. Also they are adjacent to the Warren Barr Nursing Home if the needs arise in the future for more extensive care. I feel in this difficult time they have handled the ongoing corona virus outbreak extremely well compared to others in the area. Thankful for all they do.

I was not in need of finding assisted living for Mom, I was looking for my sister. She has various conditions with special needs. The administrators and staff have been wonderful with whom to deal. During her 3.5 years I have observed all of they all of them to be cheerful, considerate, and kind to all residents.

We have been very happy with the Wellshire. We placed my Aunt there about 9 months ago. Their communication during this difficult COVID time has been very helpful. We feel she is in good hands and one less concern to deal with. They have always been very responsive to our needs.

For loved ones with memory care issues, this is NOT the place for them. Staffing is not appropriate for what is needed. Residents are able to roam in and out of rooms, taking things, messing up rooms, eating out of the general heated food containers, because there is no one to watch them.

Mom spent her last 6 months at the Wellshire. She was at 2 other facilities in the prior 4 years. Her family typically spent 2-4 hours every day with her through that time. The IMPORTANT things are way over the the top of anything we experienced before. She was always clean, never left unattended for hours on end, kept active and encouraged to LIVE not waste away. She passed this week well cared for and loved by her caregivers. Many residents came to visit her in those last few days. Those 6 months were a wonderful end to a wonderful life full of activities, laughter and friendship and cared for by genuine loving caregivers.

We have found that the overall care my mother has received at Wellshire to be very good. There have been few issues and those have been resolved quickly by those in charge. The atmosphere there is positive and there are various activities offered at different levels depending on interest and ability to participate.

Not at all what we had hoped. Seems very understaffed. Food not great- way too many meals of hotdogs. No one was making sure mom had help with brushing her hair or brushing her teeth daily. Management was very abrupt and defensive and took very long to offer any remedy for the situation.

Because the Wellshire has a Sheltered Care License, they can provide quality care for my mother through all stages of her aging. The all-inclusive pricing is rare compared to the pay per service add on at other locations. This all inclusive rate helps me budget and stretch my parents funds for a much longer length of time. Staff is very knowledgeable and kind to my loved one and to my other family members.

This community is clean and my loved one has a fabulous room. The main complaint with this community is the food. They do not offer a good menu of options. This community is in a nice quiet location. The staff are professional and attentive. I would recommend when you look at this or any community you go during meal time to see what the food smells like and how it looks. Do they have a nice dining room with a wait staff. I also would say not to be fooled by the entrance to the community, take a look at the whole place. Make sure the food they serve and the activities they offer are the right ones for your loved one.

I know that all of the residents complain that the food they serve at Wealshire is just terrible. They indicate that each of the residents can have special diets, but the kitchen fails to get that right.

Our family is concerned about bill payment practices at the Wealshire. I am a health care professional and this is a true and ongoing story. Since June 2014, the Wealshire administration has acknowledged--in writing--multiple times that they owe our family a refund of over $6000 for nursing home care previously provided to our elderly mother (now deceased). However, they have repeatedly failed to pay this debt to our family. Over the past year, my sister and I have had well over 30 email communications with Wealshire staff, including very high level administration, regarding this outstanding debt, without any success in receiving payment. The Wealshire's pattern of behavior is not to respond, or occasionally to respond and say they are sorry and will pay, but then never to send the check. This has happened multiple times, including most recently January 2015. The situation is very concerning as either the Wealshire cannot run their business effectively and pay a simple family refund, or they hope that over time our family will just give up and go away. For these reasons, we want to share our experience with the Wealshire and offer a warning about their business and specifically debt payment practices. We have found that we cannot rely on the Wealshire to pay the debt they acknowledge they owe us.

A Place for Mom has scored The Wealshire 1.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
