Windsor of Gainesville
It's very homey and not industrial. I would recommend The Windsor of Gainesville to other families looking.

Above average but have room for improvement
Some things are disappointing and others are great. Immediately we discovered that the length of time for the meals was shorter than their brochures and even shorter than what was posted in the hall. Hmmm. There hasn't been an in house salon person for two months. Some of the aids are great, others not so much. The good ones don't seem to stay. Response time has been okay but at times my mother has waited over an hour for someone to come. She wears compression socks and needs them on before breakfast, she missed breakfast twice because they didn't get to her on time. Overall it is a good experience with some hiccups. We installed a camera in the apartment because people kept leaving her door unlocked. After two weeks with the camera, that has only happened once. There are of course things they could do better but we are pleased in general. My mother does complain a lot about things but she seems to be doing better. She does have high standards but for the price the standards should be high. The big blessing is that I can be there in 10 minutes if I need to and when we are out of town I know she is safe.

Review for The Windsor of Gainesville
I would say that my dad lived it there. He was very happy. I would recommend Windsor. There was a nursing issue at the end. There were lots of communication problems. My sister and I stayed with my dad for several days until he passed to make sure he received his meds properly and timely.

Extremely beneficial
Our case manager was on top of things from the very start. He knew what we we were looking for in regards to our mom, and led us in the right direction. He was always available, and checked in often. He was great at his job, very positive, and compassionate.

Life extending care by family
I found the Windsor of Gainesville in a time of crisis. My mother's sudden physical decline (her cardiologist didn't think she had even 6 months left); my father's sudden mental decline made it clear they couldn't live on their own, and I didn't have the skills or knowledge to care for them well. I took them to visit a couple of places. Only the Windsor felt like home. It was a terrifying time. As we settled mom and dad into their apartment, the staff was there to meet them, take over administering their meds, and begin their care. My parents' health improved and they enjoyed another 3.5 years at the Windsor. Even through Covid. I am convinced that the care of the staff extended their lives. They were family. When my father was in hospice 45 minutes away, staff visited him. When my mother was in hospice care at the Windsor, there was always someone with her. When she passed, Windsor staff was at her memorial to share memorial. They were there for all of us. We are forever grateful.

Excellent personalized service & care
My parents moved into the Windsor about 5 years ago and the experience has been wonderful. My parents moved from a large commercial assisted living facility where the management seemed more interested in money than their residents. Windsor is totally different. My father was a "difficult" resident but the Windsor staff were so sensitive to his reality and made him feel really welcome. Mom has been living in the memory care unit and has received wonderful care and she has thrived. I feel sure that she would not still be with us without the great attention and caring support she receives at Windsor. The staff are great. If you are considering placing your parents in an assisted living facility, you should visit Windsor before making a decision.

Excellent choice
I recommend Windsor to all my friends because of the compassionate care, many varied activities, delicious nutritious meals, medical care available in residence (professional medical oversight, X-rays, blood tests, doctor visits, medicine delivery), and it is visually a lovely place to live with a beautiful courtyard and pleasing decor. I had no experience with the award-winning memory care unit, so I can't recommend that.

Relief
As my mother in law grew older, falls and memory loss grew as well. We tried in home care but it didn't fit her needs for we had trouble staffing the shifts and we were worried about her regressing. We visited the Windsor of Gainesville and fell in love with the atmosphere. So many things to do and stay active! It was challenging at first of letting go of the responsibility of her well being, but the staff from top to bottom are spot on with care, concerns and communication. They eased all of us through the transition with smiles and hugs. Everyone is always friendly and calling the residents by name. You can feel the love they have for family members and their jobs. She has gained independence (within her own ability) and has made friends. No longer do we get the phone calls from her feeling lonely and stressed. She is at ease and calls her apartment home which is relief.

Memory care at the Windsor
I recently had a loved one at the Windsor in Gainesville and I was overall very pleased with the care provided. There were a couple of hiccups, but the people providing direct care were for the most part outstanding. They worked together well to take care of my family member. I also observed the care they provided to the other residents. It was such a relief after our experience at a different facility. I wish we had made the move sooner.

A Compassionate and caring Home
My cousin lived in a retirement community in Miami in Assited Living. She had been single all her life and I was her only family here in Florida. When the decision was made for her to move to Gainesville my wife and I explored all the available retirement communities here in Gainesville. The Windsor was superior in all aspects. Although she needed assisted living she had mild dementia which we were concerned would ultimately lead to the need for memory care. We never needed to place her in memory care but felt it was the best Gainesville had to offer. The staff was professional and compassionate. [name removed] and our family loved her time at the Windsor.

Great Value!
At the Windsor of Gainesville, you get a lot of amenities and a beautiful community at a reasonable price. The apartments are large and well-designed, the staff are caring and competent, they have fun activities often, and the food is good, too. Minor issues are handled professionally and with good communication, and they treat their employees well. Overall, one of few communities I would consider for my own family.

Transition
A few years ago my loved one displayed signs of dementia. We looked at available senior care assisted living facilities in our area which would also offer a memory care unit for possible future needs. We decided upon The Windsor of Gainesville. We toured the facility. The staff was very friendly and the residents were friendly and happy. The dining room is inviting and meals are tasty. The medical staff are efficient and caring. The entire facility is clean and cheerful. There are daily activities offered and occasional field trips. If needed, the transition from the assisted living to memory care is smooth since the staff are already familiar to the resident. Once transferred into memory care (Reflections) the resident is more closely supervised; dressing, bathing and eating are assisted if needed. Residents are encouraged to participate in group activities. Meals are served in the dining room. My loved one found all her needs were met in both units of the Windsor. Highly recommended

The Windsor was the right choice for Mom
We really only have positive things to say about the Windsor since Mom moved into an assisted living apartment about a year ago. Best of all, she truly feels like this is her "home". The atmosphere is enhanced by the positive attitude of staff, who make her feel special. They show true concern for her care and often knock and come in her door to see how she's doing. The meals are excellent and Mom can't say enough good things about the desserts nor about the way the chef personally walks around to check on them. Activities staff work hard to keep coming up with new, fun things for residents to do, including reward tokens for participating. The facility is clean, home-like and upbeat. Our Mom loves it!

Pleasant and safe place for our loved ones
The Windsor at Gainesville definitely gets 100% 5 stars. We like that the community is on a smaller scale, and of course like most other communities they are understaffed which is their only downfall - the staff that do work there are absolutely wonderful. They are beyond friendly and helpful and if they need help in another area the staff will come help - if they are down workers in the kitchen the director or sales representative will step in and we really like that. The facility itself is very well lit, it is tastefully decorated, they have high ceilings that make it feel much more roomier. The community feels very safe and is functional. It is very pleased to the eye, our loved ones really enjoy their apartment and feel very safe. The dining room is very enjoyable, they have great tablecloths with nice napkins where staff come to take your order. There are multiple meal options. They also have movies every night in the movie theater with popcorn.

The Windsor of Gainesville
my cousin lived in this community for over 4 years. She loves her apartment with its view outside of the birds and foliage. When she was able she loved to go to the dining room. She loved the food. The staff was always compassionate and took good care of her. I have nothing but praise for the facility and staff at the Windsor
