Review for The Windsor of Venice

The Windsor is a horrible mismanaged facility with a staff who does not care, starting with their director [name removed] My brother had moved out of there to [name removed] It is bright, cheery, clean and the staff cares. At The Windsor, I was paying extra for my brother to receive a shower and shave daily. Lucky if he was showered and shaved a couple times a week, but they were charging me for that service. The doctor at their facility changed my brother's medication without informing me and took him off of his memory medication critical medication for him. She also administered his blood pressure medicine at the wrong time of day, which could have contributed to a fall, which caused him to go to the hospital. When I ask how that happened nobody there took responsibility and they said it wasn't their area. I would NEVER recommend this facility.

Secure building

We chose The Windsor of Venice because of the hurricane proof building, no need to evacuate the residents in a storm. Also, a nurse is on duty 24/7, not simply on call like other facilities. The facility is super clean and the building is built to withstand a category 5 hurricane which is very important here. The food has been good and bad, they are undergoing changes in kitchen staff and operations. It will improve.

Good fit

Staff was great, she was in memory care and they were nice . It was very nice and they helped her with getting in quickly ! At first we were not aware she needed the memory care but they assessed her and it was the right move.

The Windsor was lovely. Our reasons for leaving were unrelated to any of the services provided.

My Mom simply wanted to be in her own home. The Windsor could not compete with that. She has few if any physical limitations and same for emotional. It provided a safe haven for her kids (myself included), knowing she was receiving her meals and a safe nurturing environment. However, the nurturing was not enough. She found it hard to engage w strangers, has hearing limitations even w hearing aids. It was clear to us that she wanted to be in her own home. We have nothing but positive comments on the Windsor. She thought the food could be improved, though I ate there several times and thought it was fine! It was an effort to get her to engage in activities! It’s just not in her nature. Thank you for caring for her these past 3 months.

I gave a 5 star review in June. Changing my mind!

I said that I loved the staff and I still do. Well most of them. I think that they are totally under staffed. I asked them not to do my Mothers laundry just her towels and sheets. I was there last Tuesday and took her clothes home to wash and left a laundry basket full of her towels and sheets with a note to wash them. Wednesday is laundry day! When I went today they put them back in the closet. Laundry basket was stuffed with her towels and sheets from last Tuesday. So I took them home to wash them. I have a note on her closet door. I don’t know why people can’t follow simple instructions. Maybe they can’t read English. One more thing the food isn’t so great. I spoke to the regional manager and he hasn’t called me back yet. I’ve moved my 91 year old Mother 6 times in the last 6 years and don’t want to move her again. Hoping I can change things at the Windsor it’s only 5 minutes from me. I adore my Mother and just want her to be happy!!

Review for The Windsor of Venice

I would have no problem telling anyone that all of the staff and residents are like family. I can be away 1 or 2 days and know that my Mom is safe and being taken care of. My Mom loves being there.

The Windsor of Venice review

I'll give a 5 to all of them. I love it there and my Mom does too!! What our family likes the most about The Windsor is the staff and all the activities and the new friends my mom has! We would absolutely recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

Cared for like family

I cannot say enough great things about the Windsor. My father lived there in assisted living and memory care. They were incredible First impression- clean-variety of meals and activities and most importantly the staff all seemed happy and able to get along well. My father was in another community before in NC and though it was clean with good activities and food, the staff was not great. The staff at Windsor are top notch. My father was well cared for every day. Especially in memory care-personalized attention ...

Review for The Windsor of Venice

We picked this community because, my dad said it felt like a homey environment. This also means it has a human scale -- big enough to offer a variety of settings and gathering places, but small enough to be comfortable and accessible distance-wise. We would recommend the facility for people seeking a safe, welcoming place, with a helpful staff with a range of activities and services. We appreciate the nursing staff, the med techs, and the salon professional. The folks we see in the dining room clearly know my parents and their preferences. [name removed] at the front desk is VERY helpful. Overall, all the staff are friendly and do their best to help. The one area that needs improvement from the perspective of my parents is the food.

Peace of mind, Great communication and truly caring staff

Please note that my father in law passed away within 3 weeks of moving in and my mother in law was there for 3 weeks before having to go to a rehab facility and was/is currently immobile..and is still in rehab. So these answers will be based on pre move in communication w The Windsor and 3 weird weeks of limited extra services. The staff has been AMAZING and has gone above and beyond. [name removed]at the front desk is very caring. The administrator worked with us in a very difficult situation for move in. I think it's important to know that we, as the residents' children, had great communication from the staff...which is SO important when you are far away.

Windsor of Venice Review

I think they do not promise what they say they will. I see my mom sitting by herself a lot I thought they would do more activities. I have had to ask several times to have them cut up her food before they give it to her. She has not been here long, I am hoping to see some improvements.

A wonderful place to live. My mom is so happy. I don't think she ever had this many friends. All she does is talk about the Windsor. My brothers are so happy with this decision.

She was very knowledgeable on the community and gave me information on Dementia, which no other community took the time to do. I left there very confident and a good knowledge of Dementia and the community.
