Vintage Care of Palatka

The staff was great. The activities were great. The activity staff was great. The main complaint is that the facility needs updating. I would recommend the facility as a whole, but the building needs an upgrade. But the staff makes up for what the facility lacks as a structure.

The care givers are very nice and attentive.

Vintage Care is a small community ALF in Palatka. It seemed to fit him better than a large facility with lots of bells and whistles (that he cannot see, partake or hear much). My dad is legally blind and only has 32% hearing, so a smaller facility can attend to my dad better. This was his choice. He is still ironing out the kinks, getting used to living in a facility, making sure meds are given on time ( they've been great), etc., etc. No place is perfect but he is safe, clean, fed and meds on time.

Needed Improvement

These responses are from my loved ones and myself. My loved one's first night at Vintage Care of Palatka, the staff did not have a call button in the room. Knowing my loved one is a high risk for falling, the Vintage staff should have had a button for my loved one. With that said, my loved one had a fall on the first night. My loved one was laying on the floor for a very long time. My loved one continued to beat his shoe against the floor after falling, hoping someone would hear and come to his aid. That is unacceptable!!! When my loved one asked for help from the staff with taking medication, he stated that the staff looked at him as if he was crazy. My loved one has tremors and drops pills on the floor. Staff would hand my loved one the pills and then walk away, even though they were asked for help. Unacceptable! The only care service my loved one received was his daily medications. My loved one did not attend the activities. I feel that it is priced too high for the level of care that my loved one received.

A Desired Place for Your Mother

I think it is an outstanding place for your loved ones. It's friendly, and they truly care about your loved ones. If I had to do it again, I definitely would choose Vintage Care of Palatka for my mother.

They are friendly & caring. It is always very clean. My husband is in their daycare which is a big help to me. He seems to be enjoying it much more than his first experience but I know it takes time for him to adjust. For the first time, this morning he said it was time to leave for Vintage. Believe me this was "music" to my ears.

A great place for mom!

What we really like about the Vintage Care Senior Living community is there are always activities for the residents. They are not treated like children rather adults with some needed direction. I do feel that for the cost of the facility, everything should be provided for the residents. The family is expected to provide all toiletries including trash bags and toilet paper
