my review after six months
I'd like to qualify my opinions/experience rated earlier by saying this is based on the memory care unit, I can't speak about the assisted living side, nonetheless , I feel they are valid, maybe more so. Communication needs improvement. Activities staff is above par Nursing seems to be lagging. Messages don't always get to whom they are intended. All in all, I wish I had chosen a different facility

This was a wonderful place until around 2020-2021. Around that time they ‘modernized’ the central living area which made it cold and unwelcoming. They also hired new staff members which reflected the same idea. No one ever really seemed to know or understand my loved one - they would just call me and complain about her. Putting her into memory care was the worse thing - I’ll regret that forever.

It was fine when we toured the place. But my father was placed in memory care and it was terrible everyone upstairs and a nice cafeteria people in memory care got crap food. 2) nurses in memory care were only CNA's they were not trained in dementia care 3) my father acted up one Sunday with no violence and they shipped him to hospital without letting family know. He was told he could not return the hospital told me he had a bad UTI and sepsis after treatment they would not let him back and he became a word of the state he ended up died 2 weeks later.

I would recommend them. They have a good community. We picked this community because, she liked it better. The other places were a little stuffy. The staff are very friendly and courteous.

We are very happy with Wingate. The staff members make a point of knowing everyone's name immediately on arrival, which is really comforting. The activities are great, varied and interesting. The meals are good but could use a bit of an update. Fresh vegetables and grains for example. It's been a very positive experience and my mother is happy.

We are so grateful that A Place For Mom matched Mom with Wingate Residences. The staff was so helpful as we navigated entry and move-in, and answered our many many questions kindly and well. Staff from CNAs to food service to housekeeping and maintenance have been friendly and respectful. The other residents are welcoming. There are so many activities, Mom picks up the daily schedule every morning and lives by it. And the food is wonderful! The main meal is lunch, which makes sense for so many health reasons, the variety great and options plentiful. Transitions like this are hard, but Wingate has done everything possible to make it easier. We appreciate it so much.

Staff very approachable and available for family concerns. Brochure says 90 min of assisted living staff but that is not always the case. Will come when called. Do clean each week and for a fee will do laundry. The place is clean and bright. Activities available each day or weekly.

My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 7 months ago, and after a couple of personal incidents it became relevant that she would no longer be able to live in her own and need assistance. My sister did the research and said that Wingate received the best reviews, and we learned quickly why. Through Wingate’s concierge program, my mother was introduced to the friendly Wingate way through 2 professionals who showed her the ropes and introduced her to everyone there, starting on day one. It was easy for her to acclimate and find friends right off the bat. There have been no incidents brought on by Alzheimer fear, and the staff keep her busy with fun activities throughout the day which keeps her both happy and her mind occupied. The effort by the entire staff to keep her and the rest of the residents comfortable is excellent. I would highly recommend Wingate for anyone in the market for assisted living.

My mom is currently a resident at Wingate Residences at Melbourne Place. All of us are happy with everything going on at this facility. I don't know about the food, but mom likes it. This facility is the perfect fit for my mom. She is more active and mobile now. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

Beautiful facility; Director of the Neighborhood, [name removed], is very attentive and accommodating; fun activities offered; quality care, although the staff is extremely busy; mediocre food. Overall very satisfied with our choice to move our mom into the locked unit over a year ago. She is very comfortable and happy with her room and has adjusted to the routine of her day. I would recommend this facility for anyone needing the care offered.

The ease at which we maneuvered through this whole process, as far as meeting with the sales team and everyone else, there led us to have everything done within two weeks time - which to me, is amazing. I would describe their staff as very friendly, caring, and engaging. Some of their activities include live music on a weekly basis, and my mom has been doing some exercise programs like Pilates, yoga, etc., that she didn't participate in beforehand. They really included her and made her feel welcome to join in. They also have weekly shopping trips, wine and cheese on the deck every couple Fridays. They have any number of activities for the people there.

It is a lovely place when you go there and look around, the deck outside is beautiful to look off of and it has a very pleasant atmosphere. The community is relatively very clean, however our loved ones room could of used a little more cleaning and their laundry could of been done more on a regular basis. Our family did not had a good experience, the care was terrible and so was the theft. Our loved one did not receive their medication for moms, because the aids did not call the pharmacy for new prescriptions. Also our loved ones hearing aids were stolen and their eye glasses went mission for two months. We would not recommend this facility.

Wingate is a nice place. The seem to really be on top of things and take good care of my mom. They are aware when she isn't feeling well and are quick to notify me and keep me informed of her care. I feel like they are doing a good job. There has been a little bit of staff turnover but I have found that my mother is still being well taken care of. We chose this community because we liked what we saw on our tour, it seemed like a smaller organization, and we liked the location. The building is a little dated but they are working on updates . I would recommend this community to other families.

My father lived in the assisted living part of the building from 2013 until 2017 when Epoch ran the facility. That part of his experience was great. He had to move into memory care in 2017 when Wingate took over the facility. Our experience in that part of the facility was poor. There was not enough staff, his bathroom was often filthy, the set-up for activities was not good as residents had to travel in a small elevator to go down a floor for activities and most of the activities were not anything my dad wanted to participate in. Most of the time, people were just in front of a television set. I would not recommend memory care to anyone.

My mother has been a resident for over 2 years now at Melbourne. The staff are always friendly and show their care when attending mom's needs. I feel that when I do have a question about her care, it is addressed in a timely and professional manner. My mom always looks well taken care of, and the staff provides activities which are appropriate with residents who have dementia. Since my mom always loves the outdoors, I'm glad that Melbourne provides a courtyard where she is able to sit with other residents and staff members and be safe. It allows her to enjoy the good weather days.

The room is a little small for dad. The staff have been great. This community does seem a little expensive for a respite stay. The food is good and they have a nice dining room. The community is clean and I would recommend this community for a respite stay.
