Yorktown Assisted Living Residence

Make sure you do your due diligence on this place. We had our parents here and the first administrator. [name removed] was fabulous and so was the staff after she left. Everything went downhill.. we have since had two administrators with the latest one, [name removed] always complaining to residents . everyone is overworked and they are understaffed. You can tell the difference in the staffs attitude. No one seems happy . The activities are basic not very engaging , and the call bell response is now very long. When [name removed] was there, we used to get regular emails, highlighting activities that I loved ones had attended etc. Now it’s very hard to get any answers from staff . The director of nursing [name removed] is very caring but some of his staff are cold and uncaring . This is not an environment for your loved ones to be in. It’s also extremely expensive.. They just raise the rates again and none of the money is being reinvested into the facility. The chairs and furniture are very rundown.

Yorktown Assisted Living has all of the best aspects of a warm, loving and caring home. Residents' rave about the incredible quality of the cuisine. The list of activities is too long to list here but it certainly gives residents many intellectual challenges. I must also mention the many live music performances residents enjoy each week and special events such as Casino Night. The staff, all professionally trained and loving, take excellent care of all residents and housekeeping keeps the entire facility spotless.

Hi, my 89 year old father moved here over 6 weeks ago from the Firemen’s Home in Hudson, NY. He’s from the local area and wanted to be closer to family and friends. And also wanted his own living space, which he never had for the past 11 months at the Firemen’s Home. My Dad is confined to a wheelchair, can’t walk and has severe osteoarthritis. I was happy to find out that Yorktown ALR accepts patients with wheelchairs. An aide even wheels him to the dining hall for his meals. My Dad has a beautiful apartment, with plenty of space. His small apartment was freshly painted and very clean upon arrival. And it continues to be cleaned by Housekeeping Services. My Dad is very happy in his new home. He loves the food ! The staff are super nice, and someone is always available if needed. I highly recommend the Yorktown ALR for anyone considering moving a loved one to an assisted living facility. My sisters and I are so glad that we relocated him here.

My 83 year old cousin came to YAL Memory Unit in March because her dementia was worsening& she needed more care than her Assisted Living Facility upstate NY could offer I got a warm vibe the minute I walked into YAL. [Names removed] were incredibly helpful in getting me through Onerous NYS application process. My cousin was warmly welcomed upon her arrival& made to feel at home. She now participates in numerous activities and says the food is wonderful. She loves getting her hair done in Beauty Salon YAL is immaculate and staff is very attentive and patient—they Keep everything running smoothly& make a very difficult job seem simple. My cousin enjoys the lovely enclosed garden now that spring has arrived. I can highly recommend YAL.

Our loved one has been a resident in memory care at Yorktown Assisted Living (YAL) for almost 2 years. Making the decision to move him from home to Yorktown was very difficult and emotional but he needed the safety and care that he has at YAL. He has adjusted very positively. He has been able to maintain his independence in a safe and caring environment. He enjoys his room with a view into the outdoor courtyard. When asked about the food, he always says, “I’ve never had a bad meal and I’m a picky eater”. When asked how he feels, he says “I’ve never felt better”. He also enjoys the art, music and game activities. All of this makes the family feel that we made the right decision and we do not worry about his safety or well-being.

My mom has been at Yorktown Assisted Living for almost a year and a half. She is on the Memory Care Unit. She moved in shortly after my father passed away. We have been so happy with the residence. The staff is very attentive and caring. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Walking in the front entrance you immediately feel like home. My mom enjoys the variety of food. There are always activities.

My mom has been at YAL for four years. The facility and staff are great. I know my mom is well cared for. Staff will always get on the phone with me and are very helpful when issues with my mom arise.

Yorktown Assisted Living became my new home over a year. The staff is supportive with my needs. For example, providing transportation to local stores, library, bank and drug store. Additionally, there is a wide variety of local doctors for our needs. I am very happy and appreciate the newspaper being delivered to my room every day. The art room offers a variety of activities that help me to relax and socialize with other residents by doing arts and crafts, painting or enjoying live entertainments. Yorktown Assisted Living is a great place to live!!

From the moment we first visited this lovely residence, we found it to be warm and welcoming. My mom has a lovely little apartment which she calls home. She finds the staff members to be very friendly, kind and caring. Whether it’s a custodial or medical need, she has every confidence in the staff to take good care of her. And they do so in a warm and caring manner. The food is excellent, and my mom enjoys dining in the attractive dining room with her friends. She enthusiastically participates in the many fun activities this residence offers. So much so that I’m hard pressed to find the best time to call her as I don’t want to interrupt when she’s in an activity or enjoying a meal. I truly can’t say enough about how pleased we are as a family to know that mom is enjoying her elder years in such a special place! We feel very blessed to know that mom is truly at home at Yorktown Assisted Living Residence, and we are grateful.

I have been pleased with the care offered to my relative who can be quite controlling. Yorktown answers all of my questions and concerns and returns my calls in a very timely manner. Since I live several states away, I have not experience the activities but the calendar indicates many different activities are offered to those who want to participate. Due to covid restrictions, I have not attended meals but, again, what is listed, offers a variety.

I have lived at Yorktown Assisted Living for almost two years and it is no surprise that A Place For Mom gave Yorktown a 2023 Best of Senior Living Award. Their executive staff is both professional and caring. Their home health aides and nursing staff take excellent care of the residents. Their housekeeping staff keeps the facility spotless. Their laundry service is awesome. And last but not least, their food is comparable to a top-line restaurant. I would encourage any prospective applicant to take a tour and learn about Yorktown's outstanding schedule of activities.

Two years ago we found ourselves in a position of needing to move our parents as many others have. The decision wasn’t easy, Moms health wasn’t good and she was the primary caretaker with Dad relying heavily on her. The week the move was taking place mom had her second stroke leaving Dad to find his own way. He moved there awaiting our mother to join him which sadly never happened, she passed six weeks later. Yorktown Assited Living took our father under their comforting wing doing their utmost to welcome him, offer support and assistance and acclimate him in his new home. When our mother passed away their support of Dad was also extended to us, it was truly heartfelt and welcome. Today, a bit over two years later, Dad feels safe and supported by all the staff. They keep us informed of his progress and are on top of any concerns. Of all the assisted living facilities we reviewed we found Yorktown Assisted Living to be the better choice and have not regretted it once.

Our mom has been living at YALR for just about one year and we are thrilled with the services and community she now calls home. Her apartment is spacious, bright and always clean. She has the independence of living alone, along with staff who are caring, thorough and friendly and take care of all of mom's needs. We are thankful that there are nursing staff in the building and like the Dr. who monitors the residents. YALR has activities for everyone and a great car service that takes people to doc appointments, shopping and out to eat. The food is good and the lobby lovely and inviting. We were very lucky when there was a spot open for mom. She has made friends, has friends come visit and is lucky to be close to our family. Thank you YALR.

This facility is very dated with old dark furniture, not a lot of day light in the common areas and just not an appealing first impression. There was nothing uplifting about the tour from seeing a person's room who was no longer there, but their personal items still were with an unmade bed, dated furniture, clothes etc. I would have rather not seen a room at that time. No staff members smiled or were interacting with anyone living there. It was a very depressing atomsphere. I could not picture my loved one there at all.

My mother has dementia and is in the memory unit. My father is legally blind and lives on the assisted living side of the facility. An excellent choice if you have parents with different needs. Management and nurses are very accommodating so my parents can spend time with each other. The management and nurses are very kind and sensitive to our concerns. The aids vary. Some very good, others not so good. The facility is very homey and the atmosphere is friendly. The memory unit is most spacious memory unit I have seen and has a very sizable outdoor space. Management of medical needs is excellent. Food is very good. Music program is very good. Aids could engage the dementia patients more. My parents are happy and everyone in our family is glad we selected YAL. I highly recommend YAL.

We highly recommend Yorktown Assisted Living Residence. They have been wonderful for our family as our Mom needed to transition from independent living. Initially, Mom needed to move to Assisted Living. Throughout that process the team at YALR was extremely supportive and helped guide us through the process. Unfortunately shortly after Mom moved into Assisted Living she needed to be moved to Memory Care. Once again everyone at YALR did everything they could to help us through the process. Today Mom lives in the Memory Care unit and is kept active, well fed, entertained and extremely well cared for. Everyday the team at YALR helps Mom get dressed, takes care of her personal needs, makes sure she is happy and comfortable...and even makes her bed. In addition to the wonderful staff, the facility itself is wonderful too. It is modern, spacious, clean and well appointed. As tough as it is to know that our Mom needs an environment like this, we can't think of a better place for her to be.

It was a very heartbreaking and difficult decision to make. From the tour and the staff helping me with the paperwork, to the setting up of his room, the compassion and expertise of Yorktown Assisted Living is noteworthy. The memory care unit is visually attractive. I especially like the 2 courtyards and fireplace area. Everything is always clean and never messy. The staff is very attentive and caring. They have activities throughout the day. My friends and family that have visited him tell me how impressed they are with Yorktown Assisted Living. Especially the kindness and professionalism of the staff. It is a great comfort to me to know I made the right choice placing my husband in their care.

I moved my parents into Yorktown in [date removed], after a long search in the tri-state area. We needed a safe and secure environment that provided lots of caring and support for my two wonderful parents. My dad is a retired physician and my mom an artist. Both very outgoing, fun and intellectual. We wanted an environment where they would thrive. Yorktown fit the bill! The staff has been very accommodating working with me on billing, their apartment and all the little things that goes into living comfortably. They have gone above and beyond to help my parents feel at home and provide all the required necessities with a smile! Their room is so wonderful; clean, bright, airy with lots of windows. Freshly painted, new carpets and a lovely kitchenette is just right for their needs. The have made new friends, really enjoy the food and activities. I highly recommend Yorktown Assisted Living!

Yorktown Assisted Living is special -- the staff is very loving and caring and offers a licensed nurse 24/7. In addition, residents enjoy medication supervision and physical therapy, . The apartments are luxurious and include kitchinettes, laundry and housekeeping services. The chef-prepared meals are restaurant quality. Activities are too numerous to mention and include bingo, Wii sports, gardening, arts and crafts, music, lectures, movies and documentaries.

I am beyond grateful for the warm welcome and smooth transition for my mom, into Yorktown Assisted Living Residence. The director and staff helped mom feel right at home and were able to assist with her medical needs. My mom is a very new resident and has made several friends already. She loves her new friends and has already participated in activities. I cannot express in words how grateful I/we are that she is happy and in good hands. It couldn’t be a better fit !!!
