Review for Brookdale Arvada
My Dad move into the assisted living unit there and has since moved on to memory care. He is happy there. I feel like it's a nice facility but just understaffed as many are. I would recommend to others. I feel like Brookdale truly cares about it's residents

Inquiry Minds
My dad didn't do much so it's hard to say. He didn't like their food and I don't think they cleaned him or his room very often. I couldn't stand the smell of his room!! They lost his cell phone when he went to the hospital.

Always room for improvements
I have eaten at the facility and the food stinks, I have a picture of a stuffed bell pepper that they were serving my loved one, and it looked terrible, and they put macaroni and cheese on it. I think they could use more variety of activities. overpriced.

Review for Brookdale Arvada
My mom was also in assisted living when she first went to Brookdale. I did not think she was given enough care, which is why I moved her to memory care. The general facility is beautiful, but it seemed to me that they were understaffed most of the time in the 6 months my mom was there. The staff that took care of my mom were, in my opinion, top notch!

Overall positive review
Overall, I'd rate Brookdale as a positive. There were times I would have to search for staff to be let out. Also there were times I had to tidy [name removed] room like pick up discarded gloves or tissues. I initially had issues setting up direct payments from my savings but after a couple of months it was squared away, but it was very frustrating for a time. I can't give you a long term assessment as [name removed] passed from a hemorrhagic stroke on [fate removed].

Friendly. caring. clean
I have been recovering from surgery at Brookdale Arvada. It is a smaller community and the staff is caring and friendly. The facility is clean and updated. There are nice indoor and outdoor common areas. The activities staff makes sure the residents are engaged on activities they like. The chefs provide a variety of options and try to accommodate food intolerances. The mix of residents is about 50:50 femaile; male. The residents are also friendly Dog- friendly too!

Review for Brookdale Arvada
Very nice facility, staff wonderful, but short , they would do anything if I asked, but so overworked and undertrained people from the surrounding community. Not enough nurses. Still for the price it is very nice, and I would recommend it

Better care elsewhere.
I had several bad experiences with Brookdale Arvada. The worst was they failed to give her medications for over six weeks. This was extremely dangerous as she was on blood pressure medications. Another issue I had was that her room was on sanitary. I frequently found feces in the shower and all over the toilet. It was clear that the bathroom was not clean very often. And finally, I didn't think they did a very good job of encouraging my mom to do activities. I would not recommend Brookdale Arvada to anyone.

Wonderful staff, worth a look
Finding a place is a difficult thing to do. Brookdale was a good place. She really needed more care than they could give. Using A Place for mom was helpful since I do not live in Colorado, so it was good to have some ideas of where to start looking. The staff were very helpful and caring. They took extra time to contact me in California if there was something they felt I needed to know. They always responded to her calls within 5-10 minutes. I felt that she was in a safe place. I would recommend the facility for someone who is looking for a smaller place/facility for their loved one. It is good for someone who does not have too many health issues and is able to get in an out of bed on their own. The staff did the best they could for my mom.

Our experience
I haven't really had experience with any other facilities, so I can't compare? My mom was only there for 2 months before passing away, and she was an emotional roller coaster..one day she would say the food was so good, and the next day she would say she couldn't eat it..? We had no trouble working with the staff, but as usual, they probably could have used more help - they were never fast enough for my mom.

My experience with mom at Brookdale Arvada
So many of the staff are caring and wonderful. There is a lot for the staff to do and staffing appears short at times. I am in healthcare and understand turnover, which is challenging to manage. I think there are challenges to get to the less than important things like laundry, changing linens, etc but the staff really appear to be engaged and sincerely care about all the residents. There is time the management over promises and under delivers, but overall I know my mom is safe, cared for, and I will always be informed of any issue or concern. Kudos to the care team at Brookdale Arvada! Thank you

Our experience etc.
Did appreciate the hair salon, very friendly and worked with me to get appointments setup for my Mom. I didn't like when the staff removed items from my mom's room for her safety and not contact me. ie some little black lacquer tables with glass tops and original decor. I understand why but should have called me to see if I wanted to come pick them up. Instead I went in to visit my mom and noticed they were gone and had to inquire. End result they lost the glass table tops and they replaced them after I had to go through a lot of hoops. [name removed] was great! The medical staff kept me up to date on my Mom's condition, Father [name removed] called and talked to me and a counselor. Brookdale staff knew me when I came to visit and were friendly. I just felt I got lip service when I had some issues and took awhile to resolve. I told one person in charge of the dementia side I didn't want to complain but that was for my mom's comfort etc. They were supposed to keep her hearing aids at the nurses station and each morning put them in and at night keep them at their station. I don't think they did so and one of the hearing aids was lost. These were expensive. I had to buy a hearing headset amplifier for her to use instead. My suggestion would be ,if you have a loved one there be present as much as you are able to in order to get to know staff and let them see you are involved. But again dealing with a loved one with dementia it was harder for me to come visit each week because of what dementia does to a person.

Mom is thriving
It's way better for the resident if you can visit fairly often (weekly? I'm there almost daily) and get to know the staff somewhat. Then, they can get to know the resident better via your experiences to help with their care (examples: my Mom does not have dentures, so don't give her salads or sandwiches)

There's no place like home but Brookdale does a good job to give mom a great place to make friends be safe and cared for
I'm glad my mom has her own room. I'm glad they have activities. Mom likes it there except for food and people trying to get into her room.

Absolutely terrible/WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
I would NOT recommend this place. Looking at the reviews for one. Some of the people really didn't write them I am at this place everyday and know for sure that they didn't write them. They don't come in our rooms to ask us anything. And I have asked my friends if they wrote them The CEO doen't ever get back to you doesn't like conflict doesn't know how to communicate with you. Always has an excuse And can't solve problems. They keep running the good staff away so they can't keep any they all leave!! And the food now that's another story How they expect us to eat the same thing 2 times a day for a week. Nothing is fresh anymore. The chicken is so tuff if your lucky you can eat a few fresh pieces from the middle to eat The carpets are in bad shape I don't think I have ever seen then cleaned. Of course we all stay in our rooms most of the time.

very dissatisfied, disappointed, short staffed
The carpet needs to be cleaned and they are supposed to clean my loved ones room once a week but that happens very seldom. They are always short staffed. They run out of food items all the time. Frankly I would move my loved one, but I don't know if there is any place better. My loved one also does not want to move. I would not recommend Brookdale Arvada based off of the experience, they just keep raising their prices and the services keep getting worse. They are in the middle of a Covid outbreak right now.
