I really like the people. They are all very kind and the nurses are super and hard working. It's just I feel that family takes better care of them. No facility can match home care with the ratios they have. We chose Cedarhurst because it was the cleanest, smelled best, friendliest and close to family. I don't think there is a better facility out there. It's just not home."

My 90 yr old dad made the decision to move to Cedarhurst after the passing of his wife of 69 years. This move has proven to be an excellent choice for his health, safety and happiness. The staff have made him feel welcome, cared for and loved.

Very Happy with Cedarhurst
We are very happy with Cedarhurst for my father in law. The place is very nice and the food is good. The staff is also very nice!
The outside courtyard is very nice along with the inside. The apartment is very nice and the patio is a plus.

Worth every penny
It is a lovely place! Facility is stunning, staff is truly amazing! Activities to fit all needs and a place that those who need extra assistance all varied levels can really enjoy! Everyone that worked there always went above and beyond. They did everything they could to make sure she was taken care of. I think it was worth every penny.

Outstanding facility

They go the extra step. My dad is in the senior living apartment section.

Place is amateur hour
My mom was given the option of a hot dog or a grilled cheese for dinner on Christmas. She pays $[removed]dollars a month to live here. Then the manager on duty wouldn't even comment if she thought that was a proper level of care for what she pays. The manager on [name removed] and frankly I would be embarrassed to have her manage anything. Zero help and doesn't even know who to contact or there numbers. Do something if you are actually a manager.

Generally the experience has been positive. A little bumpy in the beginning when determining level of care needed but after initial transition and understanding of needs it became much smoother. They have some good programming and staff. We picked this community because of the location and beautiful facility.

Started Off Great
That lasted about 4 months.
The amount of turnover has been unbelievable. I understand this is not an easy job. From the Director and Assistant Director being forced out or fired to Assistant Nursing Director leaving. Everyone we had a relationship with is gone. They are severely understaffed in Memory Care.
The attention to detail, care and communication have been terrible the last three months.
The final straw was getting a call that my mother has declined and that she needs enhanced care. There would be a [amount removed] fee increase for that. We were told when we moved her in that it was the same price no matter her level of care and she can stay until end of life. I said that was not the agreement and there is nothing in the contract stating that. I told the new director I would like to talk to her boss. I never heard from them. Then it was relayed to me that the directors boss simply emailed her back and said no exceptions. We are now moving my mother to another facility. Bait and Switch.

We highly recommend Cedarhurst for your loved ones.
The staff members are great! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Our loved one needs a lot of extra care and they are always there with a smile and encouragement. We like the restaurant style dining much better, and when it comes to the activities there is always something to do. Our loved one made friends within 3 days. Our family has had a great experience working with Cedarhurst of McHenry. From our tour to move in they have been super helpful and great to work with.
