<p>Chapters Living of San Antonio is proud to provide memory care services for the greater San Antonio area. This community is conveniently located near highways to make visiting your loved one easy. It’s also close to several restaurants, Richland Hills Shopping Center, and Westover Marketplace.</p>
<p>The community provides a personalized approach to memory care, as well as support for family members of a loved one who needs memory care. This community opened in 2016, with the guiding principle to treat the families of residents with as much care and respect as the community members.</p>
<h3>Community Amenities and Services</h3>
<p>One of the first things you’ll appreciate about this community is how welcoming the staff is. The color palette and layout are designed to be comforting to those with Alzheimer’s or dementia. The building — including a beautiful outdoor area with walking paths and a gazebo — is secure, so that your loved one will stay safe even if they are prone to wandering. There are plenty of spaces and activities for your loved one to enjoy, including a movie theater, library, dining area, and activity center. There’s also several areas just for sitting and relaxing with friends and neighbors.</p>
<p>Your loved one will receive a customized care plan beginning with an evaluation to identify their capabilities and needs. Caregivers will craft a care plan to maximize function and independence. Therapy is available if your loved one requires physical, occupational, or speech therapy. Stage-appropriate social engagement is coordinated, meaning that activities are done in groups of others with similar cognitive abilities. The final component of the care program is the resident pathway. This allows all caregivers to be aware of what your loved one needs on a daily and monthly basis.</p>
<p>The community offers several scheduled activities such as cooking, baking, and gardening. Some people like to participate in art therapy, brain fitness, and pet therapy. Group music classes and continuing education are available, as well as self-care through massage and spa treatments. The community provides sensory stimulation, reminiscing, faith and spiritual activities, exercise and physical activity, social interactions, and cognitive stimulation on a daily basis.</p>
<p>For caregivers of a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer’s, the community offers education and support opportunities. They want to be a resource not only for residents, but for the larger community as well.</p>
<h3>Living Arrangements</h3>
<p>Chapters Living of San Antonio offers private rooms with an attached bathroom that includes safety features, such as rails to help with balance and a wheelchair-accessible shower. Your loved one can bring favorite decorations to make the space their own.</p>
<h3>State Classification</h3>
<p>Chapters Living of San Antonio is a <em>Type B assisted living facility</em>. In the state of Texas, these terms are defined as follows:</p>
<h4>Assisted Living Facility</h4>
<p>A facility that provides personal care services and administration of medication to 4 or more residents. Assisted living facilities can accept residents with dementia and/or Alzheimer’s. There are 3 types of assisted living facilities:</p>
<p></p><dl><dt>Type A:</dt><dd>A facility that may provide room and board to residents who are physically and mentally capable of evacuating the facility unassisted.</dd><br>
<dt>Type B:</dt><dd>A facility that may provide room and board to residents who need assistance evacuating, are incapable of following directions under emergency conditions, require staff attendance during nighttime sleeping hours, and require assistance transferring to and from a wheelchair.</dd><br>
