Things are going better. The staff are making efforts to take Gale to dinning main area as often as they can. I believe they also have activities on the other side that she could enjoy. She’s doing much better.

Has gone downhill rapidly
My mother (and my late stepfather) are residents there. My mother is now wheelchair dependent, and dependent on quite a bit of care, but the staff keeps leaving. There’s no one to answer any of the emergency call lights. Meds used to be brought to her room on time for her morning dosages.(she’s on cardiac drugs.) but they were told they had to come down to the first floor to pick up their meds themselves. If they can’t, they have to wait till noon to get the medication’s. They are losing all their nurses/techs because there’s not a lot of support from management. I feel for the cost of this facility the care needs to improve rapidly, it’s not acceptable.

Our experience
The facility is understaffed, especially on the weekends.
I would recommend depending on what level of care the individual needs. If they're mainly self sufficient and can move around on their own, then yes I recommend them for the assisted living area. If they need any type of special care while in assisted living, then no. The memory care unit has more oversight and has been doing pretty well so far, so I would recommend the memory care unit

Harmony at HarbourView is a fabulous facility! It's like a high end resort for seniors.
We picked this community, because of the proximity to my home, number of social activities and outings, and beautiful facility. It's a beautiful, clean community with a lot of social activities and outings. The apartments in independent living are spacious and well appointed. The director and other staff members put out a weekly newsletter about problems, improvements, updates, etc. I've heard some people say that the maintenance staff has been a little slow to fix issues. The community newsletter indicates they have hired more people to help with this issue.

Amazing Staff
Across the board, 5 out of 5. My Mom is a HANDFUL. They really could have evicted her because of her aggressiveness, but they didn't. Their staff knows when to call me (with my consent). I honestly could not do what they do -- and I'm a firefighter/medic in the most violent City in Virginia. I would recommend them without hesitation. Harmony is an awesome place, and they earn every penny.

a good facility with a few minor improvements
The dining menu could be improved and they could offer more activities. They have a variety of meals but sometimes our folks with say it's not the best tasting. Also they are allowed to get extra things and sometimes when our loved one requests something extra the dining staff forget. They do have activities like bingo and card games, but we wish they had more frequent activities and a couple different options.

Beware
I would not recommend this community for your loved one. The aids and daily workers at this community are great but the staff are not. The best advice would be to not take all that the marketing team tells you because once your loved one i in this community it will be completely different from what was promised. Complaints are not dealt with either and we have had to escalate things.

A wonderful home away from home
We struggled with the decision to put our father in a home and we have been very pleased with harmony for our loved one. The staff have gone above and beyond to help us with everything. They have really been top notch.

A Good Safe Place for Mom
I have no worries about my mother is being well cared for by the staff. The staff are able to keep me in the loop of my loved one's care, and they are very responsive with questions or concerns that I may have.
My mom has said that the food has been ok.

don't overlook due to pricing
You have to go and see this community to really appreciate how amazing they are. They worked with us and offer specials so even if you think you cant afford go talk to them and let them know what you need. They also have physical therapy, a hair salon, and many other amenditys. I would recommend this community to others.
