After suffering from a stroke eight years ago, he had been in and out of hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living homes, including some of the most expensive options in town. We had mostly negative experiences at these places and a couple of positive ones, but none more positive than at Live Oak. Though no place is perfect, the staffs at Live Oak were consistently kind, caring and attentive to my father. We found that, while most care facilities had a few great staff members, one or two jaded individuals could make life miserable for my father, sending him into anger and depression, which is why the consistency of kindness at Live Oak was so significant and meaningful for him and for his family. Live Oak is a small, intimate setting with less staff turnover than other facilities we experienced. Our owners, Clint and Wendy, both hold advanced degrees in physical therapy and have been practicing in central Texas for over 19 years, combined. We understand and value the importance of an individual’s independence, wellness, safety, and happiness. With our backgrounds and genuine efforts, we promote functional strength and wellness activities in our homes—we continuously strive to encourage participation in cognitive and task-oriented activities, tailored to fit each resident and their personal interests.</p> <h3>Our Community</h3> <p>Our sweet, Southern city offers an array of adventures for those in their golden years to enjoy. From Zilker Botanical Garden, to the Old Bakery &amp; Emporium, residents and their loved ones can experience all the many joys Austin has to offer.</p> <p>It is our mission to enrich the livelihoods of everyone in our care. We provide a host of conveniences and care options—from three nutritious meals served daily, to assistance with activities of daily living like grooming, bathing, and other forms of personal care—we aim to ensure that we meet all the various needs our residents may have.</p> <h3>Living</h3> <p>Our lovely home is set comfortably in a residential area, with close proximity to friendly neighbors and a lovely outside area to enjoy. We currently have one-bedroom units available, as well as two-bedroom options for those who would rather live with a roommate. Live Oak Estates’ staff is consistently on-campus around the clock to accommodate residents throughout the day.</p> <h3>Care Types Offered</h3> <p>Live Oak Estates is a <em>Type B assisted living facility</em>. In the state of Texas, these terms are defined as follows:</p> <h3>Assisted Living Facility</h3> <p>A facility that provides personal care services and administration of medication to 4 or more residents. Assisted living facilities can accept residents with dementia and/or Alzheimer’s. There are 3 types of assisted living facilities:</p> <p><strong>Type A:</strong> A facility that may provide room and board to residents who are physically and mentally capable of evacuating the facility unassisted.<br> <strong>Type B:</strong> A facility that may provide room and board to residents who need assistance evacuating, are incapable of following directions under emergency conditions, require staff attendance during nighttime sleeping hours, and require assistance transferring to and from a wheelchair.<br> <strong>Type C (Adult Foster Care):</strong> 4-bed facilities that meet the minimum standards and rules for enrollment in the Department of Aging and Disability Services’ Adult Foster Care home program.
