My Mom has dementia/Alzheimer's, and has been in Traditions Memory Care at Oakmont East Sacramento for over 1 ½ years. I remember crying at the thought of what Mom needed. Walking in this very difficult and complex season of life, from day 1 Oakmont has embraced my Mom & our family with the highest respect and dignity, patience and care. At times it brings happy tears to my eyes to witness such beautiful examples of humanity, kindness and love. We have such a high regard for the staff/administration & caregivers. They are my super-heroes. It is very hard work: From activities, games, music, crafts, exercise, movie time, meals, and simple engagement, Mom is encouraged to participate and LIVE. Many, including the residents, have become a second family to us. The Oakmont community itself is very beautiful - both Traditions (Memory Care) and Assisted Living. The format of Assisted Living is different, as the needs and abilities are not the same. But the same thread of care and kindness and life runs throughout. I love to bring Mom over to Assisted Living as a change of scenery - she is welcome everywhere.\nThe Sutter Park neighborhood is beautiful. Drive by - rarely do you see Senior Living nestled in a quiet, safe & friendly neighborhood (often they are located on busy streets that tend to isolate the building). Mom and I take walks and are cheerfully greeted by others walking, sometimes with their dogs, or taking children to the park. We sit at the playground and listen to their laughter and energy! There is a beautiful rose garden nearby with benches, and a quaint neighborhood coffee shop. It is all delightful. I really can't say enough.
