My experience

Upon moving in, I found out there was no parking. I waited 4 months for a parking space. No one told me prior. There's a cockroach problem, and they shut the water off too often, saying there's plumbing problems. Why does it never get fixed? Oh, and my rent was just raised $[fee removed] due this month, 1 yr after being here.

Would not recommend

I really have nothing good to say about the Atrium. The staff and residents were not friendly. At one point I was cussed out by one of the residents for saying hello. The entertainment was bottom of the barrel. There was a water leak that left a large hole in the ceiling in the hallway near our apartment. It was there for months and was still there when we moved out. Our car was broken into while parked right in front of the building. I'm not sure what else to say, I'm just glad to be out of there.

I like it

If families are looking for a place that is wheelchair accessible the bathroom and the kitchen are a bit difficult to navigate (I am in a wheelchair for a while now as my knee recovers). Location and price of this facility are great.

Shivering Seniors

The Atrium advertises its many community activities, but if you plan to participate, be sure to bring a heavy winter coat. For years, the social activity rooms and hallways have remained unheated due to a long-broken heating system. Despite repeated assurances that repairs are coming, nothing ever changes—leaving shivering seniors to endure the cold.

Our family would recommend the Atrium, the staff is friendly and it is an enjoyable place to live

There was an incident where they allowed someone to have a pitbull and it attacked my mom's dog. I feel certain breeds should not be allowed. Also, the elevator is always dirty. The people are very friendly and my mom is enjoying her life there.

Our experience

Mom and dad have moved out and are back living on their own in Reno area. There was no care given, and no meals were offered. There were activities but not very many and the ones they have are repetitive. However, we would recommend this community to other families

Atrium at Carmichael

They used to serve meals but has stopped before I became a resident. They stop feeding breakfast and dinner in a kitchen with new property managers from what I understand it all came to a halt so many of the seniors that need more help are moving out. There's a few activities I normally don't sign up for and they used to take them to places with a little bus but it broke down and they occasionally rent a bus and go to a local casino other than that there's not a lot there is crafts on Monday morning a pool table Wednesday happy hour sing along and someone that brings in thrift store items set them up I think once a month for people to rummage and purchase I really don't pay much attention to the offerings because they're nothing that I am very interested in although it's pretty looking out upon the center area there's a duck pond and ducks

My Experience

The staff have no interest in my family. To me, living here is like living in an apartment building. There is no housekeeping available for the residents, only for hallways and public rooms. There are no meals anymore. The staff are few, but pleasant. There are lots of activities, ask for a monthly activity schedule. I would recommend this place only for a person who has his own support or doesn't need any.

Review for The Atrium at Carmichael

I picked this community becasue it was no waiting list. It is good, the staff and complete strangers are friendly and everyone gets along. Conversations with a people, that I've never met are easy and free flowing. The people here are intelligent and have interesting backgrounds.Everyone here has something to offer. Whether it's a friendship or helping hand.

A great facility!

My loved one is currently a resident at The Atrium at Carmichael and everything has been great for him at this facility! It's a great place. The move in process was so very easy. They do not serve meals or offer housekeeping, so that's something to note if you're looking for that for your loved one. However, if your loved one's are independent and looking for Independent Living this is a great facility.

Needs improvements

The facility has changed immensely over the short time my mom has been there. No more food service, maid service, or activities. The price has gone up. Construction has been ongoing; loud, obtrusive, unsightly. Constant maintenance issues that take a long time to resolve. The staff does not assist with a neighbor who smokes cigarettes and pot next door.

From Senior Residential to plain apartments

When I moved into The Atrium at Carmichael in 2021, I would have rated this facility at a 5 across the board. At that time we had 24/7 friendly caring staff. That was taken away [date removed], we now have a desk person M-F 8 to 4, otherwise no one. They closed the dining room in February. The activities were reduced by half. There are no longer wellness checks. Pacifica has declared these as age 55 and up apartments. They also took away the housekeeping services and the emergency pull cords in each apartment. I would only recommend this facility for healthy working people under the age of 65.

No food

They say you can sit in the dining room and eat with friends but truth is they have a line of chairs blocking it so no one can get in! The direct quote from their website..”After a full day, sit down in the restaurant-style dining room for a delicious meal with friends” No way to treat seniors!!

My loved one is happy at The Atrium at Carmichael. She's eating, gaining weight and is happy with the environment. There are no complaints that I know of. It's important to note that I'm not in the same city, but she does seem to be settled in there.

The community is going through construction right now, so cleanliness has been a bit tough. The Atrium at Carmichael does have a comfortable family-feel. The dining could use some improvement, the food itself is not very good. My loved ones apartment is decent for a 1 bedroom, it has a small full kitchen and it's very comfortable. The community offers transportation to appointments and stores, but you do have to reserve that service in advance. They also allow pets.

Disappointed

They are in the middle of totally redoing the facility so there is piles of stuff everywhere, insects are coming inside, and it is just not very clean. I liked the sales gal that I worked with, but I think she was looking more to rent the place rather than make sure it was a good fit for me. There is very little parking and most spots are reserved. They do have a lift here, but it has never worked. I do not eat the food here anymore. They have a regular menu and an alternate menu and the meals are not the most nutritious. They do have a great pastry chef though. There has been a lot of change since I moved in. I think it is a good fit for some other people, but I have not been very happy with my experience so far.
