The staff was all friendly and helpful. The facility was clean and did not smell. Probably the most important thing was that the residents were friendly and talked to us on our tour! My father had been living in a nursing home for 16 years after a series of strokes, and his facility said he really needed a place where he could be around people like him, where dementia patients were housed separately. So having active residents who were mentally cognizant was important. \n\nI narrowed down the selection to 2 places, and both facilities sent a nurse out to do an assessment on dad at his facility. Dad made the final selection, and since he was not able to tour either place, his decision was based entirely on the interaction between these nurses and him. Legacy's nurse asked him about what he did for a living, his military service, activities he enjoyed, his family, where he grew up... in addition to the questions about his physical and medical conditions. The other facility only asked about his conditions, how many people were needed to assist him in the shower, etc. Both were polite and kind, but dad really liked that Legacy asked questions about him, not just his physical limitations.
