Great fit for supported living facility
I don't have any negative feedback whatsoever . The facility has been a good fit for my mother in law. As I have recently toured facilities for my mother, I've noticed some are newer, brighter, and have staff that are more engaging with their residents. That is why I gave most areas a 4 rating. Eastgate is a little quiet, which has been fine for my mother in law.

safe and comfortable
We are not allowed in the dining room so I do not know anything about the food because visitors are not allowed in there. There could be more card playing games or social meet and great. However The Pointe at Eastgate is a quiet place, it is lovely, clean and safe.

Hello thanks for the review and we appreciate you sharing. We are currently not having visitors in our Dining Room while our Residents are eating. However, we can show anyone around in the dining room when it’s not occupied by our Residents. We can also give out guest meals if friends or families would like to eat with Residents outside of the dining room. We do have many opportunities for card games and social gatherings, both structured as well as independent. Very dissapointed
They drained my mother's entire life savings and left her homeless after she contracted COVID at their facility. Its very disappointing this is the state of care for our eldery.
If I could give it zero stars I would.

Deceptive entrance process
Extremely frustrated with the evaluation interview at Eastgate. Our impression was that the Nursing Director was looking for an excuse not to admit my sister, who would be moving from another assisted living facility that she has been at for 3 years. This was a completely different impression from what we received from the Admissions person after 2 visits to the facility, who identified an apartment, etc. Although this facility claims to be for assisted living and is funded by the state to do this, the screening process was to determine how independent a person was, so that they would require the least amount of assistance. If your loved one needs assistance, stay away from this place! They are very deceptive and we were completely blindsided by the Nursing Director and Executive Director's denial of admittance.

Peace of mind
We chose The Pointe because they knew the area well and they had been a couple of times already so they felt more comfortable here. The staff is phenomenal, they are so friendly and helpful. My parents both had covid and they sent them to a nursing home that was not set up for them. I know it is out of caution and they are trying to keep the residents as safe as possible. There are not a lot of activities provided, so I think they could use some improvements there. I would definitely recommend this facility, I finally have peace of mind.

We pride ourselves as having one of the best activity programs you will find in a senior community. Our calendar is filled with a wide variety of activities for our residents to enjoy on a daily basis, whether it's in-house or taking our bus on local excursions out in the community. We are always open to adding new activities that your family member/our residents would enjoy doing; all you have to do is ask. Our Activity Director's very welcoming and her door is always open. We also hold monthly meetings with our residents to discuss the next month's calendar, so they can plan for activities they would like to participate in and offer suggestions for future activities. We encourage your loved one to attend these meetings or to take time to talk with our Activity Director to make sure their specific needs are being met.

Exceptional Community of Care
My mom’s move to Eastgate Manor during a pandemic was incredibly smooth and easy. When my dad died in December, we needed to literally “find a place for mom”. I lost a lot of sleep worrying how that was all going to happen smoothly and how it was going to be financed. Enter [names removed]. They explained EVERYTHING in as much detail as we wanted. They broke the process down for us into manageable pieces, taking the time to answer ALL our questions and they were always available to us, and set realistic expectations. Their professionalism and compassion is so very refreshing. I cannot thank [name removed] enough for his helpful demeanor and kind spirit. His flexibility and understanding during the move in process was amazing! [name removed] at the front desk feels like a family member. Mom loves the food and variety, and she enjoys the currently available activites. Our sincere appreciation goes out to dietary, housekeeping, activities and the caregivers who are exceptional!

Truly a Safe- Warm inviting Place for MOM
The staff at Eastgate has the residents best interest at heart. We believe the care provided is exceptional. The management is fair and consistent in decision making with the care of the residents as the prime motivator. We have found the support staff to have a real kindness when working with the residents. I know when I go to bed, I can sleep easy knowing my mother is in a safe, supporting environment.

Very Pleased with Eastgate Manor!
My brother had a 2nd stroke in [date removed]. It quickly became apparent that he would need a full-time supportive living environment. I heard many good things about Eastgate Manor from a couple of sources. From my initial call to the admissions director, to the day my brother moved in until now, I have nothing but good things to say about Eastgate. This was all new to me, & I desperately wanted to find a the right place for my brother. The admissions director who assumed that position 3 years ago was very patient, knowledgeable & caring. He guided me along with the finance director through the admissions, move in & financial process. A Facetime call was arranged with my brother to determine what additional resources would be needed to support him as a resident. Every staff member we have encountered has been wonderful & kind. They are very COVID conscious & protective of their residents. My brother is happy & safe in a beautiful apartment in a clean, caring & friendly environment.

The screening to get in to Eastgate Manor in Algonquin Illinois is Ridiculous and Absurd!!!!!!!! Everything was going well until the dreadful day my Aunt had to go through the last screening process. That particular screening entailed my 86 year old Aunt sitting in a small room, which was extremely cold, with the so-called "professional" asking her foolish, ludicrous, nonsensical and outrageous questions and testing her for 4 hours straight with only one 15 minute break and unable to go to the bathroom when she needed to. I know it was for 4 hours because I was sitting there waiting for her.

My Aunt was extremely distraught, perturbed, flustered, felt belittled, flustered, shook up, angry and Very upset.
For a whole week after this so-called screening, my Aunt was so upset to a point where she was crying every day, angry and lashing out, not wanting to eat and did not want to see anyone. Is this the way you treat the elderly!?!?!??!? If so, I would not and do not want my Aunt, parent, brother, sister, Uncle or anyone else for that matter anywhere near this place.
You can believe me when I say, I definitely will not be recommending this place to anyone!!!
As a professional in the Healthcare field, I was astounded and flabbergasted by this ordeal that my Aunt was put through. For what...just to get in to your facility!?!?! I know for a fact that there is no known specific testing to determine dementia, alzheimer's or any other sort of memory loss issues. For you to put the Elderly through this type of "screening" is wrong and you should be ashamed of yourselves!!!
I have since placed my Aunt in another facility that is much more beautiful, the staff is more attentive, caring, understanding and compassionate. She is thriving and very happy living in her own apartment, taking charge of her life, taking her own medications, attending activities and making a lot of friends.
Again, I would NOT recommend Eastgate Manor to anyone!!

Needs improvement...
I was not impressed with the Eastgate Manor. I did not even go inside because when I pulled up, the parking lot needed some work. From what I could see, the building was not maintained very well. I was also crunched for time, but I did not like my first impression of the place.

A positive atmosphere!!
My mother liked the Eastgate Manor a lot. She liked the positive vibe that she got when she walked in the door. The place was great, but at the time that we turned, they did not have a room available. Also, at the time they did not have indoor parking. If it would not have been for those 2 things, she would have moved there.

Very Well Maintained
The community was very alluring. The staff was very friendly. There were a lot of activities available for the residents. The only negative comment i have is that they did not allow cats. Overall very nice place.
