They do a fantastic job given all the circumstances - covid, communication with families, doctors, etc
We really enjoy the amount of space they have inside and outside of the community. We like how the kitchen has a ton of windows that brings in that natural bright light, never depressing looking. All in all our loved one enjoys the meals aside from a few, and we so far have had a great experience.

Compassionate, Caring, and Helpful
My loved one was there for a short amount of time and paid in advance for the months they were planning on being there. I'm still waiting on a refund for the outstanding amount. The staff was very good at assisting my loved one. The food was very good at Fallbrook. Several of the residents were very kind to me. The staff would greet me by name each time I visited my loved one, and this was impressive to me.

A great place
I moved to Fallbrook Glen Dec. 2, 2020 from another nearby but inferior Assisted living. Fallbrook Glen is 100 times better! Fallbrook has delicious food, caring staff, a beautiful garden, civil, friendly residents, a variety of activities and cool nightly movies. Sometimes the wait staff are inefficient or the menu cheesey. I wish communications were better but that’s one of my pet peeves. My room is large and quiet but I do pay a bit more. COVID was handled well here by management and we are COVID free. Overall I would give Fallbrook Glen Assisted Living a high rating. T. H., resident.

Thank you!
Fallbrook Glen of West Hills is amazing! I am so happy we initially picked this place for dad to stay. It's clean and the staff was kind and caring, not only to residents but to visiting family as well. I have spoken highly of you all to many of my friends and acquaintances in the community and will continue to do so. Definitely one of the best senior living communities just like senior center which is where he was a resident for the remaining of his years. I will always be grateful and appreciative of how well he was taken care of at both facilities. Thank you!

Beware
My brother lived here for four years through two different management teams and had to leave due to a critical lack of care. Although some of the staff are caring and helpful, they are consistently understaffed and as a result, the residents do not get the care they need. I know the management has changed again since he left last year so I am hopeful that this team has a better approach. The last team was all about making money and not about caring for residents. There was a consistent lack of response to family member questions and requests. We have since found a wonderful living situation and his health has made dramatic improvements. I would not recommend this place for anyone needing assistance and caring connections.

Not for everyone
We had to bring my mother back home after only a few months. They're understaffed for someone with her needs. The caregivers were very kind to her, but there are just not enough of them. Their care was rushed and they didn't have time to notice things. e.g., my mother completely ran out of towels and no one noticed. I washed my hands and there was nothing in the room to dry them. (One would think whoever got her up and dressed her would have noticed.) Another time she ran out of soap, and no one had checked the medicine cabinet for a new bar. Her lower toilet seat was soiled for at least three days, but I guess they were waiting for housekeeping to clean it - and housekeeping is only there once a week. She had bad falls on three occasions because the caregivers didn't come soon enough and she grew impatient. On two separate occasions while I was there, it took them 1/2 hour to answer the call button. (Other times they were there within 10 minutes.) I don't fault them, they have too many residents to look after. They had problems with her oxygen at first (more than once we found both portable tanks were empty) and we finally gave up on expecting them to change batteries in the hearing aids. The laundry staff has no system - I guess. Three nightgowns, two dresses disappeared in the last month she was there, along with bedding and other articles of clothing - all marked. I found a bath mat in her room CLEARLY marked with someone else's room number and name - neither of which were even close to my mother's room number or name. (I took the bath mat back myself.) I don't know if HQ is keeping them on too short a string in terms of funds, but their money is clearly not being spent on caregiving staff and training. If I had a parent who was still pretty independent, it would be another matter. I liked everyone there personally, but for someone who's in between assisted living and memory care, it's just not the right place. I hate to write a bad review, because I really did LIKE everyone, but I was so disappointed in our experience that I had to say something. I earnestly hope they can correct these issues.

Overall happy with care
Overall, they do a good job of taking care of my mother. My frustration is with the time they took figuring out how to handle her oxygen (I went to visit a couple of times where both her portable tanks were empty so she couldn't leave her room). There are still problems changing her hearing aid batteries. They appear to be short-staffed on caregivers (sometimes it takes them a long time to answer the call button), but 99% of the caregivers they have are wonderful with her. They're very good about keeping me informed when they have a concern. Mother's not always crazy about the food, but then she complained about everything I cooked, too. Other residents seem happy and well-cared for. The outside garden area is lovely.

Quality has declined.
My brother has lived at Fallbrook Glen for three years. In the past year, they have had new management and the staff has been cut. The quality of care is suffering. Caregivers are short with residents and management is unresponsive to calls from family members. We are looking for a new home for my brother.

Meridian of West Hills
Overall, I’ve been very pleased with Meridian of West Hills. It’s a nice quiet place, and everyone here is nice. It’s an older place, but I like it. Really, all I want is a nice place, with good people who keep their promises. I do wish that they has a 24 hour coffee service. Otherwise, I’ve very satisfied, and I would recommend Meridian to others.

Great Place!!
I have no complaints of how things went for my tour of this community for my loved one . The staff where very professional throughout our visit and made sure to answer any questions I had for them in detail. The property was nicely presented and was very clean in my opinion. I thought they had a great activity program available for all of the residents as well as other amenities . It was just not the right fit in the end decision for my father.

This is a large community then what we wanted. It was clean but too big for her to feel comfortable. We wanted a family feeling and this was not what we could find for her. We liked the tour and the staff was nice. Families need to tour this community for the care of a loved one.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the California regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about California regulations for Assisted Living.
