This place is above and beyond our expectations!

The food is very good, and there is sufficient variety. We are gradually getting involved in various activities. The staff members are welcoming and attentive. The place has an energetic but mellow vibe.

Lack of Empathy

The business office was rude and does not communicate clearly or kindly. The receipts don't make sense. Still trying to understand where money was applied. Some people who work there lack customer service skills, basic ones. Other than that, nice place. However, don't be fooled about promises for a wait list preference. Most everyone is great, but those who are not make for a bad and expensive experience. Look past the hype

Pleasant

Some things are a little clunky and they have experienced some staff changes in the dining room so the menu and quality of the meals has changed some, but overall my mom is happy. Everyone is very friendly too

Recommend - friendly, positive atmosphere and great food

Villa de San Antonio has a very friendly and positive culture, both residents and staff. They also do a great job with the food - the quality and variety are very good. I regularly eat with my dad when I visit, and I enjoy the food. Overall, the place is run very well. There have been a few issues, such as their internet service being down for over 2 months, and some room cleanings being skipped, but those have been addressed and overall it has been a great experience.

Caring Staff

Staff is very helpful, caring and motivated. They assisted with the move in and helped to get the new residents settled. Many of the residents too seem very obviously pleased with the life style and atmosphere of the community.

five-star care, compassion, and communication

To a person, the staff at the Villa de San Antonio is attention, respectful, and caring. They know the residents personally and seem to communicate well with one another as well as with the residents. The "feel" among the residents is an extremely positive one of care and respect for one another. Everyone there exudes contentment and sense of thriving. The food is AMAZING. The social and activities calendar is plentiful and varied. As family of a resident, we value and appreciate clear and timely communication from the staff.

Great place for my parents

My parents moved into Villa de San Antonio about 2 years ago, and they have loved it. They have made so many good friends, and truly enjoy dining in the restaurant together and attending church services and activities. I have gone with them to attend the weekly happy hour, and must say that everyone there seems to have a wonderful time. I guarantee my parents are "living their best lives", and that's all I could have ever hoped for. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is well taken care of. I highly recommend Villa de San Antonio!

Caring staff and lots of fun activities!

My 97-year old aunt has lived in the Assisted Living at Villa de SA for about 18 months. She absolutely loves it!! The staff take such great care of her, tending to her needs daily. The kitchen staff go the extra mile working with us every week on her menu to ensure her meals are appropriately prepared. She loves all of the activities and gets so excited when she wins at bingo. She also loves the on-site chapel, and attends mass weekly. From the receptionist, to the drivers and the caregivers, everyone is so friendly! I would highly recommend Villa de SA!

Not the best experience for assisted living

This seemed like a great place for my stepmom when we first arrived, but we quickly learned it’s not the best place for someone unless they have minimal needs. My stepmom was on the 3rd floor. The elevator broke and wasn't fixed until a week later, so she couldn’t go down for food or activities until it was fixed. Broke a couple more times for a day at a time. The power went out from a storm and the back up generator did not work, so she temporarily ran out of oxygen. I received a call about noon on a Sunday that she wasn’t very responsive and wanted to know if they should call 911. I was shocked learning she had been this way since 8 am and just reacting . She ended up having to go to skilled nursing and we were notified a couple days before her release from the skilled nursing that Villa De San Antonio would not accept her back, as they felt she needed more care from a smaller facility. We were not told by Villa de San Antonio which was beyond disappointing.

Caring and positive staff and facility

My mom might give scores a touch lower but she's hard to please??. I think it's a great place. No new community fee for move to assisted living. Dining room is very nice with a friendly hostess, [name removed]who knows everyone. The food is very good and they make an effort to try new things. Maintenance to elevators and AC can take a while but they are at the mercy of contractors. Overall a very caring community. The residents all look after each other also

Overall a nice community

The dining has been frustrating for my mom as they seem to be having difficulty keeping wait staff. I was frustrated when the elevator broke down for a month and nothing was done to teach us a new way to get to the dining room. Yes we would recommend this community to others, no place will be perfect.

safe and secure facility, beautiful surroundings, would recommend

It was good. Quiet setting, very secure. My condo area was well maintained and the landscape was well maintained. Other residents were very friendly, the staff was exceptionally friendly and very helpful . They had 24 hour care service even though I was independent. They always called me to check in on me. They also had the emergency push button lanyards. The dining room menus was good (depending what you liked), the separate menu was also good. They had a variety of activities which appeared to be very entertaining, however I was not interested due to my still grieving for the loss of my wife. I moved for two reasons, it was fifteen miles one way to the National cemetery and the $3800 monthly rent was a little high. I qualified for retirement living quarters on post at Ft. Sam Houston and my rent is extremely reasonable. Also I'm less than ten minutes to the cemetery.

The Best!

We went to several places to find an independent living facility that also would "age in place" for my mom--Villa de San Antonio stood out way beyond the rest. Everyone is happy, connected with the staff and each other, activities are so numerous that one could never be bored. It has not failed in any area. Maintenance is quick. Food is beyond excellent. Staff is the best. Activities as re diverse and fun. I look forward to the day I will be eligible to move in. Price is exceptional, especially for all the amenities received. No place better in Texas.

Review for Villa de San Antonio

My mom's experience has been great! She was resistant to leaving her home. After 6 months of living at the Villa she has said it was the best decision. She has made many friends and the conveniences of living in a retirement home have been so worth it.
