Great Place to Be
We picked this community, because they offered care for, the later stages of memory care and alzheimer's . It's a safe and secure environment. I would recommend this facility, for families who have loved ones that need, the later stages of memory care.

The facility at White Oaks was a little bit older than others we looked at, but still very nice. My loved one just needed more care than they were able to provide.

White Oaks in Huntley is Excellent!
My mom has been in Memory Care at White Oaks for the past 2 years. The staff and administrators there are warm and welcoming, and provide amazing care! The safety protocols during the pandemic were excellent. The residents really seem to enjoy themselves during group activities and dining, and my mom has made friends in the community. We truly appreciate the team at White Oaks for all of their help and care with my mom. Thank you to all!

Great care, be weary of expectations
We were promised a lot of things in the beginning from the sales person which is why we chose the facility in the first place. She was very deceptive though so a lot of the things promised were not true. We were super happy with the care and it was a great place, it is unfortunate that we had to move her again. I would just tell others to make sure to really look into Medicaid.

A great place for a loved one!
They were phenomenal, down to every single staff member. The nurses kept me up-to-date with everything they wanted to do for my dad's care. I can't say enough good things about them. A couple of times things changed with other services, therapies etc., based on my dad's status. So we didn't have that consistency/rapport with the outside services. But everybody they brought in was good with him as well. Everybody I worked with was prompt, kept me informed, and called me back. My dad, who is a finicky eater, ate the food and seemed to enjoy it overall. And they did a good job of encouraging him to down and eat. This type of care is all expensive, but I feel like their cost is fair and in the same ballpark as other places. And they did a good job explaining what you're getting, what insurance covers, and what we could do to lower the cost, which I appreciated. The staff were very caring and always let me know if they had any concerns, including one 6 am phone call stating that my dad's status has changed for the worse, and it would be a good idea for me to get in there to see him. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is sending a family member to extended care or memory care. My dad had a birthday while he was there, and my sister who lives out of state set up a birthday party. They had cupcakes for him, and all the staff was there. It really made him feel like a part of the family there, and that was very nice. They get top of the chart ratings all around from me!

Frustrating
The one thing that would have changed everything for us is communication. We tried to be very clear about what kind of care my mom needed because of her dementia. And they assured us they could take care of her. But in the end, they couldn't. We were just not very knowledgeable about the level of her dementia, and I just wish at some point somebody would have said to us she needs more care than we can give. And instead, she fell 10 or 11 times while she was there. Those falls were a bad thing, but it's not like she was left alone and unattended for long periods of time. I just don't feel like they were clear with us on what they could handle and what they couldn't. I feel like it was half our fault and half their fault. I don't blame them completely. They kept saying everything is great, its great, it's fine. And it wasn't. I just wish they had told us sooner that this was not going to be a workable situation. We ended up bringing her home and acquiring 24-hour care. And there's no way they could have provided that for her. Some of the staff were so nice, and some were not. But most we dealt with were nice. The activities director was fabulous. She was just so up and happy and just the kind of person you would want to see around old people. She just had such a great vibe. The RNs on the other hand, had really bad communication. And it was during Covid so we couldn't go inside, so communication was more important than ever. They had the whole wrong med list, which was a mess. The community does have a cool communication tool like a portal where all four of us sisters could log into it and ask questions, and they would text back. The CNAs and and activities director were on the portal and responded back, but the medical side was where it was lacking. I think they were spread very thin. I wanted to like the place a lot. It was a cool set-up, and it had such great potential. But I think they were just very understaffed, which I'm sure is an industry-wide problem. I think given a different situation, if you have a parent who doesn't require so much care, its' a cool place and I would recommend it. It just wasn't the right fit for our mom.

Than You For All You Do, During the Pandemic
The community does a great job of keeping me updated with any changes of my loved one. The community is very cordial when greeting you when they see you. They are willing to assist with in person visits outside, even though it is outside and cold. White Oaks has done a great job. My loved one seems to be happy. The staff makes my loved one relaxed and are very helpful.

Not entirely happy
The place seems a bit run down. Difficult to reach patient as phones not always answered. Follow through is not always kept as promised. Example is we purchased an immediate response fob that was found to be defective. The replacement did not work. We were told it was most likely due to the system needing replacement. It would seem that this would be a priority as the patients with fobs would need immediate help. So far after a month it has not been updated.

White Oak is the Best !!!
I helped my aunt move into White Oaks Memory Care Unit. She has Azheimers Dimentia. The facility and staff are great. [Name removed]. was very "hands on" and made the transition go very smoothly. She is always available and willing to do anything to make the residents and family feel comfortable. The private rooms are spacious and clean. The entire facility is very clean and extremely well kept. I am so glad I found White Oaks because I couldn't be happier with the exceptional service I have received. They have an incredible amount of activities and I know my aunt will love it there. Moving my aunt here has given me such peace of mind and I know she is being cared for very well...... Trust me, White Oaks should be your first and only choice for Assisted Living!

Facility is large and layout is not as organized as I would think a Memory Care facility would be. Overall seems like a nice facility. $6000 all inclusive rate & they are offering incentive credit (3200) for the 1st year if you sign up in October. Phone & TV hookups available but not provided in room. Rooms are nice, private with shower. Transportation to dr. appts is included. The price makes this one attractive.

Not the best, not the worst.
My loved one has lived there almost since it opened. It has been disaster after disaster. They start with one director -- she tried but seemed like she had no support. Then they brought in a new director. Simply amazing. She cared about us, listened to us, followed through on our requests, ect... Then I come to visit mom one day and she is gone. No warning, goodbye, anything. They said she was laid off to move another direction. Well, here we are again starting over. HUGE mistake on their part. As far as I know including my family there are 5 others that are currently looking to move. Since moving in in June we have had 3 administrators, 3 nursing directors and now 3 memory care directors. IN 10 MONTHS! The CNAs are good for the most part, however most do not stay. Nursing is okay -- not the best but also not the worst. All in all I would suggest finding a different place. One with more consistency and stronger roots.

Feels very bright and cheery here
This place is well kept and maintained, it’s clean, and the staff really seems to care about the people living there. They’re good about being available to help when you need it. The food appears to be decent and they have a few activities available that everyone can participate in if they want to. The other residents there seem to be really nice as well. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Wonderful People
I toured here for my loved one, and I liked Heritage Oaks. I thought that the people there were wonderful, and I thought that my loved one would appreciate the smaller setting of the place. The woodwork was dark, and the rooms were small, which gave a cozy feeling, but my loved one opted for a place that was closer to me.

Mom is well taken care of
The Heritage Woods of Huntley have a wonderful staff. We knew it was the right fit for my mom when we took the tour. The staff is always so welcoming when we come to visit and we feel right at home. My sister lives down the road so it is a very convenient location for us. They also have a web site that lets us know what mom is doing. It is a very clean and well-kept community. They encourage the residents to participate in the various activities. Usually, there are about three activities lined up for the day. Plus the other festivities they have, they recently had a party celebrating the cubs and white socks, it was a lot of fun. I've had the opportunity to dine with my mom and the food is not bad, they serve two specials a day and a variety of choices. They provide outings once a week on the bus for shopping or a ride outside the community. It is so nice to know she is well taken care of and they are [Removed] on the spot for any questions or concerns regarding my mom's well-being.

Nice Memory Care Community
My mom recently moved into White Oaks at Heritage Woods of Huntley. The staff there is extremely friendly and has gone out of their way to help my mom feel comfortable. The programming is more extensive than other sites that I visited, with activities throughout the day, including outings and special performances that are brought in for the residents. The layout is conducive to a resident with memory care needs and the facility is kept clean and well-maintained. Additionally, the new director, [Removed], is working hard to get to know all of the families and ensure that each resident's needs are being met!

Really Nice Community, Tour Was Nice
My tour of this community went very well. Everyone was kind to my family, and I. From what I saw the community looked great. The staff was friendly, and my questions were answered. I did find another community that was a better fit for my father, but my tour of this community was a good one.
