It felt more like warehousing. The patients were usually kept in their rooms but the patients often wandering into each other's rooms. [name removed] lost clothes and shoes and other items. The common area was very small with little furniture other than the tables and chairs that were used for meals. It was not a good place for patients that needed memory care and care for Alzheimer's. I had to move [name removed] to 3 different facilities during the time. When she would get upset and sometimes lash out at staff which often happens with Alzheimer's they would often want to send her out for behavioral control or to leave the facility. I still feel so guilty for the treatment she received. Overall at the end I remember only 3 young women that really tried providing good care. Of course they were on shifts. I would ask you to really check these facilities for their ability to care for Alzheimer's. South High is primarily an assistant living facility. The memory care section was small. That staffing didn't seem well trained in caring for this type of patient. There was few activities for the patients to be involved in while they were away from their families. My wife had Alzheimer's so she needed more care. If that is your situation I would not recommend this facility.

I wanted my loved one to have more freedom and be placed in the area where folks are milling around and making sense. Instead he was locked behind closed doors with folks who were so much worse off than he. I spent most nights and every day with him. He was not looked after like he should have been and if I hadn't been there I don't know what would have happened. He was not at all happy about being locked up. I took him out as often as he wanted, but it was sad to leave him there in evening when it was time for me to go home. I pleaded with the assistants to look in on him during the night. I loved him so much and it just broke my heart to leave him there. He felt betrayed once they locked him up! The place was not very clean, the same bucket of dirty water sat in the hallway for days, never moved, while assistants sat lounging in chairs chatting with coworkers. The laundry room was filthy! The poor lady next door to my loved one cried and yelled all night and the walls were very thin so it was if she were in the same room with [name removed]. One morning when I arrived my loved one was in the social room with all the other patients and he was sitting next to a very troubled woman who would not leave him alone. All patients were required to be in the social room so the assistants didn't have to go from room to room to check on them. All the assistants could then sit at the desk, on the desk, and play games or just chat while the patients watched some stupid thing on the TV, or at least tried to watch. I would not recommend this place at all. In fact, I'm not sure they are still open. I discussed all my concerns with the management and they would not move him. I told them I was immediately taking him out and they said they were sorry. They need better supervision in my opinion.

South High Senior Living is not a place I would recommend at all. They don't follow through with what they say. Their sales pitch is great. The main part of the building when you first go in is very pretty, very attractively appointed. But once they make the decision to transfer a patient to memory care, it's filthy. It took me a whole day to clean the room to get it to where it was suitable to live in. The floors are dirty. I saw the same bucket of dirty water sitting in the hallway for an entire week. The way they feed the patients is awful. They get their food form the main kitchen, but by the time they it gets to memory care, it's cold. They have no condiments, salt, pepper, that kind of thing. The ladies working there do the best they can. But they want to put all of these people in a circle so they don't have to get up and move around to care for them. Which I did not like at all. Some of the patients are much worse than others, and those patients who are so much worse irritate the patients who aren't in that condition. It is not a good scenario, and they just don't measure up to what they say they do. I do not recommend it at all.

It's a nightmare what they are doing to all seniors who live here! No house keeping, no more 3 meals, no more security, what about people who can't see or crippled that can't cook for themselfs??! Oh the complaints well becareful...they will raise your family's rent! How is it this business sleeps at night knowing these seniors have been facing this mess from the company's cut backs! Their scared not knowing if they are going to have a place left to lay their heads!! It's pathetic inhumane!
