Very nice people on site. Rooms were quite expensive for the condition of the housing and the individual rooms were somewhat small. Mother in law was not interested in residing at this facility.

My dad has lived here for about 6 months. Overall he is happy here. Nice staff and he enjoys the compainionship. It’s very simple but that’s fine. He likes to sit in the lobby and visit with other residents. BUT they have no generator and it doesn’t seem like plans to put one in. (cost I suspect) In this day and age and in south Florida many many private homes, condos, restaurants and hotels etc have generators to get their residents through hurricane season without losing electricity, elevators, ac etc. I am thinking of the Miami place where residents died. Several weeks ago The Pointe residents were been told to leave their apartments by order of the fire marshall because of the danger caused by the lack of ac and electric. They really need to spend the money and get a generator or I think we will be looking at other options. Anyone expects to have electricity and air conditioning.

He had some good caregivers. They put me under a lot of pressure to move him because his care needs had progressed and I understand that this may have been from a desire to get him the care that he needed, but it also felt as if they were very concerned about protecting their statistics too.

Very, very lovely, great area. But it's really small, ~80 Independent Living residents, 70 Assisted Living. I think it's just too small for our tastes.

Observe caregiver staff working and interacting with residents. Participate in a meal in the dining room, and observe interaction of residents with one-another and with caregivers

The Oak Manor SNF failed our mother who was hospice patient but placed on rehab side. The first week, mom was unable to do the 3-point to get in a wheelchair & she fell twice. We had a Care Plan meeting and stopped rehab & requested soft foods. In the midst of dealing with a dying family member, we were forced to turn away rehab daily and send her food tray back each meal to get the soft foods promised. The Suncoast Hospice nurse was as baffled as we were at the repeated disregard for what had been decided in the that meeting vs what was actually being done. Mom was in a lot pain that was not being controlled with the prescribed medicine intervals. She was unable to ask for addtl meds. We stayed with her feeding her, dismissing rehab and getting solid foods, & requesting more pain meds. We moved mom to a Suncoast Hospice Care Center. The lack of communication and training gaps at Oak Manor, left us with a heavy heart that we chose that institution in our mom’s darkest hours.

One brief tour and I was out of there. The staff lives for FOX News and has every television set on it. I certainly don't want to expose my parent to a daily dose of brainwashing in his final years.

I have few things in mind, since I’ve been surprised for many things. Also,we are tired to have a conversation with [name removed] the E.D,because she never takes care of the situation, things still happening and that’s not fear for my family members, friends and neither for us who are paying a lot of money for being and feeling mocked and deceived by her;including employees of all departments. The rooms are nasty!Full of old trash, the bad smell is unacceptable. The food is not the appropriate, poor, and the trays food for rooms are always late and cold; the service in general has been the worst. The caregivers have no idea how to treat, transfer, and even less, have no patience and empathy with our loved ones.We all believe and are sure that more than one caregiver has not passed for any nursing school before in their life’s.Also, the facility is always short of staff and the small group of the ones who really work are not able to take care of all residents.

Took a tour, found a studio that I liked but the contact person never returned my call or followed up on the additional items that I asked for clarification on. In addition, she had me hold her hot tea while she drove the golf cart - VERY unprofessional. When I asked why I should choose that facility over others, she said it was because management pay close attention to who they ALLOW to live at the property so that they "fit in". Makes me wonder if we were not "chosen" for some unknown reason. Wouldn't recommend - simply - If the front staff is this unprofessional, how does this reflect on the care staff??

The place has very nice paint, nice piano, nice and clean hallways. What it doesn't have is what matters most enough aids. Your parent will be left to fend for themselves. Example elderly have to get themselves to the bathroom because nobody comes when they press the button they claim they do respond within 10 minutes. Multiple times I must have timed and ended up helping my parent day after day. My parent was very sad and frustratetd wanted to go home. Unfortunately as you realize at one point home is no longer an option. They serve pork chops elderly cant chew, hot dogs they can choke on and multiple times nobody in the eating room to cut the food for them. They assure when you sign escorts, meals cut if elderly has arthritis. My parent was forced to eat sandwiches day after day I felt terrible watching my parents frustration. The place could be straightened out but outside the nice walk throughs and oh so caring sales people all I can say is its a bunch of [language removed]. All these places are the same. There were some staff that were good, but they were over worked, underpaid. IF you pay in banannas you usually get the same the same type of careless 90% of the time. I could go on but I assure you it is better than some of the others, but go in knowing this its NOT NOT NOT the best, its minimal and sad. The day my parent died to ease their pain was awful I wont get into the details but they could have eased my parents pain faster. The doctor they have is good, but doctors face it are doctors and this was end stage for us so I cant blame them for my parents loss but it would have been nice if my parents call button was not out of reached tied to the bottom of the bed so they could not reach it. Sad but all 100% true.

When I first went in to tour the place, I spoke with [Removed], the sales guy, who took me to [Removed] from family home care services. They made me all kinds of fake promises, that they would take care of my mother, make her appointments, and check on her. It was all a lie. Once she moved in, they never checked on her once. She has a pacemaker, I told them before she moved in that they needed to make her an appointment and they didn't. I would give them an F for how they treat their customers. They will not even fill her pill box. The place itself is a nice place, it has a nice restaurant. But the Susan lady is terrible. She is the queen in her office, and never checks on the residents because that would require for her to leave her office.
