Finding a home for a senior loved one is never an easy choice. It certainly wasn’t for us! When a fall and surgery dictated a move out of assisted living and into a long-term facility, we had some agonizing conversations about where that facility should be. While Dad was in rehabilitative care at Perry Lutheran Home, we gave consideration to a different facility for reasons involving other family. As we navigated the rehabilitation process, we were more and more impressed with the care he was given at Perry Lutheran Home and the way in which he “fit” into their way of doing things. In short, he was very well cared for, and he was completely happy there! So, we decided that making a move was not in his best interests. What we didn’t know was what was around the corner for us! As the threat of the virus became apparent, we prayed that PLH would take the necessary steps to keep Dad and the other residents safe. With all the horror stories about other facilities having so many cases of the virus, we were so grateful that whatever PLH was doing has worked. Their residents have been kept safe! The staff at PLH has been so caring and willing to accommodate our needs. We continue to place our trust in their “process” and take comfort in knowing that Dad is in the best place he could possibly be!

In January, my family was asked to move my father to a locked memory care facility. I checked multiple facilities and after visiting Perry Lutheran homes, I felt like that would be home for him. When we moved our father, he instantly seemed very content and at home. I can't say enough about the staff at Perry Lutheran homes! They Make sure they're residents have a fun time and are very caring of them!

This is a non-profit Christian home. We have an activity director who provides one or two activities every day. There are two Alzheimer's units, one skilled care and one assisted living. The focus here is serving Christ by serving others.

Small and Caring

Overall they really are working hard to try to meet the individual needs of the senior individual. My mom has, for example, gluten intolerance, so they're working with her to accommodate that with their meals. They've been willing to work with her in terms of unique needs, or even just billing and cost needs that she has. I think they do a really good job for being a fairly small facility of really caring about the needs of each individual. The only shortfalls have been: 1) what everybody has been facing - reasonable turnover in staff. And 2) some maintenance items that continue to have a lag in getting addressed. But overall, the care for the individuals and customization to meet individual needs as well as willingness to work with my mom in terms of cost, etc., has really been quite good. Overall I would recommend it.

Review of Perry Lutheran Home

I feel this is a good home to live in that takes care of most of my needs. I get help in a spiritually medical way as well as physical. The majority of staff are good about helping me when I request help. I'm thankful that this home turned out to be the one I will spend the rest of my life. It's food that we have resident counsel to express what is ok, or maybe where a change is needed.

Review of Perry Lutheran Home

I have lived at the assisted living section of the main campus since 2010. It has been a pleasant place to live which includes good food, very nice staff members, very good activity director and it is well managed. It is clean and kept very organized. Since I am in assist. living I cannot review the medical section of the home.
