The building itself in its woodland setting is warm, full of light and lovely. The staff and residents are welcoming and friendly. The meals are excellent. This is WAY different from the other glass and steel places we visited.

The management team has been changing a lot this year! Hopefully they will stay still now. I like the staff now. They try hard.

I am responsible for my 96 year old former neighbor who is now 96. He entered assisted living at Brookdale Chanate three years ago. In the past year, he moved to the Memory Care unit there. The staff at Brookdale has been attentive, kind and helpful. They all know the residents by name and understand their habits and needs. The dining room in the main building is lovely and food is good. The facility is clean and never smells bad. The staff in the memory care unit works hard to engage the residents. They handle medical emergencies well. There has been a lot of turnover at the executive level but there is now a new ED in place. I would recommend.

I never stayed at Brookdale Chanate, but we had a wonderful friend who stayed there briefly. I loved the atmosphere at Brookdale Chanate and the lady in charge of sales, [name removed] did everything she could to make it comfortable for our friend. On a scale of 5, [name removed] is a 5000. So, overall experience, 5. Value for the money, 5. Activities, 5. Food and dining room, 5. Administrative staff, don't know. Cleanliness, 5. Friendliness, 5. Quality of care: this was the issue for our friend. He really needed attentive care by CNAs - maybe he needed more care than can be offered by an assisted living facility. I think if he were alive today, he would say a 1 or 2. He ended up in a high end board and care that met his needs entirely.

Surroundings are lovely Its clean and I love my studio. The staff is nice and the residents are friendly, The meals are very good. My complaint is with management. Not enough staff and a high turnover in management, The director we have is temporary and divides his time with another Brookdale facility. When I get my bill it bills me for services but doesn't explain what they are. I have to get the proper person to explain what I am paying for this is just wrong. Found I was being billed for services i wasn't getting. I am in a wheelchair and need a walker to stand up. I am at their mercy I have to be pushed to meals and activities. Sometimes waiting up to 45 minutes. Today was a good day everyone came on time. Just wish they would have more staff and permanent management.

Overall the staff members at Brookdale Chanate seemed friendly was a little concerned about care but they were going through some transitions at that time so I cannot be certain now. I would say to meet with the director personally that was one of my issues at the time we kind of were handed off to other people at times

My loved one was previously a resident at Brookdale Chanate and the overall experience at this facility was great. However, ultimately, my loved one didn't feel that they could count on the medical assistance that was being provided.

The staff is very friendly to my mom and to our family. They do take a serious interest in the care of the residents. However, it does appear that they are short staffed, since there is quite a delay in response times to emails/calls.

My mom has been a resident for several months now and overall its a terrific facility - good staff, safe, good meals, activities...just working through bumps on the business side...billing issues, scheduling of services, transportation issues. Nothing major.

All categories above get 5/5 stars. The main reason we chose Brookdale Chanate over other places we initially looked into was because of the hospitality of the staff as well as the residents. They have a perfect staff and a very welcoming community, my mom loves it there!

The staff were friendly for the most part, management was great, but the care givers seemed a bit over burdened at times by not responding to the call buzzer in a timely manor. With that being said they were having staffing problem while my mother was there she passed a short time later. We would recommend this community to other families depending on their loved ones needs and to make sure that they can accommodate their needs.

We really like the staff members overall they were pretty good to deal with - we did have a concern while our loved one was there that we actually witnessed a few times. Sometimes the staff members would not come when our loved one needed assistance which is why the overall rating received 4 stars. However overall our loved ones needs were met pretty well.

We have not been able to see the inside of the community, and we have not been able to see the meals ourselves but from speaking with our loved one they did not seem like they are a big fan of the food.

When I was looking, one of the things I noticed about Brookdale is that they are an all inclusive package. You do not get charged for individual things on top of the monthly amount which can make a big difference. The director sends updates regularly about what is going on inside the facility and the staff members on the floor are almost always available. They also are sending me pictures of things that he is participating in and he seems to really be enjoying the activities. I would absolutely recommend to others looking.

Do your homework, and make sure this is the right place. Ask lots of questions to make sure what you're looking for is what they can offer, and tour if you can. It's very difficult to say due to Covid. We weren't able to visit after move-in, except for outside visits, which were not pleasant during wintertime. But we did love the redwood trees all around, and the rustic setting. It's a nice yard. Our loved one said everyone there was wonderful. The few times we were in his room, we noticed trash wasn't emptied, and there was old food in the fridge. Although I don't know if that was even part of their job. Our loved one didn't care for any of the food and lost a lot of weight. They kept bringing the same thing when we asked them not to bring it and were not very accommodating about options We thought our loved one was going to be more independent as far as care needs, but in the end just needed more care than was available at Brookdale. We were sort of at odds with the head caregiver from the start. But we had a great relationship with the executive director , The main director was kind of elusive and has since then left. I wish they had tried harder, and I think I just expected more. I understand it's difficult during Covid. Aside from the food, our loved one had good things to say about the staff and felt well cared for.
