Happy at Lakewood Manor

Lakewood Manor is a warm, friendly place that has the comfort and care of the residents first and foremost. Those we have talked with that have been here 17 plus years have nothing but positive comments about it. We have just been here one week, and already feel at home. Getting involved in activities is key to getting to know other residents. The food is well prepared and there is variety. For me the portions are too large, but I just take leftovers back to the apartment to have for lunch or breakfast the next day. I would recommend Lakewood to anyone thinking of a retirement community to come to Lakewood. There is great peace of mind knowing that we will be taken care of until our time on this earth is over.

No longer can recommend

As an out-of-town family member of a long-term resident (15 yr.) I can no longer recommend Lakewood due to what I have observed this past year. Our elderly mom has been in independent living but has serious vision, balance and cognition issues. She fell in her unit at night didn’t activate either security device and was discovered the following morning. After hospital stay and Healthcare rehab rather than admit her to assisted living LW instructed her to hire private nurses and return to independent living. She has numerous underlying medical issues and takes numerous medications throughout the day. When my parents first decided to make the sizeable investment to reside there we were led to believe their medical needs would be periodically evaluated and they could access the continuum of levels of care including assisted living. Appears that LW would prefer to shift additional nursing expenses to the resident rather than providing access to escalated on property care. Be advised!

Tour of Lakewood

We toured Lakewood retirement community and it was a beautiful facility. The only reason we did not choose them was because we were looking for a leasing community rather than one you had to buy into and this was one you had to buy.

disappointed

My review is from a year ago, so I am not sure if it has changed. The staff here was not happy and most of their staff did not like what they were doing and it showed with everything that they did. They do not interact with the residents, only as they have to. It seemed like they resented what they were doing. It was ok but certainly not warm.

Need more nursing staff.

Rude staff who are inattentive/ unobservant of medical issues. Some staff are aggressive and use a punitive tone with residents. Make sure you check on your family member daily.
