New Home & Friends

This new move to Northpoint has had the same struggles as all the others. The move is just now after 3 or 4 months moving on to a more peaceful existence. The hallway to my mother’s new first floor apartment is a bit dingy. We have had some hiccups. Like the head nurse leaving so medications were a struggle. Communication about physical therapy recommendations have had to be managed multiple times. The administrative staff is very helpful. Mother is going to all of the activity options. She likes the guided activities and going to the grocery store once a week. She feels more independent with the aids going with her to help. We are getting more care for less money. I feel my mother is better cared for and Northpoint is more inline with her current and ongoing needs.

If they would take her to the church services she requests we would be pleased with activities. The value for cost is okay. We would recommend this community to other families but it depends on what someone is looking for I would.

Awesome Residents and Staff!

We just moved in recently and haven't had the chance to do the activities except for the band that was here. It was great. People here are friendly and wonderful. We feel so welcomed here. [name removed] is awesome. [name removed]and [name removed]are so welcoming and helpful. [name removed]in housekeeping is friendly and efficient, and [name removed]is very friendly and efficient. [name removed]is used to having bath aids as we did have a few from Love In Home who did a good job. We are very happy to be here. I know it takes an adjustment. But we like our apartment on the ground floor so we can look out. Everything is beautiful.

Our families experience

[name removed] was amazing she is the communities sale director. She was very helpful in getting everything we needed and still will answer any and all questions. they have been puréeing and chopping food for [name removed] which helps her eating a little easier. also it is not cheap but what can you do . Each care level goes up another [removed] dollars I believe which we've already gone up one because she is in depends now which she never wore before . Overall we a very happy with our choice in picking Northpoint village . I hope that helps thank you . One more thing it's very very important to label everything I'm amazed at how stuff gets moved around, but I think that's normal for memory care..

I Can’t Say Enough Good

Northpoint has been so good for my mother. When she came there, she was malnutritioned and non-communicative. Now she has color in her face and she is smiling again. The staff is fabulous. There are some real angels that work there and they really invest themselves into the residents.

Our family's Experience, would not recommend

The initial part of touring the facility seemed nice and that it had everything we needed. Moving in was fine and at the beginning, it seemed like everything was going well. Then progressively they started to lose more and more employees. The food started to get really bad, they didn't have any kitchen help and then they ended up taking away the nurse. Having the nurse there on staff was one of the main reasons that we were attracted to this place because our Nana needs some more medical care and once they took the nurse away, she was not getting any of the care that she needed. We ended up moving her out of the facility after having multiple issues with medication, staff turnover, and the food declining significantly. The facility was mostly clean. I didn't see a lot of housekeeping issues, but as the staff turnover happened, I did notice things start to get a little bit more messy. Overall, though I didn't see any problems with the cleanliness. Overall, the staff was very friendly. However, once we started raising issues with the upper management, we had some problems with them. They wouldn't return our calls, wouldn't get back to us and we found it incredibly frustrating to have issues that needed resolved, but no one would contact us because they knew that we were frustrated. Again, initially in the beginning, the care was great and they had a sufficient amount of staff. But as the months went on, they lost so many staff members, and we definitely felt like the staff turnover was due to pay issues and not having enough support. We later learned from the Director that some of the staff issues were due to to People not coming in and then having to crack down on employees. Her care suffered drastically and there were a lot of times where things were missed. She lost a lot of laundry and sheets, they never came back from the laundry service. There were days where nobody would come in in the morning quick enough, and she had to sit in a wet or soiled bed. The time it took for someone to come after she pushed the button on her necklace was sometimes greater than 20 to 30 minutes. I was so frustrated by this because if she had fallen or something serious had happened, no one would get to her for quite a long time. In the beginning the food was OK but not great. As a month went on they lost their chef and a bunch of kitchen help so the meals were absolutely awful. We went to eat with her several times and the portion sizes were similar to that that I would feed my toddler. They were extremely small, tough, hard to eat, un appetizing and looked like they were just out of a TV dinner. Nana complained a lot about the food all the time and was a big reason why we ended up moving her, as well as the care problems. all of the other residents that she was with also complained about the food a lot and were met with no help or solutions. The food was absolutely awful. The amount of activities was sufficient, but our Nana didn't participate in any of them. I felt like if they had adequate levels of staff that they could have helped her to go on some of the excursions or do some of the activities. But because there was no one really keeping an eye on her, no one was there to help her to get to the activities or remind her or wake her up on time We ended up moving Nana out of this facility because the amount of money that we were paying per month was not at all acceptable for the amount of money that we were paying. The food was horrible, the staffing issues were nonstop and they took away the nurse which was a huge draw for us to have her there. We were not getting the value that we were promised when she moved in so we moved her out.

Review for North Point Village

I do tell people that these are hard working, kind and sincere people who take very good care of the residents. From the managerial to support staff , I am very happy that we have my brother in their care.I would recommend them to others. I also want to thank you for your help with guiding me through this process. Your staff is also to be commended. It was the TV commercial that I had seen at just the right time that led me to you. Thanks to all of you from my family.

NorthPoint has been a blessing

Mom has dementia and it's getting progressively worse. At one point even with help eight hours a day it got to where I was not able to get more than an hour or two of sleep many nights. We found NorthPoint thanks to A place for mom, and they have trained certified staff there with contracts in place to handle things if they are short staffed in an emergency. The staff to resident ratio is 2 people per 12 residents, and there are additional people who float where the greatest needs are. The environment is very good in the memory care units, with 3 distinct cottages each with 12 people. I have been visiting at least once a week for a couple hours and I am always impressed by how well the residents are treated by the caregivers. There's a room with a big screen TV where various shows can be watched, each resident has their own room, and there's good security at the entrance. Parking is readily available and the caregivers reach out to me whenever there's a question or concern. Great place

Nothing to compare it to

The staff is kind caring and thoughtful but human and has rules set in place that can't always be explained properly bur are followed absolutely no mater what. If you could afford to be there sure I would recommend it, no way would I be able to stay when I need to go somewhere but it would be all about the money.

A Place for Mom has scored North Point Village 8.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
