Not what I expected for my Mom.
My mother spent five months there and it was awful. The staff pretend to care but they really don’t. They were very snobby and unwelcoming. Overly priced and not worth the money. Even some of the residents were unkind. Do not recommend.

Very Nice Community
The staff was very thorough in detailing out the amenities in their community. There were a lot of physical, crafts, and cognitive activities for the residents. The meals looked very tasty and the variety of meals available at any time was more than we had seen at several other independent living facilities combined. The place was spotless and smelled clean but did not have that terrible disinfectant smell. The location is peaceful but not isolated. The apartments facing the main road, are well sound proofed as you almost hear zero road noise.

Our families experience
Our parents really love this community, they say the meals are really good but when they were locked down for covid the meals had to be delivered in boxes and sometimes it was a hit or miss. They activities seem to be good and they seem to be getting involved, but they did say on the tour the pool is opened year round and that is not the case. The shuttle service is nice and I am glad the scheduling is now working out. They could just work in communication with the residents and their families. The salesperson was very nice to us and informational during the tour, but once our loved ones moved it was difficult to understand certain things and how certain things work.

A great place to translation from a home to a senior living facility
Our first impression was just how nice the community is overall, our loved one apartment is very nice with granite counter tops, full kitchen and a washer and dryer inside the unity. There are also a lot of activities for the residents to take part in.

Great place if your parent is truly ready for the move.
Our loved one had a short stay here, which was no fault of Parc of Duluth. He was just resistant to being there, and kept forgetting he had agreed to move in. The only complaint I have - and it's not really a complaint now that I've visited more places - is that I believe that elderly people suffer from memory loss, period. And there's really no way to know how far that has progressed. The staff was pretty good with our family through the process. In hindsight, I think they were doing a lot more than we were giving them credit for during the week or so he was there. The onboarding process was difficult to deal with, especially the 3-day quarantine period when he first moved in. We thought he would have ambassadors to take him under his wing so he wouldn't have time or opportunity to drive us nuts. But that wasn't the case as much as we would have liked or were expecting. And perhaps our expectations were too high - it is independent living after all. The food was not that great, but their activities offerings looked okay. Given what we saw at other facilities, the value is pretty good, although the cost is still high.

Thank you [name removed] for a very enjoyable tour at the Parc at Duluth. I met a lot of friendly residents and staff, the atmosphere was pleasant and uplifting. Elegant and graciously designed with wide hall ways, plenty of plush seating and activity areas. Quite a variety of apartment floor plans, all with plenty of room for furnishings and nice bright windows. Spacious and inviting dining rooms, lots of delicious menu options and a lovely outdoor terrace. There is also a nice sized swimming pool, a well equipped gym for workouts, and a sizeable theater for movies and entertainment. This would be a delightful place to live.

Lovely facility. However, it has a large number of apartments ad therefore loses some of the cozy feeling of smaller facilities. Apartment was large and well laid out. Unfortunately is was way over my budget.

Has A Pool
We toured this community and found that it had far too many amenities that my parents would not be interested in. The community has a pool and other activities that my parents are just past being interested in. The food was very good when he had lunch during the tour. The staff seemed to be friendly.

Things are going great
My father-in-law is happy here, he likes all the different activities, the swimming pool and the fact that he can use it year round, the exercise classes, the field trips take him shopping and to the movies. I like that there is a motion activated sensor in his bathroom that is monitored at the nurse's station that alerts them. They also welcomed his cat and made sure that his Studio porch was pet-friendly as well. My father-in-law would like to see a few more single men here but he likes that everyone is friendly and he enjoys going to the dining room where there is nice variety on the menu to pick from. All in all, this was a good choice for my father-in-law.

5 star Living at its Best
October 2015 As a caregiver for a family member, I was put in charge of selecting the "Right" Assisted Living facility. Parc at Duluth is "Head and Shoulders" above the competition in the greater Gwinnett area. After canvasing numerous Assisted Living facilities, Parc at Duluth has won my praise from the beginning. When one stops to think of such a heavy decision for a family member, the transition must be smooth and seamless as possible. Everyone at Parc at Duluth has made our shift into this fine facility entirely flawless. The staff, the food, the individual rooms, amenities, and each detail is well thought out for each person living or working in this beautiful establishment. Thus far, our family is thrilled that Parc at Duluth is their for our beloved member. Keep up the good work! 'It is better to serve than be served.'

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Georgia regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Georgia regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored Parc at Duluth 2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
