I have family at Parkwood
My aunt lives at Parkwood and loves it, she moved in a little over a year ago and has enjoyed making friends there. She goes to balloon volleyball and exercise every day. The building is bright and clean and the food is always tasty when I eat meals with her!

I have family at Parkwood

Recently Toured Parkwood Estates
I toured Parkwood Estates a few months ago, it was very clean. The rooms were good sized and there was a good variety of rooms. They don't offer memory care so it wouldn't be a good fit for my mom but otherwise I had no complaints about the community.

The staff at Parkwood is always friendly and smiling. They recently redid the interior and exterior of the building and it looks like new! The residents appeared to be happy and the lady showing us around seemed to know everyone’s name.

The staff is excellent and the Maintenance is good. The food is good as well. My favorite dish is the quesadilla's, and my favorite dessert is chocolate eu clair tort. The chef prepares them well!!!!!

Lack of service personnel
My biggest hang up with Parkwood Estates is dining services. First, there are not enough servers to take meal orders in order for meals to flow smoothly. I don’t know the pay scale for servers and I don’t want to know. But I feel that if corporate loosened the purse strings and gave staff [not management] a decent increase in pay, it would attract more people. Secondly, some meals are difficult to eat or can’t be eaten because the meat is so tough. Some meals are dry because no gravy is supplied with the meat.
Another hang up I have is with my rent. It increases 7% per year. It’s in my contract! This means that in a few years, assuming I’m still among the living, I will have to move because I won’t be able to afford Parkwood.
In talking with some of the current residents, I feel that we were better served when [removed] was in control. With Sunrise having taken over on [date removed], services seem to be heading towards the trash can.

Very happy at Parkwood Estates
I have been living at Parkwood Estates a little over a year. It is a very nice place to be. It is surrounded by huge trees and you can walk all away around the bldg as if you are in a park! The Managers are all very nice and helpful. The people that work in here in the dining area and housecleaning are also friendly and helpful and good at their jobs. They have many activities and things to do. They have a great physical therapy and occupational therapy company which works on getting you feeling better, relieving pain and improving physical and mental situations. I do recommend Parkwood Estates as good place to be!

Relaxing place
We chose Parkwood Estates initially because of the cost compared to other places we looked into.
They have recently been bought out, the new company is trying to improve on the food.
I would recommend Parkwood to others.

Review for Parkwood Estates
The building is nice but they are always short staffed and management doesn't seem to want to jump in and help. Things that she is paying for as part of her rent are not getting done such as they were short a housekeeper so my mother went 3 weeks without housekeeping or having her trash removed and they have been down to a single server in the dining room so service has taken hour to get everyone their dinner and last night she gave up waiting so I had to take her some food for dinner.

Recently toured Parkwood Estates to try and move my mom out of [removed]. Staff were very knowledgeable and the woman who gave the tour was fantastic! Building looks a little old on the outside, but the interior, the rooms, and accommodations were amazing! A lot has been recently renovated and updated! Will be moving Mom as soon as we are able!

Review for Parkwood Estates
It is under new management now so we will wait to see if the food and activities improve, but for what is provided I feel like $[removed] per month is way too much. She was charged the new much higher rent last July due to a remodel but then the cost increased 7 percent! I would say look elsewhere. It is hard on the elderly to move them so try to choose wisely the first time. My mom has one friend she keeps company with but talks about moving all the time. However with ger increasing memory challenges it is too daunting for her to make another change.

Compared to other places we have visited, the staff is not as friendly as other residences
It seems helpful if you would have one contact person at the front desk, who greets visitors and helps residents and promotes a nicer atmosphere and also has suggestions for residents to be active, Like a traffic control person ??. a person that sets the mood for the whole place
The activities director seems very resentful and lacks in creative ideas for residents

Review for Holiday Parkwood Estates
Don't do it. It is too expensive and they are too unorganized.Loved working with [named removed]. Also in my mom's neighborhood she was familiar with and location close to family.I think if [name removed]was the manager it would run much better. I know they were in the middle of a big remodel which caused chaos but after talking to other children if residents, the cleaning and food has always been a problem. Nice wait staff in the dining hall though.

Would not recommend until they get their staffing shortage under control.
Everyone is very nice, but they are short staffed. So what they tell you is not what you get. For example getting your apartment cleaned. No housekeeper, no bus driver, short staffed in the dinning room and the washer and dryers are always broken. At this time I would not recommend until they get their staffing shortage under control.

Holiday is a place to be
The staff are wonderful; they're always so friendly, nice, and they look out for my mom.
They have a lot of activities, although my mom doesn't always participate in them. She does have vision issues and they offer to assist her in activities like bingo.
I think the people are very friendly. [name removed] the owner, is always so helpful and understanding - he's wonderful. He always seems to be there to help the residents with things, even with things that may be above or below his scope. I think the residents could benefit from learning how to protect themselves and be more secure in their personal information and items. Some don't have great memory and can find themselves in situations. [name removed] went above and beyond to help a particular resident who had misplaced her personal items.
The community is a secure place, after 7:30pm the main doors outside are closed, locked, and cant be accessed without a key. Which is a great thing, because family members do have a key if they need to access their loved ones after hours. They also provide Lively, which is a life alert-type necklace. So if they fall or get hurt they do have security in knowing they can push that button for help. Holiday is a great place.

trouble brewing in brewtown?
- We're in 3rd week of below average food due to changes in kitchen personnel. We suffered thru 6+ months of bad food during pandemic 1st year and are worried we're going into another period like that.
- Also in 3rd week of covid outbreak; each week is different handful of staff/residents in isolation. This may be our new normal thru next winter because vaccines/ boosters seem not to prevent mild symptoms. It's the residents with cancer who are most on edge; one resident recovered after infusion treatment brought into her apt.
- Housekeeping is reduced to every other week due to staff shortage.
- Common areas & dining room slated for much-needed upgrade this year.
- Rents going up now 8-9% each year under new ownership; 2BRs away from busy street may all run >[price removed] per month, studios approaching $[price removed].

friendly staff
The friendliness of the staff and residents and even their helpfulness really stood out to us. Our loved one hasn't really participated in the activities very much but we do know they have good things for the residents. The meals and dining service is a little bit of a hit or miss something but based on the experience we have had so far we would recommend them to other families.
