The staff was helpful in working with hospice to keep my sister as comfortable as possible, and kept me informed with her condition. Housekeeping was acceptable. The move in process was easy, not complicated. The meals were of very good quality. I would recommend them to others.

Just like family, feels like home.

She likes the other residents living at the community as well as all the different activities they have to participate in, but she's been in the hospital and then discharged to rehab where she is staying right now.

Review for Symphony at St. Augustine

I would say it's been pretty good. There were a number of glitches in the beginning that I was really upset about. And there are still some glitches… I feel like for the amount of money they charge there should be less issues going on. But [name removed], who runs Symphony, is very nice. It is a nice facility, and it is very clean. Some of their staff is awesome. I feel like if they could hire some more people that were awesome, then it would be a different story. But they seem to have a hiring issue like the rest of the US right now and it is to their detriment that they have staff that doesn't give 100%... but they need bodies to work.

This was the best facility we found after checking two others in town.

The staff at Symphony are very friendly and attentive. They do a good job. Cleanliness could be a little better with urine smells, but the facility décor and layout is good. It's very spacious, and there always seems to be somebody trying to interact with the patients in memory care.

Great Place

I picked this community because, of the activities, cleanliness, and proximity to our house. As for what they do right - the amount of activities is great. They have stuff for both men and women.

We were very impressed with Symphony at St. Augustine, it is a very nice facility. The lady who showed us around did a great job and was super nice. Unfortunately that had no openings, but everything that we saw looked great.

tour review

Our family had an in person tour and it was such a great experience that we would of signed on the dotted line. However the were are like memory care or glorified hospital rooms, it was just a one size almost studio apartment and we just wanted our loved one to actually have some space of their own.

Excellent staff!

The staff members were all very nice, friendly, considerate and helpful while our loved one was there. The private rooms really stood out to us and helped make our decision. For the most part they supplied the furniture, we did bring in recliners ourselves but they supplied us with shower curtains, pillow cases and sheets.. Unfortunately the activities were still very limited when our loved one was there, so he did not get to experience any.

We would recommend this community

One thing that really stood out to us when we first visited this community was how friendly the staff was. The rooms are pretty spacious, they are laid out well. The only problem we had with them, was the barn door that separated the bedroom to the bathroom. Those doors can be dangerous to the residents. We really liked the food at this community, we thought it was pretty good.

My Best Decision

I would recommend it for sure. I am very pleased at the care my wife gets there. I believe their communication could be improved during the virus. It's really lacking as far as communication goes. Other than the communication, I think they do a wonderful job. If it wasn't for the COVID-19 I wouldn't have an issue.

Inadequate at best.

It is difficult because of the restrictions placed on the information you can provide. Nevertheless I will try to summarize my experience HORRIBLE. Everything in my review is a fact that I witnessed. They overdosed my husband on medications that could have stopped his heart. They did not do his ADL's. I had to come over everyday to take care of him. I had to pay someone to come in to take care of him if I went out of town. He fell in his room and they did not call 911 and made a unqualified decision that he was not hurt. I had to take him to the hospital myself. The staff did nothing to supervise the residents, particularly at night. Most nights staff were no where to be found. Another family member and myself had to stop a resident from choking because no one was around to help. I could go on but I think you get the picture. Management was unresponsive to expressed concerns. The best thing about this place was their activity person. I moved my husband out in July to another facility.

Awesome Care

I moved my friend into Symphony at St Augustine. Symphony and the care staff are amazing. They are caring and loving and take care of her as if she was family. They are attentive and the facility is clean and bright and feels like home. They have definitely made me and my friend feel like family and truly care about her. The activity director is very knowledgeable and has awesome activities for the residents. There is always something for everyone to enjoy. They take field trips weekly. Pam in the business office is a gem as well. She is always willing to sit and talk with you if you have any questions or concerns and handles them promptly. Jill Hecker, helped us every step of the way and made her transition easier than I ever thought it would be. The concierge is fantastic and is always willing to help and can answer all my questions. She greets everyone that walks through the door with a smile. I highly recommend Symphony at St Augustine to anyone looking for an assisted living and memory care community for their loved one.

Safety...

My Dad resided there for ten months. I at times so struggled with the care my Dad was receiving... Lost dentures, two sets after living there three months. Sure, easy to think things easily get lost, misplaced but the bedroom doors were often kept open and unlocked as were the little cabinets in bathroom...where such items should have been...locked up. Staff was immediately informed...little was done. Sadly, they seemed so uninterested over the fact this was pretty devistating to my Dad on a daily basis for the reminder of his life. An elder with dementia, normally struggled with chewing and swallowing his food...no dentures meant more struggle for him. Several overseeing his care stated they were unaware he wore dentures. He lived there three months and they were unaware he worse dentures! He refused dental care and I doubt he could have sat in de tam chair! No way I could have new ones made up for him. Glasses missing. Safety, during a visit he was found outside, unsupervised filthy...covered in feces and urine. He resided in the locked down section of Symphony...for those with wanderlust and those that the illness has progressed a little more. Those requiring more then promting with self care and daily activities. No employees noticed him gone, even though the alarm went off as he exited through the fire escape door, rather then following safety procedures an employee shut alarm off and went about their business. No head count on residents checking to see if anyone was missing. Safety measures not very important that day. No explanation given, no questions answered or concerns addressed. So glad j visited that day!!! Sadly, Communication was limited with management.
