Amber Court Assisted Living Communities

I appreciate living at The Esplanade at Palisades because of my ability to remain independent and yet when I need assistance I am able to receive it. I love that if I don't feel like going to the dining room for meals, I can have my meals delivered to me. I can also enjoy meals with my friends and family in the atmosphere of the Country kitchen. I am in control of the heating & air conditioning in my apartment. The ease of shopping, housekeeping and being driven to my doctor's appointments is a great service to me. Entertainment is available. Being an electrical engineer, I enjoy the cerebral/lecture activities offered. All the employees here are pleasant and cheerful.

Mom has been here for 2 months now and she "has no complaints". And why should she, this is like an all inclusive resort for seniors. Put a pool and tennis court out back and I would move in. The staff is amazingly warm, helpful and responsive. The facility is kept spotless. The food as mom says "is very good here", and mom loves good food. Her only negative comment is "the chicken soup could use more chicken". If that's mom's only complaint about the food then you know it's good as is the dining room service. Compared to other similar places we looked at the Esplanade at Palisades is an amazing value.

The folks at Harbor View were more than accommodating. They made us feel like part of the family. And when my mother needed skilled nursing for medication she had to take for 5 weeks Dahlia, the Director knew the people in Sheepshead nursing and rehad right across the street which was so convenient and the services there were wonderful. Overall I would highly recommend Harbor View to anyone that needs a place for their family member.

They have gone above and beyond! The people there are so helpful and friendly! They could update some more of the rooms and the bathrooms but they are starting, they have done the hallway and some rooms already. If you want to have a family get-together they will find the space for you. They don't charge extra for meals with family, they make sure the families stay involved. They are extremely accomodating, and if the residents dont get along they go out of their way to match them up with ones they will get along with. The view is gorgeous some are lake views, even in the back of the building you're looking at the mountain. They are very accommodating. We pay exactly what they told us we would. They go out of their way to bring in entertainment every week.

Amber Court (AC) is housed in a former hotel in downtown Elizabeth. Clean as a whistle: Community was fresh and clean. Housekeeping/maintenance staff do an excellent job. Lobby entrance is attractive and well maintained. Follow your nose: N.A. the entire building was fresh, not stale. Ask to watch Activity schedule is comprehensive and diverse - activities are planned and hosted by staff and residents. (Rem) residents do not stand out apart from nursing home residents. Specific rooms are designated for different activities, i.e., Library, Arts & Crafts Room, Ballroom used for large group activities, Dining Room for meals. Staff attitude: This is a very professional staff. Residents are greeted by name. Visitors are made to feel welcome. Outdoor areas: The rooftop patio is used for special activities. A garden is located on the rooftop. It is safe and secure. The view from this location is awesome. Nutrition and dining: Meals are served in the dining room on the second floor. Lunch and dinner are served in 2 sittings. Memory care residents are served during the 2nd sitting. Buffet served monthly as special meal activity in 1st floor ballroom designed to create atmosphere of outdoor courtyard. Fitness activities are included in daily activities. Safe and [removed] AC residents may have single or double rooms. Each apt includes a full bathroom with bars in convenient locations, a small frig, and a small microwave. Personal care: Based on the assessment, residents are categorized on Levels of Care I - IV. Staff/resident ratio 3 caregivers per 15 residents on all shifts. Moving cost: New residents pay a $1,500 non-refundable community fee. The last month's rent must be paid in advance. All families sign a 36-pg contract to move into AC. Must be a resident of NJ. Trust your instincts: I was quite impressed by what I saw and heard.

My husband stayed at the Esplanade and received wonderful care. The staf are fantastic.

I have only been here a little over a month here at The Esplanade at Palisades. It is very clean and I have no complaints. I recently let them know my carpet needed cleaning and they came right out and cleaned it. They provide three meals a day. The food is good. The staff is friendly and helpful. They offer activities so we can get out of our rooms and socialize. There is transportation to go grocery shopping. I'm new here so I don't everything that they have to offer. This community was recommended to me. The residents are friendly and I'm meeting new people all the time. It is a great place, you have your own room, treats and snacks at night, it is a great community.

I find the place great. The food is good, the activities interesting and the aides are very good. I am glad that I am here.

The place itself is very clean and updated. The Staff is extremely friendly and helpful to the residents.

My Aunt lived at Amber Court for over 2 years. She was very happy, always had things to do. I was very impressed with all the care she received.I also was impressed with how clean they kept the facility!

Harborview - Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn..... I would like to say the staff was phenomenal, very attentive to my father's needs and tried to make him feel at home as much as possible for an assistive living facility. They treated him with utmost care and he felt as if they were his friends as well. They check on the residents throughout the night to ensure their safety. The facility does have daily activities if residents wish to participate. The facility was a little run down however that can easily be overlooked due to it's size. There was an outdoor section that had unshaded as well as shaded areas, a computer/library/ lg screen tv room for weekly movies, a large room for socializing as well as a full size cafeteria. They made his last days as happy as possible and were in constant contact with me regarding his health and any issues that he had.

I'm not the resident, but my father-in-law had not nice things to say abut the meals there.

My loved one is currently a resident at Lake Shore Assisted Living Residence. The facility was just recently mostly remodeled, so it's in very nice shape. It's very clean. The staff that I have met is friendly so far. There have been no complaints about the food from my loved one as of yet. The move in process was a little rocky, but it ironed out. I would recommend Lake Shore Assisted Living Residence to others, in fact, I already have.

What our family likes the most about the Amber Court of Westbury community is that fact that my sister feels comfortable being there. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.

I have no experience with the outside community. I go to the facility, visit and leave. The Harbor-view community is kind, and dedicated.

We toured Amber Court of Westbury and it was very nice. More expensive than some of the other options in the area. They offered more than my loved one needed, she's not a very active senior. The friendliness and cleanliness were both good, also!

I would recommend Lake Shore Assisted Living Residence to others families.

Nice community, not the right fit.

Lake Shore community is very clean and the staff members are very friendly. When we go to visit our loved one the meals look and smell really good, and they offer a lot of activities for the residents.
