Sterling House... good for the whole family.

When you enter Sterling House of Spring Hill you will find large, open and well lit spaces. The staff has been an answer to prayer. They gently encouraged and succeeded in getting my parents to participate in extra activities and mom and dad love it! I can now spend more time with and enjoying my parents. We know that mom and dad are well cared for at Sterling House.

Stress Free.....Happy Mom, Happy Life!!

Well I must Say, Thank you "A Place for Mom.com" they helped so much in getting the process started & helping me find the perfect new home for Mother. Richard Thomas is GREAT! I was a bit afraid of how my Dear Mother would react to moving from her own home to Sterling House. Well I am so very happy, as is my Mother & the entire family. She is having a blast! She loves her new home. She loves the staff as do I. Laura in Ft Myers & Carol in Lehigh Acres are the BEST!! I could go on & on about everything & everyone else but you see my ratings, 5 Star+... Mom has only been there a few weeks now, but I am so pleased with my choice. THANK YOU STERLING HOUSE STAFF :-)

Very friendly staff made me...

Very friendly staff made me feel welcome and answered all my questions. Placed emphasis on giving my parents their individual preferences and not just making them conform to 'group norms'. I asked a lot of 'tough' questions and the staff was candid in their responses +++ They did not make me feel like I was being unreasonable with my 'what if' questions which I had an idea what the answers would be just given the nature of the business. I wanted to communicate how important it is to DAD that he be 'in charge' when it comes to his care. Diane was AMAZING +++. I greeted her with a professional handshake and departed with a friendly hug. Thank you. 'A place for Mom ' for the referral. I know I have to 'shop arround' as in the end it's not about me, It is my responsibility to gather facts and information as we all know 'dad is in charge' not you and I. David Charles Osborne Tallahassee, Florida PS: My first choice is to convince mom and dad to move in to my home. That remains my highest recommendation to them. So far I have only looked at ONE facility and Sterling House is now in 2nd place as far as my '2cents' worth of recommendations are concerned.

Very nice place! Great location!

Very nice place. Great location with a beautiful garden and courtyard area. The staff were very nice. I was greeted immediately and enjoyed an informative tour by a very knowledgeable and polite sales person. The apartments are very nice, clean, spacious and updated. I decided to bring my father back to tour and will definitely recommend Summit at Venice.

2.4 miles (7 minutes) from our home. ...

2.4 miles (7 minutes) from our home. 3rd facility visited. Facility is located off of a busy street in Franklin area, but recessed so you don't feel like your on street. Two 1 story facilities (1 memory care, 1 assisted living). Entrance opens into a large waiting area with administrative offices on either side. Director toured, She was very business like, touring facilities, showing us menu, activities schedule, confirming pricing that she had already confirmed for us. Our tour felt more rushed here. The facilities and rooms were very nice, comparable with the 1st two facilities. One thing I recall as unique was that she showed us the laundry room and stated that residents can do their own laundry if they prefer providing more independence to those who want it. It felt more like I was selecting an apartment rather than being sold on the quality of the care & living provided at the facility. While waiting to talk with Medical Supervisor, we sat in a room which had notes posted to employees from the executive director. They were notes [removed] "Overtime has become an issue... reviewing employee procedures for clocking in/out.." Raises concerns that he's not hands on and has to communicate via memo's and postings with the staff. The level of care costs vary based upon condition of patient from $200 - $1,000 per month.

Tour of Brookdale

We toured Brookdale Spring Hill and we liked it, there was nothing adverse about it except that my mother has a screened in porch and would not have had one at Brookdale. Having a screen porch brings the outside in, and opens up the room so that it doesn't feel so closed in; that was a selling point for us at the other community. If Brookdale offered that then we may have gone for them because the community is less than half a mile from my house.

Excellent so far

The location is great for me, it is right down the street from my work. We were also given a discount at move in which helped. One thing that really impressed me was the director had been continuously employed by the facility for quite some time. As far as I can tell the quality of care is excellent, one of the male nurses here especially has been great. My mom is enjoying the activities that are provided. The only incident I have had is with the checks, they cashed them before the date we had talked about and I was over drafted. They were very nice and apologetic when I brought it to their attention. I think the value for the money is better than other places that we looked into. Everything seems to be working out great so far.

A really good place for someone who needs that extra level of care.

It's always clean. Even though they ask me to call ahead before I visit, I don't. And it's unbelievable how clean it is every time I go in. Everyone there knows what my mother has been up to, which I appreciate. And they let me know of any issues that are going on. I've been very impressed. Mom says the food is okay, and they just got a new chef so that could be improving. They have a lot of activities, although she feels too tired to participate a lot. But she loves the music, and they bring in pets on Fridays. They have exercises, bingo, movies. She does what she can, which is a massive improvement over the last place she was at where she didn't do anything at all. It is expensive, but I think the cost is fair. I would recommend them to anyone.

Care for my dad

This is a nice community. The staff are nice and some of the staff are not as helpful as we have requested. We have found that some of the staff is not helping as asked. The community is very clean and maintained. The menu is appealing. They do offer activities for the residents that want to participate We would suggest that other familes tour this community for the care of a loved one.

A relief to find a sage home for Mom

My first impression was open, light, and residents were alert and curious. The staff are upbeat, hard working and engage in many different facets of resident care. At meal times all staff participate in the dining room from pouring coffee, juices and water to serving the meals at the tables. After the meal, walkers are redistributed to residents and those that require it are escorted. The community calendar is full of a variety of stimulating events. With a max of 40 residents, In two weeks, Mom is adjusting quickly and is regaining her confidence. She feels safe and interested in her new home. I can sigh with relief.

Nice place, overall

Overall we're very pleased with how things have turned out at Brookdale Fort Myers. The facility itself is well kept and clean, and I like that it is such a small tight-knit community. Everybody knows everybody else! For the most part the staff here is caring, friendly, and accommodating. I have had a few issues with some specific staff members, but in general they do a great job looking after my loved one. I do think they could work on their communication a bit, there have been times where I have not been notified when appointments or doctor visits have been rescheduled.
